Port of Spain, Trinidad - Rates reduced to $0.25c per minute

From Monday May 15th, 2006, TSTT’s customers, both fixed and bmobile are set to benefit significantly from a reduction in rates to 25c per minute after the first three minutes via a special promotional offer.

According to Chief Executive Officer, Carlos Espinal, the company continues to raise the bar in adding value for its customers. “We are committed to ensuring that as many persons as possible can benefit from the services we provide at the most affordable rates” adding that the rate reduction is being introduced until final interconnect rates are implemented.

Gary Barrow, VP Mobile Services, pointed to the savings for bmobile customers in particular. ”For our bmobile customers, the rate for daytime calls after 3 minutes falls from $1.30 to 25c – so our customers will save over 80% on these calls. The same customer making a ten-minute call in the evening will enjoy a reduction in price from $9.75 to $4.95. A significant advantage for using T&T’s number one Mobile Network.”

The 25c promotional rate applies to domestic calls made from TSTT phones: from fixed line to any mobile and from GSM mobile phones to fixed lines or any mobile phone. FURTHER EXAMPLES

Fixed Lines A 10 minute call from a fixed line - was $8.00, now $4.15, saving $3.85 or 48%

Mobiles A 10 minute call from a bMobile during the Day - was $13.00, now $5.65, saving $7.35 or 57%

A 10 minute call from a bMobile in the Evening - was $9.75, now $4.95, saving $4.80 or 49%

counter the invading gnosis forces from the RPG Xenosaga

Hardware, Tweaking & Networking / Google Talk, wtf!?! another IM
« on: August 26, 2005, 08:01:07 PM »
Okay, so I just read thru an article on Cnet News.com that Google has launched their latest technology, Google Talk. An instant messenger service that is supposed to rival AOL, Yahoo! and MSN. Then I saw the stats...

Quote
AOL leads the pack in instant messaging, with about 41.6 million users, followed by about 19 million using Yahoo Messenger and 14 million using MSN Messenger, according to ComScore Media Metrix.

WTF!?!?!

If Yahoo! Instant Messenger leads MSN Messenger, then why do I have more contacts on my msn list than on my Yahoo list? Not only that, but more people tend to be on MSN at any given time than YahooIM...

* Voyd guesses those are "american" stats

Do we really need another IM?
Look at ICQ and IRC, the latter has now been relegated to file sharing mostly, rather than chats... (as our chat room is often vacant)

One advantage to Google Talk could be its ability to connect with users of competing services. The service is based on the Jabber open-source standard, which allows consumers to connect with other messaging systems that work with Jabber, such as Apple Computer's iChat, GAIM, Adium, Trillian Pro and Psi.

WTF uses any of those other apps, besides GAIM and Trillian, and even then, those are used to connect to the other 2 (or 3) networks.... sigh

PC Gaming / New MUD; recruiting players
« on: August 09, 2005, 09:57:38 AM »
I've recently come across another new distraction online. It's a MUD run by a russian guy I know (from another game). His name's Rakot and he's the God/Implementor. The name of the game is Middle-Earth Mystery. Based loosely on the works of JRR Tolkien. It's sorta new and so far it's pretty interesting. Alot of potential, but needs players.

So if you're at home bored and can't run any uber MMORPG's (Guild Wars, World of Warcraft, Lineage 2)
or maybe you're on dial up... then this can be a fun waste of time :P

the address to connect to is 213.167.43.180:4000
you'll need a MUD Client such as GMud or ZMud or SimpleMU

Look out for my mage and feel free to mention my name and GATT :P

Also, another thread of a similar nature but a bit aged....

Media / Voltron Zooms To Theaters
« on: July 26, 2005, 08:36:48 PM »

Producer Mark Gordon (The Day After Tomorrow) is developing a big-budget feature based on Voltron: Defender of the Universe, a 1980s Japanese animated series about a team of pilots whose individual ships combine to form a giant robot, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film will follow the team as they travel to the planet Arus to learn how to operate Voltron, the last hope against the evil Drule Empire that has subjugated Earth and taken control of the universe, the trade paper reported. The film will be produced by New Line Cinema's Mark Costa and Ford Oelman, who secured the rights from Voltron owner World Events. Pharrell Williams, a partner in the producing duo the Neptunes, will score the film and produce the soundtrack.
The Voltron series debuted in 1984, about the same time as Hasbro's Transformers toy line, igniting a morphing robot phenomenon. Voltron has generated $750 million in worldwide licensing and nearly $200 million in toys and merchandising since 1984, the trade paper reported. A Transformers film is also in development at DreamWorks.
