Trading Grounds / FS Galaxy SIV - Broken screen - 1800
« on: July 12, 2013, 09:49:39 AM »
I have for sale a black Galaxy S4 that was used about 5 weeks now. The screen has a crack and the LCD is damaged. At first it used to show distorted but the lcd progressively got worse and it doesn't show at all. Everything else is working  and I was able to test while the display was still functioning.

To fix you can either get

http://www.etradesupply.com/oem-samsung-galaxy-s4-gt-i9500-lcd-screen-and-digitizer-assembly-black-with-samsung-logo-only.html

for 230 US but it involves a bit more work to remove the previous screen or you can get the whole front housing with screen below for 263 US

http://www.etradesupply.com/oem-samsung-galaxy-s4-gt-i9500-lcd-screen-and-digitizer-assembly-with-front-housing-black-with-samsung-logo.html

I really have no intention of spending any more money behind this and since I got a white S4 I'll just stick with it and sell this.

btw It broke when it fell from lap to the floor and while the gorilla glass just got a small crack i beleive the internal jolt is what damaged the lcd. I have since placed a case on my other S4.

PM for any additional info needed.

Trading Grounds / FS HTC ONE - 2100
« on: May 11, 2013, 01:25:08 PM »
EDIT:
SOLD

I have for sale a barely used HTC one

The HTC one is the new 1080p screen. The problem is I bought it from eBay locked to at&t. I thought it would be easy to get it unlocked. Well the phone is so new that there is no unlock code for it as yet. Everything else works but I have no desire to use a phone that I can't call with. You can either use it as a media player or maybe in time there will be an unlock code for it but I can't guarantee there will be. Comes in original box with all accessories.

A family member really wants the Nexus so I've removed it.

I'll update with pics when I'm home. I am looking to get the S4 now and I just want these two sold as fast as possible. The price for the two is 2700 slightly negotiable. I'd prefer to sell the two together but if I can't then I'll sell separate. Comes with original box but a third party charger and no accessories.

Loving the Crucial m4 SSD. I was watching it for a long time but after seeing Capt Awesome get one I decided to buy. It was totally worth it. It seems to be growing in popularity because it is now 20US more on Amazon than when i bought it.

Running my i7 2600k overclocked at 4.3GHz. Looking at getting better cooling to overclock higher. Bought the 5970 from firstchoicett, got a serious bump from my GTX 295.

I purchased the Windows 7 Home Premium family upgrade pack about a year ago. It has 3 licenses to upgrade a previous version of Windows. All three machines had windows xp home and the installation and activation went through smoothly.

The problem is I recently changed my motherboard and SSD. I installed the Windows 7 and when went to activate it told me my license is only valid for an upgrade (There was no way for it to know I had windows xp before as its a completely new drive). I went through the automated phone process which is very long and at the end it tells me I am over my upgrade limit. I believe it is still seeing my old hardware as using a license.

Is there any way around this? Can I talk to an actual Microsoft person? all I get is the automated activation line.

I should have written this guide a while now but was waiting till I used it for a while to confirm that it works good. Note the method outlined here is not free but it is the best method out of all I've tried.

There are two problems with using Netflix in Trinidad
 1. Ip address checking for region
 2. Netflix payment wants a US issued credit card

1. There is a site http://unblock-us.com. This site was made to allow Canadians use the American Netflix but it works for other countries as well. This is what I use to bypass the ip address checking. They offer a 1 week trial so you can try it out and decide for yourself if it is worth it. It normally cost US5.99 a month. To use it you change your DNS to 208.122.23.22, 208.122.23.23.

This is a lot better than running your system through a vpn because most vpns are slow or very costly and route ALL your traffic through the vpn. This means if you want to game online you have to change back your settings.

This method by just changing your DNS means everything on your network works as normal, when you go to netflix, their DNS reroutes it to their server, initializes the connection and then transfers back to Netflix's servers. This allows it to stream as fast as a native Netflix connection as I've been able to view HD streams without stutter (something I cant even do on youtube 480p sometimes) on a 5Mbit connection.

This works on PS3 and Xbox 360 as well and I dont see why it wont work on Wii too. The only small issue with viewing it on one of these devices is the service works by your ip address. Most of us have a dynamic ip address that changes once a week or once a month (maybe longer). If it does change all you do is go on your PC login and it will map your account to your new ip address.

2. Netflix payment. Netflix wants an American issued credit card. Unblock-us lists a method for bypassing this using ENTROPAY. I didn't use their method but have used Entropay before for use with the PSN.
What I did was sign up for the Netflix trial and used my paypal account as payment type. This worked fine until my 1 month Netflix trial was up and they told me my paypal was not a valid payment option. I then used my local credit card and just used the zipcode of my skybox and miraculously it WORKED!!.

I really love Netflix and considering if it makes sense for me to still pay for a cable bill. This service also works for VUDU, Amazon Instant Video, Playstation Video Store and Hulu on PC. It cannot work for Hulu Plus because Hulu will not accept entropay and will not accept a credit card issued outside the US.

There are a lot more instructions on the website.

The first sequel to DC's new animated line. It seems to continue the story in Public Enemies just like the comic book. If this follows the comic faithfully then it should be awesome.

Hi I have a webserver set up on my local network. I would like to have it on the internet for certain periods. I registered with DynDNS and when I enter the address it correctly goes to my current ip address but it asks to login into the dsl router. I forward port 80 on the router to the server address on my lan and it said it will switch the dsl web server to port 8080. It doesn't do this as I can still login to the router with 192.168.1.1 without having to specify port 8080. Its a paradyne DSL modem. any help greatly appreciated.

Hardware, Tweaking & Networking / PSU for Geforce 8800 320mb
« on: March 19, 2007, 01:01:27 PM »
Hi can some one advise me what is a good power supply to run this card? I've seen reports stating that it needs 26a on the 12v and then some that say its needs 30a on the 12v. I've yet to see a power supply down here selling that can meet either of these requirements. Any info will be appreciated.

Hardware, Tweaking & Networking / SATA RAID Performance
« on: October 22, 2006, 12:48:17 AM »
I'm thinking about getting two sata hard drives to run in RAID 0 for better speed but I saw some sites state the performance difference is minimal. Any one running this can tell me for certain what the performance boost will be like.
