InPhase, which has promised to bring the first holographic disk drive to market later this year, has reached another milestone in the development of its storage media. The company more than doubled the storage density on its holographic disks within one year to 515 Gbit/in2 which should lead the way to DVD-sized media with well above 500 GB capacity.

With high definition audio and video around the corner, the capacity of Blu-ray and HD-DVD media isn't quite as stunning as the specifications may suggest. 50 GB Blu-ray disks - which can store about two HD movies - is simply just good enough, especially if we consider the fact that these disks aren't available yet. Organizations that need to store enormous amounts of data are likely to look elsewhere: While tape drives are likely remain the dominant solution for backing up data, holographic drives could soon become an option when data not only needs to be stored, but also instantly accessed.

The company did not detail the total capacity of the Tapestry media when recorded in 515 Gbit/in2 density. However, InPhase mentioned that such a disk, which measures 5.25" in diameter, could hold 106 DVD movies. Assuming that InPhase hinted to a DVD movie size of 4.7 GB, the capacity of the demonstrated disk would be about 500 GB. We are currently waiting for InPhase to reply to our inquiry on the total capacity of the disk and we will update this article as soon as the company provides more specific information.

InPhase previously said that it will be releasing its first holographic disk drive as well as 300 GB holographic media later this year. The data transfer performance is expected to be about 20 MB/s, while the demo announced today topped 23 MB/s InPhase said. According to the company, the first generation of Tapestry media will be followed by a disk family ranging from 800GB to 1.6 TB capacity.

There has been no recent information on the price of the holographic disk drive generation. In April of 2005, the company told us that the drives will be priced initially around $10,000. Media will cost around $100, we were told.

Jed Quake 4 real pis me off from time to time, is more like a babysitting first person shooter jed, go with this one, follow this one, protect this one Arrrrrrg wtf, and doh talk bout the AI jah! Jed some of dem jus rushing into live fire and takin shoots gettin kill and makin me hadda play over a segment to the game. One man who real pis me of was the domolition guy (forgot his name), when you were ordered to protect him as he set the charges to destroy the hangers, JAH dis fool dont know about runnin away from grenada or ducking for cover!

But i have to admit the visuals of the game are good...although it wasn't what i wanted, it looked kinda pasty, like everything was made of plastic. Any way if they was goin for the pasty plastic look, then they achieved it, and even i playin it with a bit of lag (raping my graphics card) it enjoyable.

Those strogs reeeeal nasty jed! If you have a weak stomach then stay away!

What inpresed me the most was after switching off the cooling pumps for the nexus and you had to fight the two spider walker thingies, i was like "sigh, thak god dat over...*gets up streches*"   then to hear yuh hadda fight the macron "WTF *scrambles for mouse and keyboard* nah these ppl not for real!". The whole getting caught thing (sure i knew it was gonna happen, just didnt know it was gonna be then ) looking on as the guy infront of you on the conveyer belt screams for his life while a series of painfull procedures are performed on him...*sigh* dat part of the game really had me into it...as if it was really me in there Mathew Kane.

So overall the game bad!

Still aint finish yet!  ^_^

PC Gaming / Highlights of COD2

Highlights of COD2

Jed so I just finished cod2 ( hardened ) last night after playing for 12hrs on Sunday, finished the last mission last night in, about 30min,m for a total of 12hrs 30min….which isn’t bad. The game was very good, non stop action throughout the entire game. Storming the beach and climbing the cliff of  Pointe du  Hoc was indeed the best part or the game for me. Having reached that stage of the game your character is among  those who make it to shore relatively safe, since you have to be dragged to shore by one of ur fellow comrade after your vessel is hit by what I believe is a mortar bomb, and turns over( very dramatic ).  There are cries of pain and anguish on the beach as soldiers are mowed down by bullets, crawling on fire from wrecked boats etc.  You then make your way to a rope on the side of the cliff and start your climb. On your way up the cliff one of your comrades (I call him Frank lol ) is hit by heavy machine gun fire and plummets to the ground taking along with him a comrade who was just above you (nooooo they killed frank!! Bastards!!). I think that stage of the game is the most intense!!! Trying to hold your ground as your squad is under constant bombardment from the enemy, you are forced to fall back…twice, while you impatiently wait for relieve from “the fly boys” (last part of that mission). You are then commanded to deploy green smoke, to let the “fly boys”  know that’s the safe zone, so that u don’t get gunned down as the swoop down from above.

COD 2, Is Epic.
