All the laws and regulations in the world won't change a thing if people don't heed them...so it starts with us, not any instruction written down somewhere that half the population may not even read before going on the road.

It could never start with us, then the government should just say lets find other jobs for police officers because nobody should do crime. I agree with Crixx the laws are there as guidelines unless enforced.

As for raising the driving age....could solve nothing when a man could go down licensing office and spend a 500 and get his license without even getting behind the wheel for a single practice session.

Hardware, Tweaking & Networking / Re: Need some help with a dell 4700
« on: January 02, 2009, 11:38:02 AM »
"My guess is that pretty soon, that system is going to stop booting altogether." well so said so done, this morning at 10:45am as a last ditch effort, I tried to replace the power supply (one last time). now the pc won't boot at all. Guess the motherboard is really dead. "RIP" Dell 4700. the good news is I can recycle the parts an build another system. don't know if the processor is any good, since most of my systems are AMD base.

Man quoting Time of Death yes....

When you say you tried to swap the power supplies.....you mean put in a regular atx power supply into your dell? O.o If so then you probably just killed the board. Theres a reason DELLs come with weak power supplies not just because uncle Mike wants to be cheap.

I would agree it could be a power regulation issue, but the Dimension 5150s had this as a general flaw with the system. If you don't NEED to use the system i say why bother with the headache of resurrection but if the machine is necessary or you'd actually like to make use of it i vote don't condemn the board just yet.

If you put back in the original PS and it even comes on try booting with no expansion cards attached. Boot with board connected to PS only (obviously u plug in the monitor so u can see =/) but take off even the mouse keyboard, anything that would draw power. But i'm sure u prob told the person its dead anyhoo and new systems are fairly cheap so...i'll end my babbling now.

Website Updates, Suggestions & Bug Reports / Re: Certification Suggestion

wrt to graphics stuff (and this is merely my opinion) a good portfolio is 100x better than a cert.

Agreed but I was thinking more about helping people get into the fields through certification, not just being certified for having certification sake but actually learning. Nobody has time to sit down with someone and show them the way in the respective career they choose....go read a book learn about it and maybe someone would give u a chance to apply what you know.

Yeah as Crixx stated, not just IT stuff i'm simply saying that from my perspective I am an IT person so that would be my interest. Maybe Telecom certs as well, even marketing, graphics, different things. I don't think it would be wise to have another forum, maybe just a sub forum on this forum, that would also generate traffic on the site by those who not interested in games but....still want info about certs

Website Updates, Suggestions & Bug Reports / Certification Suggestion

I suggest GATT incorporate a room dedicated towards helping our upcoming professionals. I recently completed some certifications and I found just happen to come across alot of helpful information that could be shared with the gaming community. We can have different sections as I am an IT person I would suggest an IT section but there are alot of other certifications and courses that people come across. After all we gamers don't just play games right? We actually have minds and jobs and want to move forward in life. Lets help each other to move forward.

Okay recently saw it.....loved it.....a must see.

Jim Carey....is an a$$

Well i heard that was one of the difficulties at DEST bringing in enough income to support the place. Cafes breathe a culture and people form groups and cliques. If yuh padna not going cafe you not going cafe and so on. All it takes is one falling out with someone in the group and thats that.

Therefore cafe owners tend to befriend people so that they stay which causes people getting free time bla bla bla.....its difficult to maintain customers....people are unpredictable.

I've been off of the LAN gaming scene for a while but as was said earlier there aren't any GLs in the north left other than POS... we need to revive the GL scene. I know people have issues with TSTT also but i'm sure someone somewhere knows someone who works in one of our excellent ISPs we have floating around the country.

17
Yeah it takes alot more than just saying it and it happening. Especially with the advent of the TSTT/ Flow business. Everyone and their mom has internet at home, its difficult to convince anyone really to come out of their homes to pay for LAN based gaming they can do at home. In cafes now i'm sure there are alot of people still playing these little MMORPGs that in my opinion killed some of our best gamers.....

*cough* Shizz  *cough* Chronos *cough Calibur to name a few

We need to find a way to integrate LAN gaming with the persons at home. Baego had an excellent idea a while back while i was at Greendot about creating a nation wide vpn and integrating it with the cafes. That would spark the competitive gaming and people with not so great pcs would need to go to the cafes to play the games.

look flint oui

I now go to say that yes. End of an era indeed, like new era said i was first introduced to GATT at HQ and its always been a home to me.....

we eh want to tighten no belts =(  .....
