Hardware, Tweaking & Networking / Geforce 6600 GT (AGP 8X)
« on: February 04, 2005, 10:44:17 PM »
Well, I do plan to leave the FX series. I'm gonna reach over to the 6 series, but I still say the Fx5200 is pretty ok. I ain't saying it hot up and whatnot where I can rank with the big boys. This card is good for a beginner int he gaming arena. It's time for me to move on to bigger & better toys  :P

I know I won't rank with the high rollers in the graphics card field, but I mean for a starter, the 5200 is not all that bad I mean. WHen compared with those brand new dells people buy without those fancy graphics cards, I mean, come on! I plan on making upgrades in the August period

In response to the comments to the Geforce FX 5200, I own one right now, the 128MB AGP 8x version and it runs pretty ok. However Doom 3 & alot of other games (Hitman: Contracts inclusive) run at a decent 800x600 at 32 bit colour texture. I don't know if you guys tried pushing it to 1024x768, but at 800x600 it runs ok. Max Payne 2's default setting after I installed it are 1024x768 and 32 bit textures. THe only game to give major lags in Chronicles of Riddic: Escape From Butcher Bay. They reccomend for minnimun an AMD 64. It runs yes, but not very well. The graphics are stunning but FPS ratings take a plunge. I think I clocked at rougly 27.8956 FPS @ an embarassing 640x480 @ 32-bits. Doom 3 ran @ 31.289 FPS when the lights went out & in heavily lit areas dropped to like 20.7856 FPS. The resolution selected was 800x600 @ 32 bits. I already made an order for the Asus K8V-SE Deluxe mobo & an AMD 64 3400 processor. THe only thing left is the graphics card. My choice really was the 6600GT AGP 8x model. Well, I guess we will find out in August

Ok you guys, thanks for the many replies. Jus so you know, my COU is the Althon XP 2600, I heard some guys mention the 2500. I got the 2600, hope that will not limit the tru power of any graphics card.one thing I will mos def look at doing is a graphics card upgrade to the 6600GT and right now, totally optional, a processor upgrade to the Atlhon XP 3200. WHen I get my first job however, I will mos def do an overhaul with the mobo and spike to Athlon 64 3400 & 6600GT

Hey guys, I've been playing games with my Geforce Fx 5200 card, I know it's not all that hot up or anything, but I must admit, it is doin well especially when games like Doom 3 & Half Life 2 come to mind. I've been discussing all the time with cereal_killer about me getting the 6600GT AGP 8x version (When I check up on Nvidia's website there's an AGP 8X version & a PCI express version). He tells me that is the way to go. So, I wanted to know if anyone has owned one or has played on one to tell me what it's like.

Ok then, I know that repairing the sub may not sound as good as when I first got it, but I think if I port the box it might sound just as good. I will toy around with the ideas. DE, where's that place again that repairs the cone of the subwoofers?

Ok kool. Yea, my uncle has the Z-680 and I notice in addition to the porthole he has a large heatsync. I know for the amplification and power wattage too. Well, if they can repair the cone that's good. I may also think to ask them if they can install a port hole on this box. Does anyone know like the price difference to repair the cone or buy a new sub?

I have the logitech Z-640 5.1 surround computer stereo speakers. Good pong for the price. Now recenty I have heard a slight distrotion coming fromt he woofer expecially when it came to bassy games & tunes. Upon opening the grille of the woofer I've found the woofer cone to be warped beyond salvation. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions as to what I can do. To understand what I am talking about observee the twoo attached pictures

Good news.
I cleared me CMOS by moving the CMOS jumper and it works just as new. Any reason why this would act that way?

Software, Security, Programming and Internet / Nero 6 Ultra on XP SP2
« on: October 19, 2004, 08:40:30 PM »
Hey guys, I, being a long time supporter & user of Nero have hit a snag. I know alot of you guys have gone to Service Pack 2 for WIndows XP. I have been using Nero 6.3.1.25 Ultra edition for a while on ym machine, untill one day, it just stopped working. I went to Microsoft's website, and they said that Nero 6 Ultra would have some compatibility issues. WHen I visited Nero's site, they said 6.3.1.25 would work cuz the fixed some XPSP2 compatibility issue. One of my friends who has XP SP2 uses a totally different Nero, Nero 6 Enterprise edition. I was wondering if any of you guys could she light on this Nero dilemma and let me know waht I can do puhlease!!!!
