Very interesting and informative video up there. Also some very insightful reading. Those who've lost friends and family to any type of cancer as well as everyone else should look into this. We do in fact live on an island and greater amounts of sunlight on a daily basis than other areas of the world. I have lost a relative to cancer, not skin, but knowing and being educated about these things are part of the battle we human beings must fight for ourselves and our loved ones.

P.S. - For those who do read into this, please do not go jumping into diagnosing yourself, not a good idea.

So there's a high possibility that there's a thread for this already but to find it may be a pain in the ass.

I'm trying to burn off some movies onto DVD's so i can watch in a normal player. Windows DVD Maker was working for me to a point where it didn't take .mkv file formats (FML)... SO i am either:

1) In search of a decent program that'll convert .mkv to .avi or something else to burn onto DVDs using Windows DVD Maker or...

2) A program which will burn the mkv file straight to the DVD to play off the bat.

N.B. - there's also the issue of keeping subtitles and audio sync etc when converting to avi. Already tried a program and i lost the subtitles on a movie i was trying to burn off.

Media / Local Talent

Heads up, it is Christian themed but still has a positive vibe anyone can take from.

The director and editor of the video is a friend of mines and a UWI Film student. Really skilled camera man, editor, make up artiste, director. This is one of his many works he's done.

Gary Acosta, the first spoken word artiste, a partner of mine who was a few years ahead of me in school. Really talented guy if u listen to his lyrics.

The guitarist and other spoken word artiste i'm not too familiar with them but the three of them perform regularly in One Mic (see Facebook link below)

So for those who like poetry, arts, music etc, this is a must see. Enjoy!

Ole Talk / Miscommunication is a BITCH
« on: March 18, 2011, 11:28:17 PM »
so today, i had the pleasure of doing business with Notnice. I am well satisfied with the product, the quality is what he promises.

For someone like me, who, is from the better half of the country, the southland, i of course in my short life span, havent been able to properly explore the east-west corridor.

Below is a re-enactment and dramatization of my morning.

Virtue - "so notnice, where exactly is your house?"
Notnice - "xth corner down the road, turn left, 4th house on the left, a pink house"
V - "street name?"
NN - "X Street"

Virtue travels from St. Augustine to Curepe to Valpark shopping plaza.

V - "i in valsayn, omw to you"
*walks down the road, the xth street, no X Street*
V - "so hoss, i not seeing the sign or nuttin, am i in the right place?"
NN - "xth street down, turn left, pink house, 4th on the left?"
V - "yea boy, i outside the pink house"
NN - "lemme come outside to see if i see you. Theres a empty plot of land with bush on the corner too"
V - "yea i seeing it, and they have men cuttin grass right?"
NN - "yea they next door"
V - "yea"
........
NN - "where you?"
V - "i walk down the road from valpark?"
NN - "i living on the other side"
V - "well follow the instructions didnt  i? ah mean..."
NN - " i coming to meet you by valpark"
V - *faceplam*
NN - "i clean forget that the area does look the same, i didnt even kno they had a pink house in the same spot!"

Moral of the story, dont buy from Notnice again XD

Mobile Phones & Gadgets / Unlocking BlackBerry Smartphones
« on: January 17, 2011, 12:46:26 PM »
I'm currently on an endeavor to have my BB unlocked. The process is alot more simple than i thought it was but the requirements are what i'm currently trying to work around. Because this is the first phone of its type i've ever had the opportunity to own  there are of course many things that i don't know.

YouTube, the "easy" button of the internet, made things very clear to me thru a simple walk through video with a guy showing how to unlock the phones in the phone's settings. All i need now of course is the MEP Network key for my phone itself. I was wondering if i in fact had to pay to obtain this number from a dealer, or the phone models all have the same code that i can get the generic code and just use that or if anyone knows another way to do this. Any thoughts?
