Ole Talk / WTK: Has anyone else here Tried D&D
« on: April 27, 2017, 05:47:04 PM »
Dungeons and Dragons is having a resurgence with mentions in pop culture like in the TV show Big Bang theory. A main stereotype of american nerds, D&D was also shunned as satanic worship at one time.

People like Vin Diesel and Stephen Colbert grew up playing it and are quite passionate about their make believe stories.

As a huge Fan of Fantasy Novels, and eventually RPG Video games it was inevitable for me to research D&D.  I was wondering if any Trinbagonians ever played or would like to I'm thinking of Learning to DM (Dungeon Master).
There are online Free services ways to play virtual Table top games now available ( Btw April 29th is TableTop day) if anyone is interested.

Ole Talk / Ramadhan Mubarak to all the Muslims!
« on: July 20, 2012, 12:43:45 PM »
I'm very certain there are Muslims in our Gaming Community.....
And since I usually never see Ramadhan Greetings on forums I thought I'd wish my fellow Muslims a blessed Ramadhan.

To those who do not practice or those who don't know ....pls show respect as this is a difficult time for most Muslims.

No Food nor Drink during the daylight hours....

Fighting and Swearing are also forbidden

And Patience is upheld though very difficult at times.

Most Muslims will start Fasting Tomorrow and Eid will be either the 18th-19th of August 2012.

« on: May 11, 2012, 11:11:45 AM »
Ok I've been LAN Partying for the Better part of 15 years.....Sure it's easier online...but someone great once said... I love it when a LAN comes together :)  (PLAN LAN same thing )

So My Venerable "Gammabomb" PC is Dying....Yup DDR2 RAM chips are have no regeneration/healing factor....after 5 long years (In PC years) it's time to start researching.....

Some wondrous new tech  have already  come out.....USB 3.0....SSD's....Thunderbolt....That's all well and good...

But I'd like to know from any fellow Builder of PC's what you all Prefer for Portable PC Gaming...

Please keep in mind that my Budget would be $1500us ......and i'll need an updated HD Monitor...already have everything else (I/O devices....external storage etc.)

Also I am really not in the mood for lugging around heavy @$$ UPS and Full towers.....Slip Disc > Graphics ;)

And Very important....I want this PC ..SFF or LAPTOP...to be good for 3-4 years....therefore take in to consideration the games i'll be playing....Guild wars 2....Tribes ascend etc......on highest possible graphics...

Also I'm weary of Liquid Cooling.....so if anybody have horror stories or good results let me know...

Ole Talk / Competetive FPS Nostalgia!
« on: February 10, 2012, 12:39:23 PM »
I really enjoy Listening to GATT Talks on Mumble.....

Lets Just say it's a wide range of Topics....From Lawsuits to Naruto!  :happy0203:

One Particular Discussion was the Popularity in Trinidad of Soldier of Fortune 2 and Counterstrike (amongst other games)

I let it be Known I'm never Played SOF2....I'm more of a Quake 3 arena/Unreal Tournament player.

So i'm asking a Question....Whats allyuh Competitive FPS of yesteryear?

What were your favourite memories in said games?

Mine was playing a Fatal1ty in an early Online game ( public and random) and trying not to die to him....Could have been someone else....but that name inspired Fear!!

Another was My first Rail gun kill on Xaero stage..against a guy going for the BFG....Sweet Sweet Gibs!!  :yay:

Ole Talk / We have the official World Record in Hot Pepper!
« on: February 09, 2012, 12:38:12 PM »
According to Wikipedia.....

Trinidad Scorpion Butch T pepper is a chili pepper that has been measured as the world's hottest. The pepper is a particular strain of the Trinidad Scorpion, which originated in Trinidad and Tobago. It is named after Butch Taylor, the owner of a hot sauce company who is responsible for propagating the pepper's seeds.[1] The "scorpion" peppers are referred to as such because the pointed end of the pepper is said to resemble a scorpion's stinger.
[edit]World record

The Trinidad Scorpion Butch T pepper is the first hottest pepper in the world, according to Guinness World Records.[2] placing the the Naga Viper pepperas second hottest pepper in the world. A laboratory test conducted in March, 2011 measured a specimen of Trinidad Scorpion Butch T at 1,463,700 Scoville heat units .[3] Hotness of a species of chili pepper can vary by up to a factor of 10 depending on the conditions under which the specimen grew.[4] High-performance liquid chromatography has limited precision and a margin of error of about 5% of the true value; Scoville units reported with more than two significant figures should be regarded as for entertainment purposes only and not a scientific assessment of the spiciness of the pepper.[5]
[edit]Usage

The Trinidad Scorpion Butch T pepper is so strong that those who handle it must wear protective gloves. Exposure to the eyes or skin near the eyes when handling this pepper could cause temporary blindness. While preparing the Butch T, one should wear a chemical mask or a body suit to defend against fumes given off in the cooking process.[6]

PC Gaming / WTK a Good LAN Party Racing game
« on: December 25, 2011, 01:16:37 PM »
I'm a LAN Party organiser (small scale 24 people MAX) and we usually play DOTA1, COD4, Halo1, Quake 3 arena etc.

All the Guys are avid racing game fans, but I've yet to find a proper racing game. here are my requirements.

1. Must be able to support 18-30 players.

2. Must have Rally stages (Circuit racing gets old very fast)

3. A Mario kart, Twisted Metal style combat would be a bonus.

4. Simple IP based LAN .....no need for Hamachi/VPN etc.

5. Car variety with "same car for all option"

6. Replays

Thanks all.....and Vroom!!

Ole Talk / WTk: Changing career from IT
« on: November 22, 2011, 01:54:24 PM »
There are many reasons I want to leave off IT (12 years formal work...about 3 years volunteered...that's right I loved IT!)

Oh to find a Job that offers me more job satisfaction and a comfortable salary!

As a married man now life has gotten way more complicated, with serious responsibilities.

So the questions I'm really asking

Anybody else made the leap from an IT career to something else?

Are you regretting the change?

Is it even something to consider?

Are there Opportunities within IT i should consider before leaving it completely?

Regards,
Sesimie
