http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/mass-effect-2/986229p1.html (http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/mass-effect-2/986229p1.html)
this is particularly interesting...
# Story - The ultimate story is still civilization fending off the Reapers, but this chapter will deal with this Cerebus corporation and it's enigmatic leader. There are human civilizations disappearing and it's up to Shepard to investigate, it's termed as a "suicide mission" which may lead to the details of the teaser.
-

This game is looking real good, check the link for the start of the game. Spoliers in there so be warned....
http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/17/hands-on-mass-effect-2-the-first-90-minutes/
With the game set to ship out on January 26, EA held one last hands-on sneak preview of Mass Effect 2 on Wednesday night in San Francisco. We were there, of course, intrigued by an invitation that promised we'd learn what something called "Project Lazarus" was -- as it turned out, it's a crucial part of the game's plot that makes an appearance in the first 20 minutes.
We know that because -- save for some optimizations here and there -- we played the first hour-and-a-half of a finished Mass Effect 2, from the title screen until being politely informed that we were about to enter forbidden plot territory. Which is surprising, considering that the opening of the game, apart from being one of the most dramatic we've witnessed in recent memory, is also chockablock with pretty huge plot twists.
That said, we must warn you that the preview after the break contains what some may consider MAJOR SPOILERS -- so if you want the beginning of the game and the surprises it holds to remain unrevealed until launch day, seriously ... don't read any further.

-
Have vacation in March (rubs fingers)
-
allyuh men brisk yes lol.
tempted to touch...i mean 'test' :happy0203:
ok i did some lil reading up on this one.
a word of warning. this game is being watched eh and heavily so.
-
what's that supposed to mean berzerk? shed some light.
-
there are certain firms monitoring the torrent for this.
some people who downloaded this torrent and used peerblock found suspicious ips monitoring their pc.
just a warning. all in all if yuh downloading just be lil more careful than usual.
and quite a few people in different forums are saying the same thing. so it warrants looking into.
yup dragon age leaked early. as did batman.
-
So what, these 'firms' gonna call TSTT/Flow and have them whip us?
:laughing7: Really Bezerker...
-
wouldnt hurt to not have yuh ip on a list being perused by international internet security firms eh?
all im saying is to be a lil cautious. it wouldnt hurt.
-
.....and I can just reboot my Blink modem and change said IP.
So, again, why is this significant?
-
cause if u are downloading, and uploading said file the new ip will still be tracked. the game itself is being monitored along with the ips torrenting it.
there a problem with showing some kinda caution?
-
Even if your ip changes, TSTT have ways of tracking which customer recieved which IP at which time.
Not impossible.
-
:laughing7: @ Berzerker ...Of course not. I'm just being facetious, but I still think this is a non issue.
The people who are torrenting this are -mostly- tech-savvy enough so that this 'monitoring'
is not an issue for them. Even less so for those outside of the US.
@ Cap ...and just how many people in TnT would be downloading this? Exactly. Non-issue. Nexxxxxt.
If you have a fixed IP, then you can worry, but my IP changes so many times a week, that
I honestly wouldn't worry about this. Not that I'm downloading it or anything.
I personally find ME's gameplay too plodding.
-
Even if your ip changes, TSTT have ways of tracking which customer recieved which IP at which time.
Not impossible.
yes but that would also mean tstt would be breaking some laws in doing so.
doesnt mean it would stop them, but would be fun to sue their asses for it.
-
Didn't some people report getting warning letters (movie downloads) from Flow a while back? or was that just a hoax someone made up lol
-
nope it wasnt a hoax....
-
Didn't some people report getting warning letters (movie downloads) from Flow a while back? or was that just a hoax someone made up lol
Berzerker himself got a call from FLOW a while back over a movie he was downloading. Copyright owners called Columbus USA, who then called Columbus TT. Was told to stop or have his service disconnected. You can't blame him for his paranoia.
-
It is always a risk, copyright babylon are everywhere hehe.
-
lol @ 'copyright babylon' :laughing7:
-
Good thing i have Fallout 3 to occupy me for now lol. This could wait a while.
-
is amazing how many breaches of law companies get away with here.
Sooo any early reviews?
-
Just one....

I skimmed through the review for fear of spoilers but sounds like the game is near perfect!!
slight wtmc @ commentators saying that a PS3 matches the graphics of a US$2000.00 PC.
These people need to get off whatever controlled substance they're on yes.

time magazine calls Mass Effect 2 the "Avatar" of video games
TIME Magazine's article "The Short List of Things to Do" is a guide to what you should see, what you should skip and what you won't be able to avoid. Inside that list figures Bioware's Mass Effect 2 at # 3 for the week of January 22 calling it " the Avatar of video games — except it's better written "
" The state of the art in grand-scale, two-disc space operas, Mass Effect 2 picks up two years after the end of the first installment of its galactic-noir story line. With beefier combat added to the role-playing, it's the Avatar of video games — except it's better written. "
thats a dam good compliment if u ask me.....makes me want to get my 360 more now

Mass Effect 1 saves (because stuff from ME1 carries over to ME2):
http://www.annakie.com/me/home.htm (http://www.annakie.com/me/home.htm)
Tons of Shepards to choose from. Useful for people who haven't played ME1 or maybe lost their save files.
I plan to re-play ME1 so I'm not using this myself.
-
The game looks good, I'm sure it will get good reviews :)

damn good compliment, not that I consider Time Magazine an expert on gaming, nor Avatar a perfect movie, but damn good compliment all the same.
bluvice, why you want a 360 to play me2 and not a pc?

Wow that vanguard class lookin wickeddddd

am I reading this right? People who pirate the game could still acess the Cerberus Network for additional Dlc, for a payment of 15 Usd?
Named "The Cerberus Network," the program is free to all of those who buy a copy of Mass Effect 2 new at retail or via digital distribution. But to players who obtain a copy without an unused Cerberus code -- namely, a used or pirated copy -- access costs $15.

prob cuz he already have a bess tv and lets face it, it is more cost effective to get a 360, not only that he could prob beast some other 360 games...i like meh pc...but no one here could deny that it becoming a raper-man platform...we getting real shaft by the devs, and the cost of a few parts alone prob = the cost of a 360 + a game...

I disagree with the cost effectiveness of the 360, after having a few fail on me and the hassle of returning to ms for repair I not too sure about that nah, turned me off from the platform totally.
-
Also, I doubt he's posting from his ps3. If you already have a pc in the house, a tt$500 graphics card would get you me2 ready.
Don't have to go for broke like messiah.

http://kotaku.com/5455307/bioware-hollywood-very-interested-in-mass-effect-film (http://kotaku.com/5455307/bioware-hollywood-very-interested-in-mass-effect-film)
BioWare: Hollywood Very Interested in Mass Effect Film
BioWare's Casey Hudson, the project director for Mass Effect 2, acknowledged a "tremendous amount of interest" from Hollywood in a Mass Effect film but vows such a movie, if done, will be done right or not at all.
"Obviously we have a tremendous amount of interest from people in Hollywood to make a major motion picture about 'Mass Effect,'" Hudson told the MTV Movies Blog. "The most important thing for us is, we don't just want to see a movie get made. We want to see a great movie get made, if it's going to get done at all."
Way back in the middle of 2008, Avi Arad, best known for several successful (and some less so) comic-book adaptations, optioned the rights to a Mass Effect film. But there has been no news of such a project since then. This may be deliberate. Hudson's comments make it apparent that BioWare isn't in a hurry and wants to be sure the film has a story worthy of this franchise.
"We're just looking at our options there, but waiting to make sure we have something really right before we do it," he told MTV Movies.

damn good compliment, not that I consider Time Magazine an expert on gaming, nor Avatar a perfect movie, but damn good compliment all the same.
bluvice, why you want a 360 to play me2 and not a pc?
My answer to this (although not directed at me was simple)
I played KoTOR first on the XBOX and got used to the radial menu system. Since then I have played Bioware games on console. I can actually nav the radial menu like a friggin beast now after KoTor 1, 2 (not by Bio), Jade, ME, DA..and now this. So for me im used to it
Granted the recent upgrades on my PC would look better, but all my saves (story dev, extra items for DA and ME1) are stored in the 360. So i got all that already. Dont matter to me. Im comfortable with the controls
BTW the game ROCKING HARD!
Controls tighter, Shep can now slide into position GoW style, better physics, better textures, better lighting, better modeling.....better everything. You can even run when not in combat which used to be annoying. Only played an hour or so...but so far im hooked ME style again!
-
Yes this game is going real good! Ah love a good scifi rpg
-
2 moar dayz :(

Wheys I playin de game and answering questions like I would in real life, but WDA I only gettin one setta renegade points.

damn good compliment, not that I consider Time Magazine an expert on gaming, nor Avatar a perfect movie, but damn good compliment all the same.
bluvice, why you want a 360 to play me2 and not a pc?
PC ah man say dey?.............naaaa dem days long long gone
not really into PC gaming anymore, constant having to upgrade every year, plus not all d games i wanna play, plus while a mouse good for FPS d keyboard is ass imo
reason i buyin a 360 is not JUST for ME2 dat wud b very dumb (hence d reason i dont hav a Wii yet)
gettin for games like ME1&2, Halo Reach (hadda get da), Alan Wake, the game formerly known as Splinter cell (lets face it Sam runnin an gunnin is NOT SC) and other key exclusives also especially d 1s with multiplayer
-

Mass Effect 2 Drunk Shepard (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUQhCTcIa7c#ws)
-
Playing it on PC for a week now......there is alot of stuff to do like wow 0_o. Game also runs pretty well , i've been running it on full settings. I imported my save as well my Shepard goes like this; Sentinel class, Earthborn, Wrex and Kaiden survived the mission on Virmire, Ashley wasn't so fortunate and my Shephard was with Liara.
-
beat this game a few days ago. this game had me going from day one and by far one of the bess games i played. i played as a soldier first time around and i'll be starting over as a vanguard next time going total renegade
-
loved it, as i knew i would, i cant wait for part 3, if the rumors about a movie are true that getting meh money too
-
beat it a couple weeks ago. might play through the end level again seeing as a couple of my ppl died during the fight. this game's the very definition of EPIC.
-
played it beat it loved it.
no one died in meh party. :happy0203:
game was too friggin easy tho. played it on hard too.
still prefer Dragon Age tho.
-
^^ U played it on insanity difficulty level?
-
might do a renegade run through on insanity
-
Playing on veteran. As for renegade or paragon I make decisions based on how im feeling at the time, tho my renegade bar is about half full :awesome:
-
lolz
Been playing this for a week, a real fun game but the side quest starting to get to me. The mining for minerals is a nice touch, found a couple interesting missions while doing some scanning over all a very addictive game, should have played part 1.
-
^^Getting to u in a good way or bad? lol. In ME1 instead of scanning for minerals u were dropped onto the planet and drove around in an exploration vehicle, glad they changed that for ME2.
-
anyone installed the update?
-
what update?
and i real addicted to scanning planets lol
but i real trying to earn dat money.. kinda vex that money hard to get in this versus the first one

never played me1 but started over as a vanguard on insanity...harder than a mofo
-
meh update doesnt seem important
vanguard is what iam playing as well.. played a sniper in the first one
shoulda play biotic to start with..
leveling is really secondary in this game.. thats cool
kudos to bioware for making an rpg fps epic that is action stratergy and story driven
but not level driven.
I would have rathered it be as item driven as the first game though... its ingrained in me to want better better best gear
-
Yea i'm playing as a sentinel as I did in ME1. Biotics FTW. But u have a point i do miss equipping items to my armor and weapons tho letting u customize your armor's look is kewl.
-
I jus finished this game........EPIC!!!!! DAM EPIC!!!! I gonna replay this for sure, take a day to relax from it then it's galaxy saving time again :cowboy: 2 of my team members died tho :\ but my favorites survived
-
Yeah Larutus, I realize some games doing that. I think it's a slap in the face for CRT owners. Go HD or die. lol
You needed a magnifying glass to read the SF4 and Tekken 6 text if you weren't on an HD screen.
-
attempted to get 100% completion before finishing, only thing left is a few planets to explore
but ZOMGGGGG that final scene was frakkin epic!@!!
on second playthough now
-
Yea i on my 2nd play through as well. Decided to start from fresh this time and see how it would turn out.
-
Kasumi DLC Montage - Mass Effect 2 (http://www.gametrailers.com/video/kasumi-dlc-mass-effect/63465)

-
Just finished this masterpiece
No doubt it is truly deserving of a Game Of The Year award.
No one died on my run, everyone came out of that suicide mission alive. Can't wait to see whats in store for Shepard in Mass Effect 3.
My hats off to the team that put this title together yes. They truly out did themselves.
-
BIOWARE FTW!!!!
