Console Gaming Archive / Blazblue - The best fighter you're probably NOT playing (or won't play)« on: July 05, 2009, 01:09:09 PM »
When Blazblue was announced last year I was pretty skeptical, why the hell was Arc putting out a game that was not Guilty Gear X3. Their previous offerings had mixed reviews, Hokuto No Ken was probably the most broken game of all time and Sengoku Basara X was a failure for the most part. As more info became available it became clear that this was not a generic GGXX clone but it was something more, as vids came online my interest in the game grew, to the point where Street Fighter 4 became a game to hold me over til this game came out.
So now the game is out. The verdict ? Its bleeping amazing (and looks even more amazing in HD) This game isn't that noob friendly and if you're like most and don't like to work for a win this game is not for you. I had a hard time learning what the hell I was watching on the screen while attacks were flying here and there. Combos aren't as easy like in Guilty Gear where you could dial a combo with some characters, no this game requires more thinking and fishing for opponent mistakes. Overall you need to play smarter to win, knowing the character matchups plays an integral part in the competitive aspect of the game, the last boss is toned down to playable form , is the top character in the game with a major advantage vs some characters. Training mode is very detailed, with options for seemingly everything. The netcode is clearly the BEST NETCODE EVER. SF4 doesn't come close, and to top HD Remix netcode is pretty impressive. Just last night I was playing some guy online, only to find out afterwards that he was from japan, I got a pretty sweet cutarse and enjoyed every minute of it. This brings me to the next best thing, replay saving, this is something all fighters should have imo, the ability to save the replays of matches in vs and online, saved a couple replays online and gonna capture them later on. My single gripe with the game is the easy specials option which noobs are abusing online. Why the hell put in one button attacks anyway. The upside is that there are several filters available when searching for matches. The gamerankings average for this game is 90% and many reviewers have called this game a legitimate threat to SF4's crown. I don't think SF4 is gonna lose steam as it is more noob friendly with its simplified inputs and all that, but hey what do I know. Bottom Line - The game is good, get it if it's your cup of tea or if you think you can handle the pressure. 7
Sick Sad World / "Did you not see the bleeping contract?”« on: March 06, 2009, 01:16:47 PM »Quote A MAN lured his teenage stepdaughter into having sex with him by signing a “contract” which agreed she could keep child bonus payments when she got pregnant. The years of abuse was condoned by the man’s wife because she was afraid to have another baby in case it had a congenital disease. http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,23739,25147333-3102,00.html I swear this is the most creative stuff I've read all day... 8

PC Gaming / GGPO - Online Street Fighter/KOF/MVC etc« on: May 09, 2008, 09:19:30 PM »Quote GGPO.net is a new approach to online fighting games. Traditional networking algorithms used to compensate for network latency result in either slower than normal gameplay or an excessive amount of delay (or lag) tacked onto the beginning of each move. GGPO.net uses a novel way to hide latency which lets the game run at full speed without adding any delay to any of your moves. So your timing doesn’t change and combos come out like butter. It’s almost like playing head-to-head in your living room! The Official stable alpha build currently supports Street Fighter Alpha 2 Street Fighter Alpha 3 King Of Fighters 98 Dungeons & Dragons Shadow Over Mystara Vampire Savior Marvel vs Capcom The current test build currently supports the same games as the official but with the following games for testing purposes Street Fighter 3 3rd Strike Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo King Of Fighters 98 Xmen vs Street Fighter Garou Mark of the Wolves Samurai Shodown 2 1.To play you'll have to get on http://ggpo.net and register an account. 2.Then download the latest stable build (I can't post the test build but you can PM or get on #ggpotest on EFNET to get the link) 3. Add the roms to the rom directory and run ggpo. Please be sure to open UDP ports 6000-6010 on your router. if anyone is up for a game in whatever i'm always looking for a challenge. http://ggpo.net/ggpo-beta-rc3.msi <-- latest beta build 12/05/08 12
