ARIO...I couldn't help it...I caved and got the G440...

All I can say is WOW...the Razer Destructor pad I've used since 2009 has officially been replaced.
This thing will make LOVE to your Logitech gaming mice. :awesome:

Logitech did their homework with this one.  The G700s and the G602 work perfectly on it, with zero tracking issues, or lag.
...and that surface...omg...a perfect match to the teflon feet on G-series mice.  Perfectly tuned for rapid, high-DPI mouse movements.

It goes without saying that if you own a Logitech G-series mouse, you'll probably want to get one of these.
The Amazon reviews extol the virtues of this pad better than I ever could.

Arcmanov Approved!  :icon_thumleft:

What about the cloth one though? Used a cloth pad in the past and it was great.

Never used a cloth pad, nor would I want to.  Too much friction for fast-paced, high-DPI FPS gaming.
This hard pad allows the mouse to glide on it like a hockey puck.

Night and day difference between this and the Razer Destructor.

I was a huge advocate for hard mouse pads. They are fantastic

But for some strange reason a steel series cloth pad made its way into my house.

It has performed on par with the hard pads and is now my go to surface for gaming.

So...my Asus router died two days ago.

Ironically...I was playing a particularly intense round of Battlefield 4 on Paracel Storm when it happened.
Initially I thought...'oh well, maybe the server crashed again'...and then noticed that no pages were loading after that.

Imagine my dismay when I went to reboot the router and realized all LEDs were off. :(
Serious troubleshooting commenced, but to no avail.  That sucker was deader than disco.

Tried other adapters with similar voltage ratings but nothing worked.  Went to Sham's and they verified that the adapter
was indeed working, and producing the correct voltage/current output.....

OK...time to kick things up a notch.

Decided to open the router and spied a 'domed' capacitor on the power-supply circuit...

You may not be able to see it clearly, but just compare the top of the purple cap with the other two close by.
It turns out that this is a particular malady that can affect that very Asus RT-N16 model.  I was VERY happy to get the
EXACT specced cap replacement by Sham's.

One serious piece of soldering later...

It LIIIIIIVESSSSSS!

Fellow RT-N16 owners...be warned.

Battlefield so intense it crashing routers and all yes.

gg no re

@ arc, I've seen many swollen and busted capacitors in my time but that purple one looked perfectly fine in the first pic.

Your eyes are really sharp to notice something was odd there.

Well played

Upgrades for the HTPC...

New case and cooler.

It's slowly morphing into a mini gaming rig in its own right.  :)

The Cooler Master Seidon 120M cooler works perfectly.  Average full load temp of 55C on a quad-core Core i5 3470.  I'm impressed.
Plenty overclocking headroom there.  (I won't because it's not totally necessary (yet :happy0203:  ).
I will  however be throwing a GTX 760 in there as soon as I can afford it...upping its gaming pedigree substantially.

Now THIS is interesting (as opposed to the flight vids...*sic*)

Been planning to put together a rig like this to replace my current HTPC setup but an xbox one / ps4 costs the same and it maybe given priority.

Decisions decisions.

Seeing as you already have a gaming rig, would you throw down on that high end graphics card for this box over a nextgen console?

Hell yes...a GTX 760 is 'only' two-fiddy.

The ONLY thing them new consoles have on this box is exclusive games....that's IT.
This doing everything them doing, and then some...and I could still grab it and go by anybody
with a HDTV and run madd games on it.  The keyword here is 'versatility':)

Full agree with Arcman here. Was planning to use my Xbox for the center of the living room, and get couch coop games for that. But the price them console games going for compared to steam games one sale, it makes zero sense. So I soon going to build a dedicated htpc gaming box for the living room. Xbox is solely for exclusives, and maybe Netflix and stuff like that.

Interesting. Even though you already have a gaming rig???

For me, the decision won't be so easy. I won't have to buy a video card alone @ $250 by itself.  Time you add case, cpu, ram, hdd, etc....the total price will be sky clear past that of an xbox one or PS4

If I am already going to buy a console (like in Messiaah's case, just for the exclusives) would definitely want it doing HTPC duty.

And save spending that extra $$
