That's what happens when you disrespect your opponent. He's done it so many times I'm glad it finally caught up to him.

Next stop: Chapter 11

You used to be able to use blackberry internet plans with any phone before (at least on bmobile). It has to do with how the internet and blackberry APNs are activated. So you could have used the $99 blackberry plan and gotten the same service as the $149 plan meant for other phones.
Apparently it's no longer possible to do this. I'm no longer actively involved in the industry so I really couldn't tell you the technical reason behind it, suffice to say it's legit.

Competition FTW.

Clearly d Bmobile / Digi battle in trini heating up, good times ahead for TT customers. Personally i fedup of d 4meg speeds, i want LTE. Men in the states right now rocking 40-50meg normal. Caribbean still lacking behind in mobile tech by a significant margin. We now getting ah 3meg, them looking to move to LTE Advance. But still cant complain as said before, anything is better than edge (until u get used to it and want more speed!)

You might have to wait a lil while for that. Right now LTE requires a complete rebuild of the network. So TSTT HSPA+ and Digicel HSPA solution will have to make do until they can generate enough cash to do a network rebuild or at least roll it out in a phased basis. AFIAK Bmobile already has an LTE network in the form of the WiMax so maybe they might roll out LTE before digi? time will tell i guess.

Not so. Both Digicel and bMobile are using the latest network evolution roadmaps which are designed to go from GSM/EDGE to HSPA+ to LTE by design. The hardware swaps required to an LTE jump would be minimal to zero. The new systems are designed to make the jump purely through a software upgrade.

The reason why you won't see LTE right now is very simple, there just aren't many LTE capable handsets in the market. My Galaxy Nexus is less than a year old and it's only HSPA+, the LTE version was CDMA only. So a quick LTE jump is pointless as you'd now have to re-seed the market with capable devices...right after you just done do that to take advantage of HSPA+

I don't have anything to do with the mobile industry anymore so I'll just comment freely. $0.80/MB? LMAO!
Guys, just what are you doing?

You know that saying "After freeness is penis," it is part of their bmobile mission statement.

What I want to know is the progress of their actual 4g(HSPA+) network and has anyone had a sneak peak at its performance and/or pricing. Cause the  digicel postpaid 4g plan is looking mighty tempting.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

Frankly there's absolutely no reason to have left it for free.
Suggest you wait a month on the latter.

So... if i have data but doh plan to use the wifi hotspots for anyting much what stoping me from givin my codes to someone who not bonafide?

Pretty much nothing. Gonna be like back in the days with TSTT dial-up where every man jack did know somebody unlimited account password.

That's unavoidable. The sheer scale of blackwater is such that HBO could never afford to do it. In a perfect world that episode would look like the siege in Kingdom of Heaven but spending tens of millions of a proper recreation isn't just out of HBO's reach, it's out of any TV network's reach.

And also do the battle scenes in a Total War game.

If anything will sink this series it's going to be production costs. I imagine they spent half their damn budget on the Blackwater, knowing the content of the next 3 books I can't imagine they can keep this up for long.
Rome was a fantastic show that had to be canceled because they couldn't keep the costs going, despite the show being partially subsidized.

Of course Martin could very well die before he finishes, regardless of what happens to the tv series I think the best odds are on this.

I haven't read the entire thread but if no one has mentioned The Wire let me do so now.
Relatively unknown, under appreciated, but probably the finest television series I've ever seen. Was actually the favourite show of Obama as well actually.

I've seen all of Sopranos, but The Wire is easily HBO's greatest masterpiece.

well from a newsletter
they catered for over 400k users at the minimum of 3mbits per user.

seems digicel came prepared from the get go.

they are providers in many different countries that have larger client bases and no complaints.

Marketing statistics at its finest. If 400k people logged into their 4G network you would feel like you were driving to go see redbull flugtag all over again.

Sigh.
If you're in very close proximity to a tower you can get those speeds or if nobody using the network, but they are not averages or medians.

http://www.pcworld.com/article/253809/3g_and_4g_wireless_service_in_13_us_cities.html

And that for your trouble.
I'd say that beats your anecdotal data. Furthermore, I work in this industry. Not just on projects in Trinidad but in other parts of the region as well on projects that have dealt with 3G/4G transitions. No matter which man where get what, I know what the averages and medians are (straight through industry sources/news), and those aren't it.

Good ole digicel lol. Ill Call HSDPA + 4g, but d regular one way slower. 4G in america, is all kinda 20 meg. and LTE is 50. A total difference than what d Caribbean branding as 4g.

Totally an example of seeing greener grass.
U.S. users don't get those kinds of speeds you're mentioning. Those are theoretical lab speeds, they don't exist in practical use. Second, the concept of branding HSPA+ as 4G started with Sprint in the U.S. and was used by all their carriers (except Verizon I think). It comes from the fact that HSPA+ delivers speeds in excess of WiMAX, which is accepted as a 4G technology.
So don't fight them down, they not doing anything out of the ordinary. Trini just feel that every mobile operator out to get them.

And if everyone wants to get real technical, there is no technology on the market at the moment that fits the original ITU standards for 4G. Even LTE from a tech point of view is "3.9G". The "true" 4G technology, LTE-Advanced, hasn't seen any deployment yet.

It would be the same MiFi, dongle etc.

As far as number portability and tstt fighting it down, it may surprise you to learn that Digicel is just as against it as bmobile is. Yup, neither side is interested in providing it.

Prices seem pretty good. What you guys are missing is that generally speaking prices aren't set relative to other territories, cost or anything along those lines. What they're doing is called market pricing. Since Digicel is providing a premium product and one that is exclusive to them atm they basically setting the price to suit. Hence their low price point is gauged to take bmobile's market share and then they gradually step it up from there to their top end product.
The U.S. is a very different type of pricing. While they also price to market, operators have to be cognizant of the fact that there are direct substitutes to their service available. Maybe we'll see a price war here when bmobile launches.

The Blackberry social plans are also VERY aggressively priced, their 400MB plan is cheaper than Bmobile's current plan on EDGE. Given that the overwhelming majority of smartphones in T&T are bberrys this isn't surprising either.

As to the talk of unlimited, not going to happen. Not on Digicel and 100% not on bmobile. If it does happen at all, expect it to be at a ridiculous price point  that you probably won't b willing to pay (srs).

I'm on the 25Mbit package, which as of this morning was working at

I'm wondering if this is just a Chaguanas thing in part. Over the weekend I was literally below 1Mbit, couldn't even log in to PSN. But even with the speed rebound, torrents definitely haven't gone back to where they should be. I've only started using FLOW for about a week now, so when I saw the low torrent speeds last week I did a google search and found a thread on trinituner talking about how FLOW throttles p2p.

I'll take your recommendation and shoot a pm off to Shinsoo though. Thanks. Hopefully this can get sorted out.

19
So what exactly does it take to get past this obvious p2p throttling FLOW has going on?
The speeds on my torrent remind me of the old days on Carib Link dial up when I used to put stuff to download on GoZilla and wake up in the morning to see that it went all night at 4kB/sec (score!).

Surely you guys don't live with this. Must be something. VPN. SOMETHING to get around this.
Say what you will about Blink, but you can use your bandwidth there however the hell you please once you don't break their daily cap.

There needs to be some education directed at parents. At the end of the day yahoo, google, ISPs etc will never be able to do enough to limit a child's exposure to inappropriate material. Because that would require wholesale internet censorship, which should never happen.

Parents need to be educated on how to make the computers as safe as is practical through responsible usage habits, parental software etc.
