Title: Tekken 6 (Multiplatform)
Post by: TheApprentice on October 09, 2008, 12:19:31 AM
Quote
During his keynote at the 2008 Tokyo Game Show, Microsoft's John Schappert announced that beloved fighting franchise Tekken would be making the leap to the Xbox 360 in 2009 with Tekken 6. The Xbox 360 version will feature the Bloodline Rebellion update that recently went live in Japanese arcades, which introduces two new characters, Alisa Boskonovich and Lars Alexanderson. This marks the first time the series has appeared outside of a Sony, and while it isn't an exclusive, Tekken 6 with Xbox Live multiplayer is a major boon for 360 owners around the world. Look for it next fall.

I in dis. rb you BETTER still be playin dis (AND sf4) by de time I visitin in december. Went to sweat some sf last week and NOBODY was playin it. 30 big men crowded round 5 setups of just t6. Game decent though. Got a copy thursday and workin on it since. Was never the tekken pro but given some time I might give allyuh competition jus now. I have it on 360 dis time too (TE stick ftw) but I hear lag issues are a problem. Only people I playin wit so far live pretty close.

If there is anybody who does sweat Tekken in the arcade (like in Galactica) there is Good News.....umm...as well as Bad News.

The newly opened arcade, Playdium (behind Sting in Gulf View, La Romain), has the official sit-down Tekken 6 arcade cabinet! The cost of a coin is currently the same as Galactica/FunStation.

The bad news is that the game currently requires 4 tokens per game. Yea, currently that's spending $10 to lose a match.

Now, it may not have made sense mentioning this news but hey, maybe somebody might wanna try it out once or just probably take a picture while sitting on the game or something.

Or just do like me, forget it and boast that I already have the official cabinet at Home....PSHome that is. Get it?...whatever.

I don't see myself as betraying Galactica (as I work for them)...I'm just unbiased when it comes to these things. But I've got news from a Galactica head that Tekken 6 is right around the corner. My guess is that it would be in Gulf by this year and cost $2.50 to $3.00 per game and would come as a kit installed in an normal cabinet. I'm also pretty sure that they won't do what they did with SFIV in Gulf City, which is run the game on a 360 in the cabinet.

Your choice: $10 Tekken in Playdium (with official cabinet), or (in the near future) $3 hardcore gaming in Galactica against some of the best of T&T's Tekken Arcade players. Show what you've learned on the console to everyone, without lag.

got damn @ $10.00

I want to support the arcade scene but after spending so much on a ps3, a copy of the game and an hd tv, coffers are dry.

I've been to Playdium and it hurts....it really hurts looking at the token costs and the quantity of tokens per game.
A typical "good" game is gonna run you $5 to $10tt. If you playing with a friend, you looking at $10ea in some cases.
It crazy.. Then you seeing all these kids putting hundreds of dollars into the machines (token dispensers) for tokens.
I mean people could spend their money how they wish...but that place just friggin ridiculous with those prices.
All those noobs paying money to play games at Playdium's prices really need to be educated about Game Consoles :P

Lol, yeah those people need to learn how much they could be saving by getting a console. But nothing is wrong with the arcade, it's just that Playdium is too expensive.
There's a 'decent' Tekken 6 in Galactica (Gulf City) that takes just 1 token ($2.50). While Playdium has the perfect gaming look, you get better Tekken (and SFIV) competition in Galactica because of the low token-cost.

Tekken 6 is in Galactica in Trincity but the setup is HORRIBLE.

You have to have fingers like ET to play on that.  Imagine playing tekken on a mortal kombat 3 setup minus the block button.  Three button and four button inputs are a pain.  The game timer is set to 40 seconds to make up for the fact that after you lose, you have to wait until the winner is about to fight the cpu before the coin you put in can activate the game.

Fun times if you already have carpal tunnel.

LOL, yeah. When I saw what they did, I was horrified. I thought about how people had to suffer just watching the game in front of them but won't dare play it. I tried it a couple times just to fight somebody and I had to use my index and ring fingers to play. Horrible.
SFIV would fare better on it as most SF-people just hit the buttons. Actually SFIV was meant to be on that machine but there was some problems so they put Tekken.
I think they should just use the SF-EX Plus cabinet as that game shouldn't exist. But I dunno if Galactica will listen to me; though they do sometimes.
40s in Tekken 6 is stupid especially since fights last longer than before.
I'm glad to say that Galactica in Trincity did get some cool racing titles. Tokyo Drift and NFS Underground. I still prefer Carbon over any NFS, which Playdium has but....$10 per game...no way.

lol, a man say he waste his money on Tekken 6 yes.

Well I wouldn't go that far, though it was a lil disappointing to see the game wasn't in 1080p like Tekken 5 DR.

and granted, didn't feel like the next gen title it should have been, but a waste of money? that's harsh.

Soul Calibur 4 is good but likewise, doesn't feel like next gen over 3. they coulda go the capcom route and call it Turbo or Super or something. lol
