Welcome fellow GATTers to the Sweatology Thread.

We are Promoting variety in d gatt gaming scene. We currently Swet the following games:
Gears Of War, Dawn Of War: Soulstorm, Grid, Fifa 09, Unreal 2004/3, Quake 4, C&C Kane's Wrath, Company Of Heroes.

Suggesstions for other games are welcome.

We game via Hamachi (VPN Client) & Communicate via Ventrilo. See below for information and instructions.

Ventrilo    Name: sweatology.mh-it.com    Password: g@m3

Some games can be joined via lan browser, but here are the commands to manually join a game if you are having problmes.
"Hamachi IP" = the hamachi ip address of the host, hosting servers will be displayed in hamachi.

UT3: F10 open "Hamachi IP"
GOW: ~ open "Hamachi IP"
DOW: Works via LAN or Direct Join, "Hamachi IP"

*ask any Sweater if you are having issues for help.*

ok here is the deal for our gameplaying, hamachi will be our means of connecting, since online ut3 servers usually give alot of lag, esp for users with connections slower than 512kbps

Firstly Download Hamachi & Ventrilo

Secondly

Configure Hamachi

• Set Hamachi to use 1 core for dual/quad cpus. (Greatly reduces lag). You can download that fix here >> hamachi single core activator.rar - 0.02MB
• Right-Click my network places -> Properties, the Network Connection window will open, Click Advanced->Advacned Settings and set Hamachi to the top of that list.
• If users in hamchi expereince the blue arrows follow the instructions to resolve. >>
     1) Go to Hamachi preferences->status tab->detailed configuration
     2) Set UDP to 12345
     3) Map UDP 12345 from your router to you PC IP Address
• Vista users require addtional steps. Instructions will be posted as requested.

Third

Configure Ventrilo

   1) Create a User Name - User your gaming screen name here please.
   2) Create a Server - Hostname & Password Located above, Everything else default.
   3) Create Bindings - Bind Name = Default, Add 2 bindings using PPT Advanced:
          1 Key (ctrl) to transmit to Channel By  Name, Select all available channels. (Used for Public Communication)
          1 Key (alt) to transmit to Current Channel (Used for Team Communication)
   4) Select Created binding from dropdown box. Click Connect.

Configure Games

Unreal Tournament 3 - Make sure that you have the latest UT3 update (version 1.2) that can be aquired here >> Click To Download - 240MB. You can also apply the NoIntro Fix - 107KB

Gears Of War - We will be using version 1.1 of GOW which is included in this file >> . Click To Download - 15MB and follow the included instructions to make GOW Hamachi Ready.
Crashing Issue - If your gears is crashing, then install this file >> Click Here. If still crashing then >> Uninstall the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package from the Control Panel (If it's not there dont worry about it). Next, download and install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package Service Pack 1. For 64-bit systems : Click Here. For 32-bit Systems : Click Here

Soulstorm - No configuration required. To unlock all races though, "aquire" the previous games i.e. DOW, DOW:Winter Assult, DOW:Dark Crusade, each title unlocks a few additonal races. Once installed, Soulstorm will ask for serial key for previous games to unlock the races. To save space on your HD, once installed and races activated in soulstorm, you can delete all the files of the previous games save the .exe used to launch the game. Soulstorm check for the .exes to make sure you have the previous games.


Finally, just for recruiting sake, if you're a fan of quake 3 and the old unreal games, you should have no regret playing unreal tournament 3, yes i know it's alot just to link up and sweat, but the reward for your efforts will pay off, so far the dominant COD4 is on the scene, but it's nice to have variety not so? so link up with us, and take a try out in Unreal Tournament 3, Gears Of War and DOW: Soulstorm. And as stated above, if you're a noob in these games, we're willing to offer tips, and point out mistakes, and train users so they can become better gamers, and off friendly fun compition to the scene.

if yall add fear combat to that......MY GOODNESS i sorry for yall. . had a good sweat with the fellas in UT3 tonight. even tho i spec most of the time due to my high ping. we're still trying to work out some of the kinks. lookin forward to more sweatology!!

i'm glad to see alot more people join in. much appreciated. the sweat last night was boss, the pings were LOW!!!.. with the exception of jedi, we gonna have to fix that. if i can get a ping of 90 on 256k, you should be better off than me man.. something we missed.. anyways.. i see some games suggested that i may like to "aquire"... esp team fortress 2.. will have to get that.

as this is in its early stages, for the first to second week alot of kinks will have to be worked out, esp the ping issue for some in hamachi, since that makes ut3 senseless to play.. looking forward to test GOW, since DOW works nicely, trust me, i know..lol

Just a question. How do I get an account with which I can log into UT3 so that I could change my name from anything other than "player"?

well at the main screen after you login, seeing that ur name i believe is player by default, log out and create a new profile with your desired name.. and that's it i believe.
