PC Gaming / Re: Steam region blocked games
« on: March 26, 2013, 03:47:01 PM »
Unfortunately, you will have to get someone with a US Steam acct to buy it and gift it to you.

If you can buy the disc, then do that.
You *might* be able to use the disc code to activate it on Steam.

I tried using a VPN to buy a region-locked game once, and the sale did go through, but it never showed up in my games list.  Steam eventually had to refund my 'Steam Wallet'.

Just a heads-up if you're contemplating that.

I was trying to get Batman Arkham City on steam and it said that it was region blocked, is there anything I can use to get around this or should I just purchase the disc itself?

TriniTechSquad Recommends / Re: SSD with HD setup help
« on: February 25, 2013, 09:28:38 PM »
sorry....what I meant was.....you run windows on your main gaming rig with an SSD only.....and you have a separate NAS / HTPC that houses the mechanical hard drives which will handle bulk storage.

The NAS / HTPC can run ubuntu or it could be just a dumb external drive that has no operating system.

All depends on your pocket and how tech savvy you are.

How hardcore is your home setup going to be?

Not that hardcore....i just wanted build a cheap pc just to store my music and play Day-Z  and maybe sim city too lol

Single SSD for your games and OS is fine.

You can get a roomy enough one reasonably priced. Say a 256GB or so.

Marry that with a massive external HDD for the perfect setup.

I say external as the mechanical drive can slow down your machine in eerie ways when it has to spin up.

Best for it to sit in a housing, NAS or an ubuntu box or so for bonus points.

Also great for sharing with friends, wifey, family, etc....

Let's say I go with this plan, would I be able to run Ubuntu with Windows 7?

Hey guys, I am planning to build a new pc later down the year and concerning the hard drive part of the build, I was thinking about using a SSD for the OS and using a normal HDD to store files, use apps etc., and I am a little confused about using a RAID setup for the system or just leave it as it is. Should I just install the OS on the SSD by itself is it safe to do the RAID?.  I don't know if I am explaining this properly.

Yes, very old.  Newegg actually declined my very next purchase.

They do not accept international credit cards.  Period.
If you want to purchase from Newegg, you have to send a good old money order.

SwiftKeyed from my Samsung Galaxy S3 with Tapatalk 2
how do you do a money order?

UPDATE

I did a lil research on newegg and apparently they dont accept money orders anymore

I think Ezone/PO Box Int'l offers something similar.....

But I agree this is a VERY important thread... for those of us who engage in importing computer parts regularly.

Take some more Chakura, Arc...

*bows*  Buddha Be Praised.

aye ..they start to accept trini credit cards ....

i remember they weren't a while aback..

Yep, they do now.  I created an account and was actually able to successfully purchase stuff from Newegg,
using my Republic Bank Visa I might add.

I know this post old but i signed up with paypal using Republic Bank VTM and their Visa Credit, but when i try to purchase items from Newegg, it keeps saying it can't payment... is there anyway to bypass this?

Just came back from Imax and all I have to say is......WOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWOMGWOW!

Enjoyed every fracking minute of it. Can't dissect it and talk about each part because I would get too excited and stop, yes it was that good.

The most comicbooky of all the Nolan Batman films and that ending....THE ENDING.....phew. The comicbook nerd in me flew all the way up to the roof.

Well done Christopher Nolan, you crafty bastard :D

I can't wait to see what he does with Superman
