Well, i know that when ever a typical hollywood movie is released, it gets the play it deserves in the pit, but now i wanna create a permanent scene for the indie and cult movies that few have seen but everyone needs to.
Recommendations and comments are most Welcomed.
I shall start off.
1) KIDS: Absolutley amazing documentaryesque film on a day in the life of new york teens and their street life.
This movie raises many many teen issues, and does so in such a realistic manner, that you would swear this was a documentary and not a movie. You become very drawn into the characters and situations. Starring Rosario Dawson in her first role ever (yay).
Check imdb of course for more info and also for purchasing info.
2)BOONDOCK SAINTS: Great movie, not filled with depth such as kids or a typical indie movie, truth be told, its not an indie, its a cult fave really. Story of two irish american dudes from boston who live the typical irish life and work odd jobs simply to buy alcohol and food (lol), who just HAPPEN to be excellent, down right amazing assasins.
They go on a righteous mission to rid the city of boston of its evil men, starting with a russian mob cell then moving on to the big boys, the italians.
Funny and cool. Great shoot outs and awesome dialogue, with the religous undertone of the smithing archangels.
ill post more when its not 5:30 in the morning and iam bored.lol

KIDS - i saw that movie a while back, i think it was also bout the speading of AIDS . it really is a good picture to see
anyone saw the movie called - sometimes in april.
there is a lot of them out there to see. there is one showing on cable called - pieces of april.
-
if you want to some really good cult movies here is a few of my favs
1) Donnie Darko -this movie is ultra-creepy and very intelligent. it have a really freaking looking bunny rabbit talking to him and the soundtrack is kool
2) The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys
3) Igby Goes Down
4) Run Lola Run- its in german, its bout this girl how has 30 mins to pay a ransom for her boyfriend. it has a background sound of nonstop teckno music
5) Napoleon Dynamite.
6) Fist of the north star - is set in a post-cataclysmic nuclear war Japanese animation epic where mankind has been reduced to roving bands of murderous Nomads
7) stigmata
8) RAVENOUS - This is an entertaining vampire/cannibalism flick set in a remote post-Civil War Army Outpost. The fight scenes are realistic and there's enough blood spilled to satisfy any blod rage u hav.
this is jus a few of what i could remember and they all really good to watch
-
princess bride....army of darkness...though those are almost considered mainstream now...
-
Snatch
Lock,Stock and Two Smoking barrels
-
Almost any Kevin Smith movie, Dogma, Clerks, Chasing Amy, Mallrats, Jay and silent bob. And for those who loved Clerks, heres the sequal, dated for early 06 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0424345/
-
CITY OF GOD
-
I didnt like Donny Darko atall. Ppl love that move but hate Matrix? Dah doh make no sense. Darko eh even begin to scratch the surface of what matrix was. Is just one was low budget and one was big budget with @sshole Joel Silver bigging up the movie too much.
I understood Darko yes but i didnt find anything in it atall to awe me.
-
CUBE - See this movie its pretty d@mn cool
There is a sequal called Cube 2: Hypercube that was utter bullsh!t. The prequal came out later called Cube Zero. That one wasnt too bad but had a very impressive twist at the end of the show.
A very interesting and pretty frighfull take on what "the higher powers in society" can do. Watch them in the following order CUBE, CUBE 2, Cube Zero
You can skip Cube 2 if you want. But dont watch Zero first.
Also something to check out. DARK CITY. Im not gonna compare this movie to another because it will just spoil the story at the end, but its pretty interesting. Very good sci fi flick
And if youre in the mood for something really wierd get PI. A movie thats filmed completely in black and white and about how the mathematical formula PI unlocks a researchers answers to lifes greatest secrets.
3 great sci fi movies there to check out ppl
-
PI was really really cool.
loved the fact that was an uber modder too.
Level overclockin an moddin is machine in his room.
Lol dem ants was real bad mind doh...
de drill to head at the end wasnt really neccessary doh...
-
ACtually the term DEBUG was derived from thos bugs. Back in the day when computers took up a whole room and used to run on contacts and huge vacum tubes, the system stopped working. They pulled a bug out from the contacts....hence debugging was made
anyway....another movie to look out for
THE THIRTEENTH FLOOR
heres all of them.

both are kinda teifheads.. without spoilin too much, eternal sunshine is about a man (jim carrey.. but is not a comedy) tryin to erase memories of his ex and slevin (josh hartnett, morgan freeman, ben kingsley and a very cute lookin lucy liu) is kinda like snatch, but in the states ( now yuh thinkin.. why watch a movie 'like snatch' when yuh could just watch 'snatch'. lol. nah. but the dialog is pretty good.. )

Boss movie
A real cross in science fiction here. This is a Korean movie. Although it is full on science fiction, scifi is not the main idea behind this movie, which is why i love these kinda sci fi movies so much, sci fi is secondary. Primarily a love story between a MP Officer and a cyborg.....cant remember from what anime i saw that already...whatever. Try mixing Ghost in the Shell with Blade Runner and you get this movie. Nice storyline, very very nice Animation and CG....check it out if you can find it.

We all know the US just messes up the transition of allot of horror movies when they come to out shores.....Ring, Grude.....Pulse (o god)...and now Rec.
Rec was released in the US as Quarantine..which was garbage. The original is a Spanish horror.....this sh!t...will make you jumbie!!!!

BOY was i glad i did. Any fan of Event Horizon should take a look at this movie. I wont spoil anything, but I believe you will love this one ;)
-
500 days of summer, amelie, a clockwork orange, rocky horror picture show, the kite runner (idk if it can qualify as indie or cult but its not really tht mainstream), pan's labyrinth, requiem for a dream, trainspotting, american beauty, se7en...and well as mentioned in a earlier post by sum1, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind and being john malkovich is good too
-
Killer Bean Forever - Official Trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1WGcyJhhE4#)
Didn't think an action movie starring beans could be great...I was wrong.
-
Ken Park- by the same director of KIDS (Larry Clark). It focuses on a group of teenage friends, which each of them lives their own disturbingly unfavorable lives (some worse than others).
Some of the stuff that happens to these teenagers or that they do just makes you wonder wtf is wrong with them and their family (especially since this shit could be happening in actual households)
proper plot summary: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0209077/plotsummary (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0209077/plotsummary)

no post in like 4 years wow, check out christopher nolan's first film " following"
-
Indie thread and first movie comes to mind is Kirrish 3, India have come a long way with this one. :awesome:
With all the crazy things seen in most hero indian movies, to me the plot actually makes sense, once you watch with an open mind.
