TriniTechSquad Recommends / CPU Compatibility
« on: April 12, 2013, 07:41:03 PM »
Hi Guys

I have a client that wanted a home PC built. In getting the parts (I paid for everything so far, client has not been billed yet) one of the items I obtained was the AMD FX 8350. Was at a fairly decent price, so I said why not. Now when it came to main boards, I had very little to go on. One of the candidates was an MSI 760GM-P23. I read through the manual and it claimed that is supported the processor. However, after assembling the system, it hangs a lot after the initial installation of Windows 7 and I am forced to re-install or abandon altogether.

I have come across several forums where they claim it works and others claimed it will not work, my question to you guys, should I source a lower grade processor and sell the 8350, or is there a BIOS update that would have this processor work with this board? Now be honest! If there is genuinely no way this CPU will work, I will post it for sale here, however, if it does work, then I will continue with this set up

Trading Grounds / F.S. : AMD Athlon X2 Processor & 4GB DDR2 RAM *SOLD*
« on: February 16, 2013, 09:56:24 AM »
Hi all

I have a socket 2 AM2 Althon X2 5600+ and 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 up for grabs.

The condition the of the items are fairly new. Why do I say fairly? They were bought to upgrade my grandfather's PC initially, however, without anyone telling me, he got himself an iMac. Having been stuck with parts, I was looking to use them for a PC upgrade for my father. However, he got an upgrade of his computer system.

The items have been opened to check everything was sound and that's it. Haven't used them in any PCs and they have been just been sitting in my room. I know I will never get back what I spent on these items, so I will just to recoup whatever I can get with these items. I would prefer to sell off the two items as a bundle, however depending on how things go I will separate the items.

Also will to come in time are pics of the items for sale and the condition they are in. I beginning asking price is $700. for both items. As always with me, there is room for negotiating. Please free to reply in this topic or PM

Price dropped to: $500. for both items

News / "Red Bull" drink billionaire Chaleo dies in Thailand
« on: March 18, 2012, 08:08:30 AM »
http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/03/18/us-thailand-redbull-idUSBRE82H02Q20120318?feedType=RSS&feedName=businessNews&rpc=935

(Reuters) - Chaleo Yoovidhya, who rose from poverty to become one of the world's richest men thanks to astute marketing of the "Red Bull" energy drink, has died in his native Thailand.

Local media said he had died of natural causes in hospital in Bangkok on Saturday. His age was variously put at 89 or 90, although some sources gave his date of birth as August 17, 1923, making him 88.

Chaleo was ranked 205th on the Forbes list of the world's wealthiest people, with a fortune it put at $5 billion.

Born into a Chinese immigrant family, he never flaunted the wealth he accumulated and avoided publicity. According to Thailand's Nation newspaper, he had not given a media interview or made any public appearances for 30 years.

The Nation said it had interviewed his son, Saravudh, as part of a multimedia series to run next month.

Saravudh recalled how his father developed the Red Bull brand at home and abroad after his small pharmaceutical company started producing energy drinks in the 1970s.

"While the market leader of the energy-drink market mainly targeted the capital, Red Bull pushed into the provincial market first, gaining a foothold by distributing free samples to truck drivers," he said.

Only then did he market it in the capital, Bangkok, with brand-building that was quite novel for Thailand at the time, before going international with Austrian partner Dietrich Mateschitz in the mid-1980s.

Mateschitz, who had discovered the powers of Red Bull as a cure for jet lag, is now number 193 on the Forbes list.

Chaleo never had the benefit of higher education but his son said he studied English and law by himself. His acumen and experience led governments to turn to him for help and he had sat on health committees and advised the prime minister.

The Red Bull brand has been promoted internationally through a Formula One racing team and in the United States by soccer team the New York Red Bulls.

Comics / Dwayne McDuffie dies
« on: February 25, 2011, 02:12:40 PM »
http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=30969

comic writer, animation producer and respected industry veteran Dwayne McDuffie passed away. The cause of death and specific details are unknown at this time.

A native of Detroit, McDuffie officially joined the comics industry as part of Marvel Comics editorial in the late '80s. While working on special projects for the publisher, he quickly made his name as a writer creating series such as "Damage Control" and helping to redefine the Deathlok character to fan and critical acclaim. He soon left the staff to become a full time freelance writer, becoming a voice in the industry for diversity, particularly fighting against stereotypical portrayals of people of color on the comic book page.

In 1993, McDuffie co-founded Milestone Media along with creators Denys Cowan, Michael Davis and Derek T. Dingle. The company's mission statement involved expanding the role of minorities in comics both on the page and off, and they launched (through DC Comics) a line of superheroes that included "Static," "Icon" and Xombi" – all of which McDuffie had a hand in creating.

Over the years, the writer contributed to scores of notable comic book launches and series, always with a keen eye on character, regardless of race. In 2000, his character, Static, made the leap totelevision in the Saturday morning cartoon "Static Shock." In 2003, an episode of the show dealing with gun violence earned the writer the Humanitas Prize.

In recent years, McDuffie pursued dual tracks in animation and comics writing. He served as story editor for the popular "Justice League Unlimited" animated series and wrote a number of DC's recent direct-to-DVD animated films. McDuffie had notable runs on comic series "Fantastic Four" and "Justice League of America," often incorporating Black characters into the core of the fabled franchises.

McDuffie's latest work was the script for the "All Star Superman" animated adaptation, which went on sale today in stores across America. CBR ran a lengthy interview with McDuffie about that project last week and caught up with him, looking in good health and acting jovial, last week at the Paley Center's Los Angeles premier for the film. McDuffie's last known public statement was a post to his Facebook page Sunday at 12:17 PM Pacific. He was scheduled to sign at Golden Apple Comics tomorrow evening as part of Reggie Hudlin's Reggie's World launch party.

The writer is survived by his wife, though at this point no further details are available on what exactly happened to McDuffie. The staff of Comic Book Resources offers our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
