Hello Guildmates, and tnx for the likes in details to the Perler bead art.

Currently the idea of this craft was in hopes i can get sales from making these crafts.

(oh btw, my album so far is on my Facebook page, hit it up here)

http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150300019588303.340388.693618302 (http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150300019588303.340388.693618302)

So interested in this type of crafts? well here's the deal on this then without giving away trade secrets ;)

These beads are brought in from the US, and i order them from www.amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com) www.koolstuff4kids.com (http://www.koolstuff4kids.com) or www.perlerbeads.com (http://www.perlerbeads.com)

Typically my orders range around 50-80 US via Rebublic VTM card. You'll be using a lot of white/black for detailing.
(Ignore the cutesy logos on the bins, focus on your patterns at hand you wish to make)

Now you did notice i didn't mention glue, well that's the fun part... These beads melt under heat applied, meaning you iron them for it to bind together. To those who are blessed with patience this craft is great for them. Very decorative and you get cool points for having any toon or game design on your walls, light switches, Rear view mirror hangs and necklace/pins.

Currently deciding how much to sell these for, and i work by Orders alone. Feel free to reply here or on FaceBook if you'd like to join me in this gaming crafts.

To wet your interest in this craft, have a look at these videos

Perler bead sprites (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fae_s6pR8p8#)
(More) Video game necklaces (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtNB3j38kZg&feature=related#) (this was the one that got me started)
Perler Bead Sprite Art (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEMRv4vxorE#ws) (Jowy's tutorial)

and before you think this an only make small stuff, watch this...
PERLER BEAD VIDEO II.dv (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4difZGkn30#) (mega perler bead spirtes) @_<
Perler Bead Sprites (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95Me5FdlWgM#)

There are a few more vids i can post, but i think the drool will short out your laptop/ruin your keyboard.
There is an expansion idea i have in mind, but will only discuss it with persons who are willing to work along with me.

Now you made your orders, got your boards in order, googled your sprites, only to stare at your 22,000 bead tub and realize, "What the *bleep* i have to sort ALL of these beads?" Sadly yes, they must be sorted out by hand if you wish to make progress with your designs. Bead Cafe in POS sells nice bead bins and cost $35-$65 TT per bin. Typically a tub of beads has around 15-20 color shades so you'll need a bead container with that amount of slots.

Sorting is the longest part of this craft, and really tests your patience and tolerance. I do advise finding a room free of kids and pets as well as a light color carpet, cause beads will drop and seeking that one bead to finish a pattern will cause hair loss xD. If you're as lucky as i am, and know family/friend who can sort rice and has good eyesight, they'll rule as a sorter. [Then again, why spoil your sorting fun :)]

So to all you crafters out there that wish to chat me up on the details, drop me a line on my facebook, e-mail me, or MSN Messenger chat me @ dare2badaniel@hotmail.com

This is the pattern I'm currently building from.
Cya until another post. (applogies to Admin if this post is too long..)

Tnx Q, that's the plan. Hope the guy in Gamezone in Movietowne accepts them for display to advertise and to sell =D just 5 more Marios to go before I display them for sale.

Next will be a tribute to Zelda 25th Anniversary, i plan to have it as a Zelda Symphony look, it's the sprites and the editing is the tough part to do. :yay:

Star power/Invincible Mario SMB3

At the start, didn't have exact colors for his overalls, but in the end came out pretty ok

Tanooki Suit Mario Statue form. This little monster just like it's namesake kept crumbling and was stubborn to be pressed. But i stuck with it and didn't take it for granite  :happy0203:

2 More to go!!!!!

I'm sold so far. Can I make requests? If I send you a hi-res .bmp for example, could you replicate it?
Title: Re: Perler Bead art
Post by: TriniLink on October 18, 2011, 02:31:37 AM
Send it, and I'll see if i have the work space to make the pattern you send over, remember 2 things, ratio of 1 pixel to one bead and my current allotted space is 26 inches squared per board x7 boards.

I think what will be easier reference is the sprite i used for that Master Key, i'll refresh the post so you'll have an idea of what size sprite = to bead ratio.

Also all the Mario models i did was on one board except the first classic Mario, so that will give you an idea how big it'll turn out.
Also compare the Mario sprite strip in my earlier post for the ratios.

Send me your sprite picture to my e-mail and I'll let you know if I'm currently able to make the design and the final cost.  :sassy:
Title: Re: Perler Bead art
Post by: Q on October 18, 2011, 12:24:25 PM
My Sig.

I'll check the details as to exactly how many pixels it is but can you do it? Can you do justice to the Flag of Team Trini Dai-Gurren?
Title: Re: Perler Bead art
Post by: TriniLink on October 18, 2011, 12:51:27 PM
Phew, what a stretch... Nice signature flag, but it'll need 45 boards to complete and currently i only got 7 to work with. The finished flag will measure up to be aprox. 30 inches tall by 40 inches long ( 2 1/2 feet tall x 3 1/3 feet long)  :ko:

As for the cost, can't estimate atm. As far as i can guess it'll turn out to be bigger than our own Country's flag itself.  :happy0203:

Tnx Mod, and yw Q :)

Damn, homey... That alone gives me an idea of how heavy the task will be. The size and everything sounds great but I won't ask you to break your back with it just yet, lol.

Thanx for the info so far, though. Just knowing that it's possible is enough for now.

Without further ado, here's the Collector's set of The Legend of Zelda.

LoZ one Hero Link
(http://www.321cheese.com/img_80NMkXEra8vV.png)
(More to come)

The Hero's Keyring. If lost in any Zelda Dungeon, use this to get out.  :happy0203:

Composed of all the keys over the whole series, I figure the  Twilight Princess keys will be real trouble to do in beads because they are in 3D, especially the Goron Master key. :ko: If so i'll stick to the 2D keys.

Notice: To all Guildmates, please state which of the Mario or Zelda character sprites you'd like to reserve for Christmas.

It'll be tough that one person buys out what the other wishes to purchase, so please text/email me me which  one(s) I've done so far to be reserved for Christmas so i can have an idea if to make more of one type to meet the Christmas demand.

Also feel free to send me game sprites for me to evaluate and quote you to be made out, the cost involved and the availability of them.

Tnx to all who supported me so far, and I hope that soon the name "Knick Knacks" will become a common name when it comes to crafts and supplies.  :awesome:

Can anyone guess what i made next? Nope, not Mario, neither Zelda...
It's.....

:dropjaw: In Memory of a Gaming legend and his Creator... Hope we see you return again someday in some form or fashion, W00t! :yay:

Maker's Notes: I've begun to notice larger sprites require a delicate way of sealing up the beads or it'll crumble, this is a humbling experience for the future on how to heat seal these big designs. :D

Size is about 6 inches tall by 5.90 inches wide for Main sprite, Fireball is 3 1/2 inches tall by 3 inches wide.

Simply put, collect and pay for either one ( or both) at Teckno Junkies. Just head down there, walk up and down, hem and haw, study how to hide it from the wife and possibly the kids, then after 2 hours of being conspicuous decide the one you wish to buy.  :awesome: :happy0203:

Hmmm.. methinks if i make these sprites too fast, Wyatt and others will be left in a daze considering what to buy. :happy0203:

He's about twice as big as Megaman X and that was sold for $150.00 TT
I'll have a final price in the week, given making these bigger ones are quite challenging given they can crumble real fast if not fused right. ( and trust me, Zero give me real trouble twice before he kept his final shape) :ko:

Navi: HEY HEY LISTEN!!!!
To Wyatt and Q and those who purchased sprites from Knick Knacks, can you take a pic of where you have your sprite displayed in your home/gameroom? I'd like to have it as promotion for the business as I get ready to register it officially. If the place with it is messy; as I know most gaming rooms are; send a pic of yourself holding it. Thanks to all for your patronage.

Here's a question for you, What were boos from Super Mario Bros. 3 before they died?
He glows in the dark, click the picture for his real size. maybe a few centimeters smaller all around give or take 5-10 cms.

My latest big perler project is giving me beans to complete, it fell apart on my worktable, piecing it back together like a ancient relic atm. One thing is sure when it's done it'll be "Legendary." You all will see soon enough.. ;)
