At Spike’s VGX tonight, four-man team Hello Games announced a seemingly huge, procedurally generated, first person sci-fi exploration sim called No Man’s Sky.

Yeah boy, not pleased with their emphasis on procedurally generated environment
the fact that this is an indie production not helping. The premise is brilliant, it deserve triple A treatment.
I really doubt a 4 man team could pull it off
We will soon see
If they lapse, well Star Citizen iwmc

Everybody wants a piece of Sean Murray...

The more he explains it...the more it seems like 'snake-oil'. :laughing7:
I'm beginning to understand why some people are skeptical.
Don't get me wrong...I'm securely aboard this particular hype train,
but like everyone else, I'm hungering to see more.
-
lol @ snake oil
ent, I remain optimistically skeptical

I'm placated some what after reading this full article.

However, still in agreement with this guys first comment on the video link where he says:
I'll be more inclined to celebrate the studio after the game is released and is what they promised it to be.

shouldnt that be for EVERY game?
ppl shouldnt overhype and praise a game when its not released. When its released then drop the heaps of praises etc if it deserves it
-
nope, I hold certain game studios in high esteem for past accomplishments and froth at the mouth for any upcoming releases....knowing fully well what they are capable of producing.
Hello Games is a relative new comer with their only previous work to judge them by being this:

Cute....but enough for me to expect No Man's Sky to be a herald for a new age of epic space exploration?
Not so much.
So in this case...my excitement is tamed and a "wait and see" approach takes precedence.
In contrast, I'm giddy for Chris Robert's Star Citizen...it being the spiritual successor to Wing Commander. Games he produced and I ABSOLUTELY loved.

Star Citizen may turn out to be absolute rubbish, lol, but I'm understandably hyped given the pedigree.
-
lol and thats how ppl get suckered
yall hold dice in high regard and they have been using that and releasing garbo for a while now but i guess ppl still gonna hold them in high esteem and not be skeptical about battlefront
respawn omg cod4 devs yeaaa tf turned out to be overrated and over hyped
past work means nothing, its an excuse devs use so they can release crap and patch later
Also on a side note id quicker put more faith in an indie studio than a AAA studio. AAA studios sell their games on words and know they can get away with a broken/unfinished game at launch and patch it up later indies not so much
indies and f2p games gotta actually deliver or no sale.
-
I thoroughly enjoyed Titan Fall, worth every penny I paid. Expectations met and then some!
Battlefield 4 turned out to be a hot mess for technical reasons. When it did work, it was a beautiful game.
They need help in the Q&A department, badly. Some six sigma.
And I think Star Citizen would probably qualify as an indie project.
Don't paint us with such a wide brush. lol
-
Star Citizen is very much an indie project.
The current size of its budget seems to suggest otherwise though, but 'indie' doesn't automatically mean 'small'. It just means the studio is dev and publisher, and not owned by a parent company.
I want Hello Games to succeed at this.
Can you taste my No Man's Sky feels? :laughing7:

This statement I can get behind, THIS! I can co-sign. The thought of the future of gaming only being these small typical "indie-type" games is ludicrous to me. But when you put it like that, then yes.
Cliffy B just announce the next Generation of FPS. a F2P SciFi Arena Shooter that he say going to turn up the industry.
..
Now let me watch this No Man's Sky gameplay, the game 2nd only to Zelda at e3 imo.
-
Now finish watch that vid. This game is highly ambitious and very interesting. go see how it all works out.

I'm wondering what's the expectation when you meet another player?
Do you team up with them, or blast them to smithereens. Can you trade/share materials, resources, weapons?
Wonderful stuff to contemplate.

way they make it sound it would most likely never see other players
wen i think about this game i think about journey and how that game was done
they did say that they might have a more traditional mp added but that isnt the core of the game.
want to see it running with morpheus tbh
