Handheld Gaming / Gear VR
« on: July 19, 2016, 08:56:22 PM »
Looked around and could not find a section for moile vr gaming, is there one?

Has anyone found a really engaging title yet? One that can stand on its own as a true must play game as opposed to an entertaining diversion. I was excited about eve gunjack and while its nice it just feels like suped up space invaders/galaga/galaxian clone in vr. The closest i have come across to a truly gripping experience is Dreadhalls. basic graphics but knocks it out of the park when it comes to atmosphere and mood. Why couldn't they make it a full on rpg though instead of a jump scare demo.
smash hit and lands end are both a lot of fun but they are like light mobile games without much depth.  i going to try Herobound next maybe that will be the one. It seems very interesting on the surface. A third person hack and slash medieval rpg-ish game. I wish the sideload community would port some classic games. Quake VR is a perfect example. It is pretty damn good.

Trading Grounds / Data retrival
« on: July 25, 2014, 02:14:33 PM »
I have a 1TB WD USB external drive that fell, when I plug it in the light flashes and I can feel it spinning but it does not appear on the list of drives. However in the system tray under safely remove and eject data the drive appears and I can click remove and I get the relevant prompt that it's now safe to remove.

What I need is someone to either get the drive to work or to get the data off the drive. If the drive itself can't be saved I would of course purchase a new drive from you to place the retrieved data on.

« on: January 09, 2013, 03:18:43 PM »
I want to get a case with a built in light for my kindle touch. it does NOT have to be an official amazon case. a used case is fine. The only stipulation is that the light  should  be powered by the kindle and not require additional replaceable batteries.

Trading Grounds / Job offer
« on: December 30, 2011, 04:52:02 PM »
Ok I am not sure if this is the right place to post this but  there does not appear to be a specific section.
I work with an online gaming retailer and we need a few people t try out some of our casual games. Games like Luxor and Zuma and Plants vs Zombies. Hidden object games also. The position does not pay per se, its more akin to an internship. you will get a small stipend $100 TT per day but you will have to put in a fair amount of work playing games and reviewing games. Since it is all done online it really does not matter what time you do it or if you do an hour here an hour there once you get the overall assignment completed in a 24 hour period.

If you have a job you probably should not apply since this does not pay at all the $100 TT is bascially to ensure you have redbull and coffee in constant supply.
If this position is expected to be your job again you should not apply since its a part time position that is more akin to practice than work and again there is no salary only a small stipend of $100 TT
Payment will be made twice monthly on the 15th and last day of the month via PayPal so you need to have that.
Send me a pm for more info if you are interested.

Comics / What If?

Do you remember those what if or crossover titles? I have the Spider-man vs Superman title when Lex Luthor irradiated Parker with Red Sun energy and spidey and supe fought.
So i was thinking of the ultimate  Marvel vs Marvel battle and soon relised there is only one choice.
The Avengers vs The -Men.  Who would win this epic battle? Now I know what you are thinking. Hulk + Thor = No Contest. There is the Professor though and we all know what he can do. Then there is the Juggernaut ( yes i am including rouge chars and the brotherhood  in the " X-Men") There is Magneto to counteract Iron Man,  There is Rogue.

i got the 1Mb/s internet package 3 days ago but i have been getting speeds of 30KB/s consistantly over the three day period, this is 25% of what i should be getting . Is this normal procedure? i expect that i would not be getting the full 128KB/s but 30 seems like a ripoff. And it has been consistant over three days under varying times and conditions, its been a constant 27 t0 32 KB/s download  . The upload speed is also slow but an acceptable  15KB/s i believe max for the 1Mb package would be 30 ish

i need  a machine just to get typing and general office type work done and check email now and then while doing work.

i am looking for a low cost solution.  battery life is not a concern of mine neither is age of machine. once it can run when plugged in to a wall it dosent even need to have a functioning battery. it must be able to run windows xp reasonably efficiently though so at lest 256 mb of ram. processor speed is unimportant once it can run microsoft office 2003 with no major lagging

Handheld Gaming / GBA Gems
« on: September 26, 2009, 01:27:16 PM »
If you are like me and spent a ton on GBA carts the first half of this decade lets look back to some of the Games that stood out. Every week I will look at a new games and give my views and rating. Feel free to add games of your own but try and follow the following giudelines.

1) Rate Graphics, Sound, Gameplay and Replay factor. and give an overall score ( does not have to be an average of the  individual scores) And

2) Say why you like the game.

The Urbz - Sims in the city.

I am not big on the whole Sims thing, that maybe why I like The GBA version of the Urbz so much.

The Game itself resembles a generic Sims game in that you have various "motives" that you need to constantly monitor but thats about it. The Urbz imo is really a fun rpg lite game. You have to upgrade you chars various skills, you have various missions and tasks to complete you have a somewhat engaging if quirky storyline and you have a lot of fun ( seriously mogoo monkey card game is addictive) mini games to kill some time if you dont have time to really get into a serious gameplay session.

The game is long also. 30 hours of gameplay packed in there  longer if you decide to do various challanges and minigames. There is also great replay factor becuase there are four groups each with a different set of challenges and slightly different story. Then there are the minigames. The minigames once you unlock level five can be a stand alone affair.

All in all great portable title for anyone who enjoys rpg-ish games without the drama or who secretly wished there was some direction in sim games. A deffinite BUY

Graphics 8.5. Very good graphics seen from a slightly overhead isometric-ish faux 3D perspective.

Sound. 10. Sound in gba games dont get much better than this, fun soundtrack and lots of tunes to play on your stereo ingame epecially if you choose the Streetie option.

Gameplay 10. Its a game you can just pick up and play. Controls feel natural and the mechanics are simple enough for anyone to understand yet there is enough variation to please most gamers. The mini games add dimension you can simply play a few minigames if you have a couple minutes to kill, I suggest the monkey card game or the tetris on acid surgery game.

Replay value 9. With four Char groups each with different challenges and a different ultimate reward and special group gift there is a lot of reasons to play the game through at least four times. Then there are the minigames, three of which ( the motocross, the card game and the tetris like surgery game ) are standalone quick games in there own right, that you can play without even starting the actual game.

Overall rating 9. This game imo is a BUY or aquire title, it has something for everyone, quests, missions, fun, tons of items and rewards, good stroyline and great graphics and sound.
