Rally game DiRT 3 will be released in the same window, Cousens revealed.
"What we're not going to do is do more of the same with each rendition of the game," Cousens promised. "There is a lot more to it.
"Let's put it into context. It's from probably the finest racing studio in the world. It's between us and the Need for Speed guys, and I would argue we're better."
The next game in the Race Driver: GRID series will be released in 2012.
"We're not difficult to predict," Cousens said. "If DiRT comes out next year, GRID will come out the following year, and then DiRT will be out the year after that. So you can map us out.
"Sitting alongside that will be F1 every year. Flashpoint we'll do every other year. The idea is to come up with a new IP that sits in opposite years to each other, but we're in the racing segment and the action segment.

...because most of us who play arcade-style racing games don't use it. Codemasters said it themselves. The majority of players use chase view (like me) or bonnet/bumper view.
I guess it will save time and money from having to model all those different car interiors.
Hardcore sim-racers probably wouldn't be flocking in droves to Grid 2 in any case.

GRID 2 cockpit cam removed due to console limitations

GRID 2's cockpit cam was removed because of the technical limitations of current-gen consoles, Codemasters has stated.
Speaking to FirstLook, GRID 2 producer Vincent Muelle claimed that the removal of the cockpit cam, which has been present in almost all of Codemasters' racing games throughout this generation, "was a really big decision" for the team, but that its removal allowed Codemasters "to push other things in the game".
"If we just had to do this game for PC we obviously would have a cockpit cam," Muelle said, "but we only have so much power to play with [referring to consoles].

Yes it does.
GMG basically just gives you the codes to unlock it on Steam.
You have to play the game through Steam anyway. There's no other DRM-free version.

Yep. Two codes.
One is for the game itself, and the other unlocks the 'Headstart Pack', which is the pre-order bonus.

So, they give you a preorder code to apply right away, before the game launches then?
Because as far as i see, there are 3 bonuses to be gotten on steam, and only one code mentioned on GMG.
If they give you a code right away upon purchase, and you see Grid 2 on ur steam library right away, then yeah u get the steam bonuses as well.
But some sites give you the key upon release, meaning, no additional pre-order bonuses unless purchased from steam.

Visual fidelity is top notch, as is the feel.
As in the previous game, the physics charts a nice course between sim and arcade control.
Racing fans...do not walk....RUN, and buy this game. :icon_thumleft:

I can attest to saying a physical PC copies at the moment is not even Alpha, if that much. Its basically shit in a box done for marketing and only for promotion. There are no submission standards for PC games.

I dig why people enjoy GRID, loved the drifting in the first one. Did they add more car customization or pink slips (car clubs etc) to Grid 2?

I played forza3 in my brief console days. Forza seems to definitely have more depth customization wise. Grid 2 is more of a pick up and play type game with excellent tracks and car handling.
My personal rating so far, a sold 3.5 hubcaps out of 5.

PC people really are clever and dedicated folks. If they’re not inventing new and grotesque ways to contort the G-Man’s face and limbs, they’re making mods for games that have only been out for a few hours. Codemasters didn’t include cockpit views in their enjoyably silly racing-game-with-a-plot, GRID 2. The reason given was that only 5% of people who played the original ever used the in-car cams and “they are expensive to run due to the requirement for high-resolution interior textures which are seen close-up and require a considerable amount of in-game memory (to store) and processing (to render).” Intelligent sorts have already modded the game, adding cockpit views, and, lo, the interiors are indeed low resolution, but there are already folks working to sharpen the whole thing up.
Irrelevant to me either way, but it's great that the game can be modded to include it.
