When Blazblue was announced last year I was pretty skeptical, why the hell was Arc putting out a game that was not Guilty Gear X3. Their previous offerings had mixed reviews, Hokuto No Ken was probably the most broken game of all time and Sengoku Basara X was a failure for the most part. As more info became available it became clear that this was not a generic GGXX clone but it was something more, as vids came online my interest in the game grew, to the point where Street Fighter 4 became a game to hold me over til this game came out.
So now the game is out. The verdict ? Its bleeping amazing (and looks even more amazing in HD)
This game isn't that noob friendly and if you're like most and don't like to work for a win this game is not for you. I had a hard time learning what the hell I was watching on the screen while attacks were flying here and there. Combos aren't as easy like in Guilty Gear where you could dial a combo with some characters, no this game requires more thinking and fishing for opponent mistakes.
Overall you need to play smarter to win, knowing the character matchups plays an integral part in the competitive aspect of the game, the last boss is toned down to playable form , is the top character in the game with a major advantage vs some characters.
Training mode is very detailed, with options for seemingly everything.
The netcode is clearly the BEST NETCODE EVER. SF4 doesn't come close, and to top HD Remix netcode is pretty impressive. Just last night I was playing some guy online, only to find out afterwards that he was from japan, I got a pretty sweet cutarse and enjoyed every minute of it. This brings me to the next best thing, replay saving, this is something all fighters should have imo, the ability to save the replays of matches in vs and online, saved a couple replays online and gonna capture them later on.
My single gripe with the game is the easy specials option which noobs are abusing online. Why the hell put in one button attacks anyway. The upside is that there are several filters available when searching for matches.
The gamerankings average for this game is 90% and many reviewers have called this game a legitimate threat to SF4's crown. I don't think SF4 is gonna lose steam as it is more noob friendly with its simplified inputs and all that, but hey what do I know.
Bottom Line - The game is good, get it if it's your cup of tea or if you think you can handle the pressure.

I like my fightesr mean! Have enough trouble dealing with ridicule for Panda in Tekken 5 dr from the misses.

The designs are "interesting" as expected from GG creators.

Arakune is weird, it so hard to fight to against it because shit flying at you from all directions.
Rachel is the vampire chick, she's the character i use, kinda plays like dizzy from GGXX.
Can't say much about catgirl, haven't touched her, but some people have rushed me down online.
Bang is a serious man, he gets his own theme song when he does his special super.

I got the game for the PS3 and I've gotta say this is an amazing game. If you can get the limited edition for the training videos, or torrent it. It really helps to see these videos as the game does play a bit different from other fighters.
Like rb said you really got to work for your combos, its not just about learning the actual move, its about pressuring or baiting your opponent into position. I tried online today and it played eggcellent, I got my ass handed to me pretty much everytime, my first match was against a level 20 v-13, almost loss double perfect.
Yes this game does not have mainstream appeal but for anyone who really like fighting games this should be a must buy.

i not dat hardcore bout fighters either (usually buy dem for my bro an he bredrin) but d features nice and i keep hearin that d training vids real helpful

They very helpful, especially for this kind of game. They even give you some pretty advanced strategies with each character. The only thing better would be showing you how to counter some of those advanced strategies.

kaizen uses noel's chain revolver drive to deal out some decent damage, never realized how annoying it was when noel starts her chain revolver cause it makes her invincible for like 1/2 second and is immediately followed by its first attack... it can completely screw your combo/ counter attack over lol
BluVice u should play with kaizen and me sometime its fun seeing and playin them crazy blazblue fights

tried to record one of the vids with my tv card, but the laptop its installed it to broken for it to work correctly, maybe if i get a webcam borrowed or something i'll try to record it but thoses things usually look terrible....
anyway went back again fighting kaizen... got some nice hard hitting zero-gun distortion drives from his noel while trying play iron tager and ragna... after a while i realized my ragna really had no chance cuz i kept getting punished from chain revolver rushing into him, lol, was good fun before PSN randomly started to kick me off the network, tho i assume its my shitty ISP blink doing it -.-

i got a dazzle recorder, really easy to setup an capture only problem is u hadda play in SD.
the HAVA wireless HD allows u to play in HD and record HD footage but that expensive (around $200US)
still need a VDA to record tho, them cheap ass splitters ah hav not cutting it

-sigh- I'm lacking the patience for this game. Anybody knows how precise you have to be to IB? The amt of things they tried to put into this game is starting to remind me of AC a bit (in a bad way). I want to be good at it but it seems almost impossible unless I drop sf4 altogether for a while. And it's bad enough switching to stick. /rant.
Good to see people sweating it though. Wish I had more people with a good green connection that I know to practice with. Have to wait til December to play any trinis.

humm not to sure all about the abbreviation... if you mean IB = Instant block its done within the first 8 frames, and ofcourse blazblue is played at 60 frames per-second so it ain't the easiest thing to do thats for sure. as for AC i'm guessing thats "accent core" but since this is the successor to GGX series it really shouldn't be that big of a surprise how the game feels.... SF4 didn't really keep my interest for long, only SF game i liked hell of alot was Capcom vs SNK 2 (mainly cause i like the fact i can beat the shit outta ken and ryu with snk character lol)
here's to hoping thats the next title they remake in "HD" as a DLC game cuz i would love to kick some more ppl's ass with king of fighters, samurai shodown and of course hibiki from the last blade series =]

Ah yes just got back from a SF4 tourney in town, got to play Kai finally, he doing pretty good, beat me a few games with Noel. Lots of the guys who were spectating were interested in the game so I can see how the game could develop into a tourney game locally. Keep practicing :)

yeah it is comming to pc, i know a few ppl that will be excited about this, they are great GGX players on pc but they are hardcore pc gamers that don't aint gonna spend cash buying a console. for now i can beat the crap outta them in blazblue but i'm sure after i give em a week or 2 on pc, i'll be getting some dam good fights... pc blazblue is great news to me, might pick it up if it comes out on steam... also heard blazblue going to be on psp next year as well

Continuum shit completely screwed over rachel, she got nurfed the hardest, and as far as i know tager got even more powerful, like double guard libra, jump faster and moves faster, made certain moves he had that use to knock the enemy back far, now makes them still within range of combos.... from what i saw some of the game balancing makes sense tho i still thing they over did it on rachel

The game is new give it some time. Someone might find something useful.

Oh i was saying that stuff based on what the community compiled around the videos that are out of the arcade version of the game, i do know that this does not mean that it be exactly the same for the console release however if gives a good idea of what to expect from the upcomming console version.

You all should check this crazy hakumen player out, he's in score attack mode, u can watch the whole thing if u want its decent to see the combos but the highlight was around 2:50... thats what happens when u piss off an a great hakumen player online xD

i've played the hacked one as well on pc, but since i have no decent game pad for pc, doing combo's on the keyboard is a bit difficult since i haven't done it since back in the ggx days when i actually use to play it on keyboard =/
when this hits online, the tager player's will be real crazy with these improvements they got

PC version is for Calamity Trigger, which is the older version. OK for people that never played any game in the series but stuff has changed in Continuum Shift (there's a hacked arcade version for pc floating around).
But the good part is that this was supposedly GFWL which means good netplay.

I remember having what I guess was de older version on my pc a long time back, but always never had de time to play dis series, and also because dis game/series was juss weird to me yes. Watched de matches on de EVO live stream tho and it juss confirmed my feelings dat I would most likely not play/buy dis game(well I might if I get it for free with de stick I plan to buy at one point in time).
