Ole Talk / Anyone able to help regarding an old PA system?
« on: January 13, 2010, 12:49:25 PM »
I dunno if this is the right spot to post this, this isn't really computer hardware per say, relocate if required I suppose.

Anyway, a club I'm part of has a really old ass PA system that they use for our meetings. Basically I'm trying to figure out how I can play music through it. Pics of said relic:

So what I'm wondering if there's any way I could get a cable that would enable me to connect say my ipod or netbook into this thing and play music through it for the meeting. I dunno, like a headphone jack that would connect to one of those mic connections. Worst case I'd be willing to buy a cheap CD player to interface in there but if I could somehow use my ipod / netbook that'd be best.
Assuming no GATTers are familiar with these things, anyone know a place I should check? I'm in Chaguanas btw.

Microsoft Xbox / Anyone getting trouble with XBL Marketplace?
« on: June 09, 2009, 06:01:46 PM »
So all along everything is working normal with XBL and my local credit card and suddenly today, the day the IRON MAIDEN song pack comes out for Rock Band 2 I try to load up some points in XBL and suddenly it can't be bothered processing my credit card anymore. Has this happened to anyone else?

I never had any problems before. I got some small hope when I saw amazon had an online store i could buy the points from but apparently they're scanning my location and not liking it, even though i use a us billing address for amazon. Can I outfox them somehow with a proxy to make it seem I'm in the U.S.?
HELP! Iron Maiden awaits.

Ole Talk / Pepper spray
« on: March 11, 2009, 11:47:28 PM »
Does anyone know where you can get this?
A friend of mine was asking. Last year someone was advertising pepper spray capable key chains in UWI but that seems to be gone now so I'm trying to find her an alternate source.

Anyone able to help?

Sony PlayStation / Oh HELL no...**** you Sony
« on: October 21, 2008, 12:17:47 PM »
http://www.gamespot.com/news/6199672.html

While it has yet to be seen if the PlayStation Network is ready to handle the traffic that will accompany next week's launch of Little Big Planet and its sharing tools for user-generated content, Sony Computer Entertainment America has made sure its online service is ready to go from a legal standpoint.

Last week SCEA sent out amendments to its PlayStation Network terms of service and user agreement. PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable users will need to agree to the new rules if they want to play their games online, participate in Home, buy games from the PlayStation Store, subscribe to a game, or download a patch or other game update.

The amendments include a number of eyebrow-raising new provisions dealing with player privacy and user-created content. Under the "Code of Conduct" section, SCEA added a provision that players can't tell anyone their real names or "any other personally identifying information." The rule also applies to names of other people or businesses.

And while gamers can't go spreading their names around, the user agreement stats that Sony can share gamers' personal information with third parties "for the purpose of providing... access to PSN content." It does not specify if that content includes advertising as well as games, movies, and other downloadable offerings.

The code of conduct also now specifies that anyone who uses PSN gives SCEA "express consent to monitor and record" their activities, and that the company may do so as it sees fit. And while the terms state that SCEA can turn over user information like an Online ID and IP address to "the appropriate authorities," they also state there is no requirement or expectation that the company monitor or record any activity over the network, and that SCEA can remove content or communication from the service without notifying users.

That's not the only thing SCEA can do without notification (or consequence) under the new agreement.

"Some content may be provided automatically without notice when you sign into PSN," the agreement reads. "Such content may include automatic updates or upgrades which may change your current operating system, cause a loss of data or content or cause a loss of functionalities or utilities. You authorize SCEA to provide such content and agree that SCEA shall not be liable for any damages arising from provision of such content or maintenance services. It is recommended that you regularly back up any data located on the hard disk that is of a type that can be backed up."

Finally, SCEA added a new section on "user material and information" that allows the company to provide "others" with information about users' communication and gameplay over PSN. Further, the company can distribute or publish that information "for any legitimate business purpose" without payment to the users. The example given is for tournaments or ranking purposes.

The section also deals more directly with users' creations, which presumably includes everything from custom-made levels in Little Big Planet to songs penned using the Guitar Hero World Tour studio mode.

"To the extent permitted by law, you authorize and license SCEA a royalty free and perpetual right to use, distribute, copy, modify, display, and publish your User Material for any reason without any restrictions or payments to you or any third parties," the agreement states. "You further agree that SCEA may sublicense its rights to any third party, including its affiliates and subsidiaries. You hereby waive all claims, including any moral rights, against SCEA, its affiliates and subsidiaries for SCEA or any other third party's use of User Material to the extent permitted by applicable law."

Representatives with Sony did not return GameSpot's request for comment.

Just on principle, if I'm going to be doing any online gaming later this year it's gonna be with an XBL membership.
Sony can go to hell with an attitude like that.

Politics & Soap Box Rants / Inshan muscled out?
« on: January 22, 2007, 08:52:48 PM »
My dad told me he saw on the news that TATT order IBN to take the shows Inshan Ishmael hosts off the air. All I have to say is "AWW HELL NAW".

If this isn't governmental interference at the highest level I don't know what is. The one man on tv who ent fraid to talk sense about what happening in the country and they want to stifle his voice. Where the freedom of speech?

Console Gaming Archive / How do I use X-Box Live in Trinidad?
« on: November 21, 2004, 11:44:38 AM »
I'm on TSTT DSL and I can't get this bloody thing to connect.

I used the winipcfg thing to find my IP,DNS and MAC number so all the errors I was getting for IP and DNS are gone but for some reason I'm getting the blasted "XBox Live not found" message for the 4th check.I tried unplugging my modem and even the router like they say on xbox.com but no go.

Could it be that the router needs to be changed? The modem goes into the router which connects into 5 computers and I'm using one of those ethernet lines to connect into the XBox.

Does anyone know what the hell is going on?

Ole Talk / Damn you Comcast
« on: November 14, 2004, 09:39:10 PM »
Kevin's Website

To quote what he wrote:
Today many of my friends were let go as the network made changes to revamp for new shows.  Unscrewed was canceled, and The Screen Savers is being revamped.  More to come soon…

Dan,Alex and believe it or not,Yoshi were all let go as Comcast decides to screw with the formula yet again.
Outrage was so great after this the g4techtv site went down shortly after.

Burn G4.Burn.

EDIT:
A thread I found on GameFAQs about Unscrewed's final episode

PC Gaming / Next generation = the end for mod chips?
« on: January 07, 2004, 08:42:42 PM »
Last generation we saw console manufacturers, specifically Sony creating specific hardware and software types designed specifically to detect the presence of modchips and deny access to the game if there was one.
Of course the chip soltuion to this is a better chip that they can't detect.

However Microsoft seems to have stumbled onto the ultimate solution.I saw an old episode of the Call-for-Helpathon and Roger Chang said something that piqued my interest. He said that when you sign up for XBox Live the system checks your hardware for the presence of a modchip and if one is detected, your credit card and the serial number of your console is banned by Microsoft from play online.

Is this the golden solution to piracy that everyone has been waiting for?Using online detection technology means that any changes made to modchip hardware could easily be entered as a new search parameter in online scanners.Given that console online gaming is set to blow up next generation could this mean the end for modchips and thus piracy, will the pirates simply stay offline or could they possibly devise something to evade this?

Or will the death knell for piracy simply be the now very active COTT?

Hello there everyone.Exar Kun here.I've decided that from now on I'll be doing a preview a week here for the benefit of our members.I'll give a short introduction as well as sites where you can find info on the game.As usual,if interesting links come to me I'll post them.I've been a member of the GameFAQs message boards for 3 and 1/2 years and I find a lot of nice links there.Note that basic information for the games will be related here so if knowing even the smallest detail pisses you off then you are excused.
So here goes.

Today I'm going to take you all back in history to ancient China.Jade Empire is the newest game to be coming from celebrated developer BioWare, creators of the famous Baldur's Gate series and more recently the acclaimed Star wars game,Knight of the Old Republic.
Jade Empire was created to play very much the way KOTOR plays now and has been a brainchild of BioWare for nearly 10 years.
In the game you will play as a character of your design who is seeking to avenge the murder of his father.

Throughout the game you will travel through many locations and ideas from ancient Chinese mythology.
The game will feature the same good/evil system as in KOTOR though supposedly you will now have more branches and choices. The game's fighting will be entirely realtime this time around with your character being able to use over 30 different styles of fighting. From weapon styles,to defensive to offensive martial arts, even to improvised weapons like a stool.Additionally you will be given the chance to recruit for yourself a party of characters who will stay at your base a la Suikoden. These characters can be used to carry out tasks in th land or you can do it yourself. The character type you send can mean the difference between a diplomatic resolution a la a Chinese Wu Yong or a bloody end a la a Chinese Li Kui.
Check it out:

The graphics in the game easily outstrip KOTOR.

Reviews, Previews & First Looks / Final Fantasy XII
« on: November 25, 2003, 10:18:22 PM »
What does everyone think of the game so far?I think it is looking pretty good,it the first FF we'll be seeing changes in for some time.
The main character looks girly as usual though.Seems that with every game the hero gets more effeminate.
From badman Cecil to Locke and Cloud then to the last hope in Squall. Then it started.Zidane, then Tidus who looks like Meg Ryan and now this joker.

But anyway, some of you may remember me from the old GATT board. To celebrate my return to GATT I have a gift that most of you probably haven't seen:link to a FFXII movie!!

Yep,Merry Christmas!
Now help me out with some donations!A man scruntin' here.

PC Gaming / Console Gaming Online
« on: November 25, 2003, 05:53:20 PM »
This is obviously the next big thing to happen with consoles and undoubtedly the next generation of consoles will have big online plans.

But even right now there are big plans happening for online.Which really brings me to my question, has anyone ever tried online from T&T?

Is this possible?Is it practical?For PS2?For X-Box Live?
If this was a possibility it'd be a mad cool feature for us all over here.
