It has been up there in the sky in plain view for billions of years but nobody seems to have thought of its earning potential - until now.

A canny Spanish woman from Galicia - a sun-drenched region on the border with Spain and Portugal - has decided that she owns the star, and has the registration papers to prove it.

Angeles Duran, 49, says that the sun officially belongs to her now, having had the celestial body registered in her name at a local notary office.

Ms Duran told the online edition of daily El Mundo she took the step in September after reading about an American man who had registered himself as the owner of the moon and most planets in our solar system.

There is an international agreement which states that no country may claim ownership of a planet or star, but it says nothing about individuals, she added.

'There was no snag, I backed my claim legally, I am not stupid, I know the law.

'I did it but anyone else could have done it, it simply occurred to me first.'

The document issued by the notary public declares Ms Duran to be the 'owner of the Sun, a star of spectral type G2, located in the centre of the solar system, located at an average distance from Earth of about 149,600,000 kilometers'.
Ms Duran, who lives in the town of Salvaterra do Mino, said she now wants to slap a fee on everyone who uses the sun and give half of the proceeds to the Spanish government - and 20 per cent to the nation's pension fund.

She would dedicate another 10 per cent to research, another 10 per cent to ending world hunger - and would keep the remaining 10 per cent herself.

She said: 'It is time to start doing things the right way, if there is an idea for how to generate income and improve the economy and people's wellbeing, why not do it?'

For those who might be a little too broke to venture out in the sunlight - and risk a large bill at the end of the day - Ms Dueran has not yet figured out a way of enforcing her sun charge.

Well boi... :shakehead: :shakehead:

You may have to compare the quality of each course offering at both schools as well as the Universities that the schools affiliated with if the prices are not a good deciding factor for you.

Thats what I'm trying to figure out. SAMs is London Metropolitan University and CTS is University of Hertfordshire. Which one is better or more internationally renown?

Sam Year 3 is currently:
$3,000 tt   - Books
$750 tt      - Registration
990 GPB     - UK fee
14,000 tt   - Tution (GATE covers)

So approx $14,000 tt whereas CTS is approx $19,000 tt

There is a school in Chaguanas that does the same course but offers better service.
So many questions...

1) Is that CTSCBCS and if so is it London Metropolitan University or better?
2) Does it cost more than Sams?
3) Will it be 2 years if I finish the 1st Year at Sams?
4) Can you link me the site for the school?

And again thanks to every one for their help.

Hey guys, I recently joined this site and therefore, unfortunately recently read this thread.

I am currently doing the Bsc. Business Computing degree in SAMs (North Campus) and from reading this thread I'm starting to regret choosing that course. I noticed that the people who commented on the poor standards of SAM did it a few years back (NCC 2004 syllabus) and I'm doing the 2008 syllabus. I heard from classmates that back then the lecturers weren't as good as they are now - I don't know how much of that is true but I do know that the pass rate for most of the classes have improved. So far I have no problem understanding the work.

I'm still in Year 1 Semester 1 so can you guys please give me some advice on what to do next? After I finish Year 1, I'll get an International Diploma in Computer Studies. Should I continue with this degree, finish it somewhere else or just start another course? I really hope I didn't waste almost $8000 on a load of s**t. :shakehead:

I switched to blink from flow. Even though it was 5mbs to 1mb :( the ping for most games are better. Cable (Flow) has many repeater amplifiers enroute to its destinations, DSL is limited to a certain distance from the CO (central office) and thus may offer higher ping rates than cable (this is bad for gaming).
