Yesterday i started getting this error all of a sudden after I tried to switch between mp3s .Now no sound works. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, everything that I could think of. Its onboard sound, this is the name of the driver Vinyl AC'97 Codec Combo Driver (WDM) 



any help will be greatly appreciated..

What exactly did u uninstall and install?

Get the model of the mobo, go to the site and download the sound driver so that you will get the exact version that you need.

Uninstalled sound drivers.....reinstalled them....nothing worked.
Got drivers directly from the VIA site.....nothing works Sad

After u install, check device manager. If there are devices without drivers, do an install from there. If there is no sound device there at all, either a, sound disable in the bios or b the sound chip gone through.
