PC Gaming / Connection problems with League of legends?
« on: March 28, 2016, 07:54:14 AM »

Sorry for late response I was helping run/shoutcasting a $3000 dota 2 trini tournament (sponsored by flow) over in the local dota group.Look out for nearby LoL events.

So you are having issues  with league. . And it will be fixed eventually. For now however you have some options. These are the noted things that have worked thus far.

I will arrange based on threat level . (Note if you are not tech savvy ask us to help. Remember we have a FLOW VIP GAMER TECH SUPPORT GROUP info below. )

Basic Lag and ping issues : Using wtfast http://www.wtfast.com/promote.aspx?APID=2719
(Choose League of Legends, choose a chicago or florida server for best results)

Minor connection issues ; Changing your DNS . You can use google dns or open dns. Some people have fixed all their issues doing this alone .

Major connections issues : Inability to login or load in after champ select
^ You need to use a decent vpn. Vyprvpn by golden frog works well but remember to turn off other programs is they will use up your free trial data.
Avast vpn also works well. 7 day premium free trial.
https://vyprvpn.com/refer?ar=2fsvbksgvc6nm_1 (use chicago server)
https://www.avast.com/en-us/secureline-vpn#pc (use Miami server)
^Also for some people logging in with avast is troublesome . If so start league of legends first, log in and then connect to avast.
https://www.hotspotshield.com/ is another vpn gaining some traction
(Thanks to Angelo Khan for suggesting )

If you have issues with this or other games. Or you have no idea how to do any of the above mentioned fixes. Carigamers has a FLOW VIP Gamer support group on telegram. We have flow technicians in there who we can escalate your issues to after we run diagnostics. Get telegram www.telegram.org ( works on pc/android/web)
And send me a message (here or on facebook) and i will get you in there to receive help. Its free of charge.
Sorry if you are having gaming issues .

Newbie Corner / Re: GATT Terms of Service
« on: February 05, 2016, 08:05:32 AM »
Terms of Conduct

These rules are to ensure a safe gaming environment for people of different ages and backgrounds.

1. No explicit language or cursing. This includes your gaming name and call sign as well. Clever plays on words will not be accepted as well or seen as an exception.

2. No personal attacks on members and staff. Members can discuss differing opinions in civil ways without insulting other members.

3. No racism. We know many times in heated competitions people say things that may not necessarily reflect on their actual views however we will not be taking this lightly.

4. No spamming.

5. No advertisement without an admin's permission.

6. No political or religious arguments. A gaming community is hardly the place.

7. No sexism. All genders are welcomed and are to be respected as peers.

8. No elitism . You are expected to promote healthy mentalities about gaming. We welcome gamers of all skill and knowledge levels.

9. No illicit activity or pornographic material. This is not the place to share something shady or try to involve people in a criminal act.

10. Be respectful and mindful of our sponsors and partners who support gamers and eSports in the community. A lot of our events and promotions would not be possible without them.

Anyone who breaks these terms repeatedly will be removed from the associated groups.

I decided to write this guide. I don't think I should , have time for nor would I pretend to have the expertise to give you analysis tips. So I will write what I can , in terms of figuring out your exact problem I would start with

This guide assumes you already use
www.speedtest.net or www.pingtest.net

^Carigamer's speedtest and ping on flow fibre.

1. Speedtest to your ISP's server.
2. Speedtest to a server off island (Florida is usually the best default setting for the caribbean.)

You should also consider getting Flow (unapologetic plug). If you already have flow and you are experience issues that are taking too long for a hardcore gamer like yourself to resolve then this guide is for you. This page is not for you to complain about your current ISP , it is to help u find some small fixes so that your gaming life does not suffer.

This is a tool I use that usually assists me in diagnosing the issue.
http://netalyzr.icsi.berkeley.edu/ This is the netalyzr. There is an app for it as well. I have used it for years. If you aren't sure what could possibbly be affecting your connection. Use this , and let it do it's thing. If you are unsure of the terms it uses , ask a tech friend or google is your best friend.

Some basic necessary mentions are simple things such as :
Limit the dowload speed of devices on your network.
Restart your router
Make sure all wires are connected properly

Upgrade your Network Adapter Drivers: You would be surprised how many games lag because people upgrade their gfx card drivers all the time but always forget about their network adapter.

Use Google dns: To be honest this wont help much but it helps overall a lot. It can also get u back online if ur net is offline due to dns related issues. https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using?hl=en

Scan your pc : I suggest you use https://www.malwarebytes.org/ .

Ping and lag fixes programs :
I will skip certain basics here . But I advise you look up a few guides on small things u can do to optimize your connection. Something as simple as gaming closer to your router can make the world of different.

So each of these programs I use used myself. Most of them work pretty well .

If you were a WoW player or a Final Fantasy Realm Reborn player then you probably heard of this. I highly advise this for mmrorpg related lag.
http://www.leatrix.com/leatrix-latency-fix

^This wonderful program can change the way u game. But be warned , for some games it can reduce your delay but it can also give you the occasional spikes.

My personal go to for quick fix / high ping.
Next I want to suggest my favorite gpn (gaming private network). www.wtfast.net  . They should still have a solid free trial , but if u want to pay for it, they are definitely worth it. I advise this for the League of legends or Moba players . I currently use it for the Diablo ish game called Devillian.

If your wtfast free trial runs out and u dont want to pay. I suggest this good ole fashioned vpn.  Haven't seen ads or had any issues with this one. You get 500 mbs free monthly . I use the Miami server.
https://www.goldenfrog.com/vyprvpn?gclid=CJfV8aCZicoCFc2RHwodBloIYg
500mb monthly doesnt sound like a lot. However if u update your game then restart it with this vpn on. You close your browser ( as u should if u experience lag anyway) for lets say a moba. You would be surprised if u burnt even 5 mbs off it.

For a general program to help you. Use http://www.razerzone.com/cortex/game-booster . This tends to be a bit overrated however it can be a good tool to clean your pc, check your drivers and give you some light optimizations. Thread carefully using this though , don't do anything u cannot undo. And also unless you understand what everything does. Try a method at a time. And do not over do mixing methods. Figure out one or two that work and stick to em.

So that's basically it . Feel free to look up basic lag fix guides. Make sure no one stealing your net to netflix and chill. I don't advise changing much on your router. However for some people look into QoS . But depending on your network card you can change your QoS setting.

Here are some more basics you should try.
http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-2091288/reduce-lag-video-games.html

If I remember or find anything else I will be sure to add. Good luck with your gaming , and feel free to share this guide on facebook etc so that others can stop lagging and delaying.

Twitch florida servers should be fine. Additionally there are some options u can use to fix that . Um its hard to give the answer off hand. But essentially delay your stream. And there should be some other options that should help. What u can also do is use wtfast for your game so your game doesnt affect your stream ping as much. You can also attempt to lower your general ping . Proxying may be an option as well.

I would suspect frame drops(by your gfx/cpu and packet loss. I doubt ping is your immediate issue. Or who knows, can you tell me your ping to twitch florida , chicago and canadian servers ?
A bit rusty ,im sure there is another answer as well , will have to open obs to see. But lowering ur bitrate may help or render speed.

Essentially to stream you need 3 important things. Without any of these u are dead in the water.

1. A decent gaming rig that can run your game and render the stream simultaneously. Most people believe they have a good pc that runs most games on high well thats until they have to stream the game on high and they realize just how weak their gfx card can be .

2. Software . U need good stream softwares there are various ones . I advise OBS open broadcasting software. Xsplit is also good. the rest tend to be complicated with little pay off. xsplit has a small cost but it should still have a free version.

3. A great connection. U could have 200 dollar premium software and a 20k gaming pc but if ur internet cant handle it you are donezo . To stream HD u need roughly 2mb upload. Which some of u are saying ok ya i have that... u need that seperate from the bandwidth the game uses otherwise ur stream will be fine but u will lag ur lass off. 480p can be accomplished with about 1 mb give or take a .5 mb depending on ur fps.

Here are some guides to get u started .

 https://www.reddit.com/r/Twitch/comments/2u7rfz/i_created_a_complete_beginners_guide_to_twitch/

http://www.tomsguide.com/us/twitch-streaming-guide,review-3009.html

Feel free to look up some youtube guides as well . OBS has a great estimator to tell you WHAT U REQUIRE AND IF U CAN DO IT. THIS WILL SAVE U HOURS OF TESTS. input ur specs and see what u need to change to be able to stream.

https://obsproject.com/estimator

But my basic guide is
Create twitch account
Download OBS
Read/watch OBS guides
Customize your settings.
Customize your game.
Test speakers and mic .
Test visual stuff and stream.
Test stream with game running

The last thing I want to say is learning how to stream can be a little discouraging however once u understand it , its fairly simple to do when ur ready to do it. at least on a average level. I urge u do not sit and attempt to stream for the first time unless u have about an hour to orient yourself with it.
Otherwise everyone will know you are into japanese tentacles and cat videos .

Which brings me to my other point. Clean your browsing history and desktop before u stream. No matter how careful u think u are , viewers will see stuff u may not be comfortable with em seeing. Remember streaming means letting everyone see your PERSONAL computer. meaning who ur talking to on facebook and who u have spoken to recently on skype . So make sure u clean your ish up.

Thats it for now .

Low but i know men does have some old mid range cards they would easily part with. Just something with about a gig of memory. Not high end games. random steam games, minecraft, league of legends and whatever else he and his friends into

For a good card i would go to 350 but it's really a pity buy for him . If i end up in a mid range price realm best i buy a new card for myself and give him my old one .

I used to frequent pokerstars myself. If we dont get enough buzz for a big local tournament we can always create an online local community for it.

I used to play a lot of texas hold em some years ago both on and offline. I actually get into it more online via a gaming community who actually had a poker section. And I would like to know if u guys would be interested in that sort of thing. Gatt recognising poker as a game valid of its attention and possibly doing tournaments for it.

I have heard whispers of all four tournaments in the past. Why not texas? No need to go casino and play with uncertain amounts of money. Structured texas hold em tournaments with skill , fairly priced buy ins and great cash prizes for the winners. Maybe even a trophy. hey why not. Let me know if we should make this a thing.
