Title: A heads up to anyone interested in Call of Duty: Ghosts for the PC
Post by: D2ultima on November 11, 2013, 05:58:32 PM
Hey. I like never post here, so you know this is something real special. Basically, after encountering the horrible, terrible, ungodly excuse that is a "PC version" of Call of Duty: Ghosts, I had to come and tell users about it. I don't want more people to waste money on such a disgusting version of a game. If you think you'll enjoy the game yourself, get it for Xbox 360. Or PS3. Or Xbox 1. Or PS4. I frankly don't care if you buy it multiple times either, but the PC version is so terrible, so bad, so awful, that I have made a pastebin of a LONG list of reasons as to why this is so. So if you guys were wondering (for some reason) "Should I get this game for PC?", then read this, and if you STILL don't think it's a bad idea, go forth with the knowledge you've gained.

Pastebin of reasons: http://pastebin.com/R0F2YkMy

I actually believe this deserves it's own thread.

Bravo, brother.

I don't even want it free...and I won't waste time on the single-player either.

The 'real' Infinity Ward is now known as Respawn Entertainment.

Skip forward to 26:00 of this vid...

Man, it's seeing his video that I decided I should make the longer list of reasons. Because it's just... it's not WORTH IT. I got it free, and I'm not even playing it. At least I played MW3 and stuff, and that was back with the old PC in my sig that I have yet to update to my new PC. But this... this is just terrible.
The SP is no better or worse than any MW3 really. I've played a little of it, but it's a basic, generic CoD campaign. Black Ops 2's SP was far better in quality, with unlocking weapons and doing challenges in each level and choosing your own loadout. It's a huge step backward in terms of playability; even though I like the idea of them not giving you 15 different waypoints just to cross a courtyard.

But as I said, this thread's SOLE purpose was to talk about the PC port in itself, and I leave NO mention of the gameplay or the game's mechanics otherwise. If you want to find out if it's a good multiplayer game or if the SP campaign is good, there are at least a hundred different review sites or you can go to metacritic or whatever, but an in-depth review of the PC port is a difficult thing to come by.

...which is why I appreciate TB's vid so much, because he actually shows you the issues with the PC version itself, and explains in great detail why it's 'not worth your time'.

When someone could say a VIDEO of the game isn't worth your time...well......  :laughing7:

Wow first time I haven't bought a cod in years. Got BF4 instead. Seems I made the right choice.

Same thing I said in the pastebin too. DICE actually are fixing and working on it and informing us of updates, and they have separated the PC version's updates from the console. They get my vote, whether I like CoD as a game or Battlefield as a game. Despite the TERRIBLE release of BF4 on PC (which was arguably worse than CoD, because at least CoD is PLAYABLE without constant crashing of servers/losing hours of stats) DICE fixed, is fixing, and WILL fix it. So they have the right attitude. So kudos to them, and good luck to them for it.

Again, speaking STRICTLY in terms of PC version vs "PC version" *cough* Xbox 1 ver of Ghosts emulated on PC *cough*

lol, no love for CoD yes.

Battlefield has been a harsh mistress as well. Countless crashes, even after a healthy beta. No game...and I mean NO game in my history of playing games has crashed my machine as much as Battlefield.

That is a real shame. Given the long and colorful relationship we have had with the world premiere vehicular combat title. From the heady days of 1942, then Desert Combat and even the often ignored 2142.

It is a really sad state of affairs for the PC platform when two flagship franchises like CoD and Battlefield can draw so much ire from the fanbase that loves them.

The PC platform is the real loser here. Not DICE, not Activision.

When a gamer wants to get in the scene in 2014....it will be hard in good conscience to recommend a PC over a PS4 / Xbox One.

You really have to be a member of the elite to stomach and wade through this grocery list of issues

What a tragedy in 2013.

One could almost suspect a conspiracy to make the PC platform less attractive by those with vested interest in nextgen consoles.
