Title: Mobile Internet finally in Trinidad
Post by: The_Falener on February 09, 2006, 02:32:17 PM
As I am sure, a lot of you out there has heard about mobile phones going on the internet, if not then here is the instructions on how to get it (your phone must have GPRS capabilities). Send a text with "Wap (phone model)" to the number 6827.

Example:

Wap nokia 6620

Then shortly after you will recieve the settings from TSTT and you save it. If asked for a password, it is 1234.

My problem is that the access points they gave me for the nokia 6620 is not the exact settings i need to go on normal sites. Other phones like the nokia 6230 have gone on sites like google and stuff with no probs. So I am asking anyone out there on how to do it for the nokia 6620 to plz reply. Thanks in advance if anyone does later!

What yuh go do is TST... I mean, BMobile.

If you look on the web site you will see options to send stuff to your fone and ting, but like some models missing. The Samsung C100 (yes I know is a crap fone but the man in the store tell me i could get games for the fone and add them in when i feel like, cept the fone didnt come with a cable only IR and the IR only works between fone and computer not fone to fone) has the wap browser and everythin, they send the text saying "we going to send you the settings juss now" but dat was MONTHS ago now and it still ent reach.

And I send one just this morning to show a padner, same dumb message I get back. No settings.

PHONE Model : Panasonic GD87/88

getting internet on phone now but can only go on bmoile site and google ..if i search in google and then click any 1 of the results it says 'Request not regonised'  (wat is says wen doesnt identifies a site).  by doin some reading bout wap i know that proxy is important here and since my phone has no place to enter the proxy 8080- which allows a phone to access regualr sites and not jus bmobile etc ..i know that the proxy is the cause of this cuz on a nokia 6230 the proxy was in its proper settings and was able to go on any site

anyone know ah way that u can put proxy in even if de phone dont have a section to enter it such as entering wit the address itself

Just call Tstt hoping to get the settings, the man say it's gonna be officially launched just now (so maybe charges may come in effect then, I dunno) but he say he gonna send me the settings (but I doh think they really know what they doing so I doh have much hope) and if not to carry the fone in to one of the centres and they will manually enter the settings.

I was really hoping he'd just call them out to me and I coulda write them down and manually input the settings, but dat didnt happen.

Anyone feel like checking the settings and letting a brother know?

I'll tell you flat out, a good lot of people not getting that reply. I've spoken to quite a few people who trying to get the net on their fone and they sending the text, getting the thing saying "we'll send it just now" and "it" never reaching.

I strongly suspect that it IS reaching, but the phones do not know how to interpret the incoming message and as a result just ignore it. These ARE authorised TSTT dealership fones and fones that ARE in the listing of compatible fones. What would be much better is if someone (read Bmobile/TSTT) put up all the settings for all of us who not getting the flipping text so we could just input it manually and be done with.

Does anyone have WAP settings for the Sony Ericsson P910i?

I sent the WAP text and the reply is that the model is not recognized.

Has anyone with a P900/P910 got their WAP settings?

I was getting internet (google, msn, etc) on my phone but now all it says is that the "server not responding". I guess TSTT does not want us to have anything good for long.

Well when I was getting net there didn't seem to be any limit to the size of file I could download and it was as fast as my bluetooth connection (I have a motorola e398). I downloaded a ringtone that was about 200k. Plus, it didn't cost me anything.

Is anyone getting on to the net on their phone in the past couple of days?

Oh yeah I god connected to the net on my pc but I couldn't get eny pages to load....something about the proxy.

Title: Re: Mobile Internet finally in Trinidad
Post by: §êñ†i_åL on March 03, 2006, 02:16:10 PM
tstt closed the proxy for a obvious reason..they now began to officailly establish their 'mobile internet' and for now they will purposely only allow access to the bmobile site..if they are as greedy as i know them to be ,they wll offer the complete internet access for a price..but i am sure that digicel wont reduce to such pathetic service and they will offer the net like how tstt had it before they closed up the outside access to other sites.
Title: Re: Mobile Internet finally in Trinidad
Post by: disciple on March 03, 2006, 04:00:59 PM

they closed off the proxy, for their own reasons..   had a private beta, then a public beta of the service..   beta period probably over

with regards to digicel not 'reducing to such pathetic service'

Ok all the phones to use this mobile internet properly needs a program called Opera Mobile, however I only know how to get it for my nokia 6620 which i download on the net and installed on the phone direct. Each website has a coding which is really a number, sometimes u see it on IE in the bottom when loading a page. What this program does is convert the normal websites to these numbers and thus u can view them for free, kinda a smart way around digicel and bmobile from knowing hat yuh usin they internet hense why there is no charge for all the time, only a connection fee i believe.

of course for 150 a month you can get m-zone unlimited and have unlimited acess and download anything you want from the actual internet plus use your phone as an external modem for your laptop or desktop at speeds around 1.5 X dial up, sweet deal if you ask me

Not true.  I use this every day and the bandwidth (on average) is a quite respectable 80-100 k in the morning, and then as the day progresses and network traffic increases, the bandwidth may drop to about 65 k.
