Any idea how the wireless tv going to work? Just a local server broadcasting to tv "clients" wirelessly?

Don't really know that. I know the tech, spectrum etc but my assumption is that it would be the way you're thinking. Except in places where there's already the fiber optic connectivity, I guess they'll continue to receive that.

Two articles I saw in the Guardian that I'm posting up for thought.
http://www.guardian.co.tt/business-guardian/2012-04-25/tstt-announces-mobile-broadband-strategy

A takeaway point from the Digicel article
Quote
Dorian explains that Digicel expects to launch its 4G network by the middle of May and is using technology provided by Ericsson.

EVDO and WIMAX are a completely different thing to 3G. Serves a different segment, has a different usage expectation and also forms a different line of business.

Believe me when I say there will be caps. If there's one thing operators, vendors and consultants now know it's that you can't give carte blanche to users anymore. AT&T did it and iPhone users sucked them drier than a WASA pipe in rural Trinidad.
Caps are coming. And if my word isn't enough, consider this. Digicel has already launched 3G in Bermuda, Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao and the French West Indies. They ALL have caps in place. And overage rates for when you cross them.

The caps are really meant to target a very small segment. Those that tether their phones to PCs and those that stream a lot of video. Guys using facebook alot , listening to music now and then and using GPS won't feel the pinch so much. But the strain on the network from the guy who's on netflix or youtube all day is significant.

Caps on fixed broadband, I can't comment on that at all. I hope it isn't coming, but that isn't my industry so I wouldn't know anyway. But mobile caps are here to stay, they won't even chance a window without them. Regardless of the user base. Part of the game is not letting usage get out of hand in the first place. A guy pulling 10GB per month is gonna be pissed if you try to limit him 6 months later, so they won't even let him have the chance.

If you're such a gamer, these incoming upgrades to the mobile network may mean you can replace your domestic connection with a wireless one. Once you're a bachelor or such.

Hate to break it to you and anyone whose hopes you may have raised, but you definitely won't be able to do that.
Bandwidth is at a premium on high speed mobile networks. I can guarantee you 100% that any 3G network will be implemented with caps. As in you'll get say 2GB or whatever per month and get billed anything beyond that, or have your speed throttled back to EDGE levels.

And before the choruses cursing TSTT and/or Digicel start up, this is established protocol in developed markets. Between say AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile, the highest offering there is 5GB from T-mobile. Other two have their highest plans at like 2-3GB per month.

There are certain reasons why right now that I can't get into that allow people can get away with tethering and downloading huge amounts of data through their mobile phone onto their computers. This is pretty much DOA once a high speed network launches.

FLOW and Blink's ADSL not losing their home business to this anytime soon (or ever).

Okay so, I'll address you in point form here:
1) You'll notice that your article shows average download speeds essentially in the range of what the chart I produced showed.
2) I've said as well that mobile broadband speeds can fluctuate wildly based on local conditions, note where I had a co-worker getting 50mbps on a LTE connection standing under a tower.
3) I actually can't comment on TSTT EVDO performance. I have used wireless modems from TSTT that used WIMAX, and those generally delivered the speeds they should have.
4) EVDO shouldn't be compared to mobile broadband in our countries. EVDO is very low on the 3G totem pole. Generally EVDO is seen on mobile networks using CDMA. I'm pretty sure all those providers you're comparing with are using some form of UMTS, which is a faster technology.
5) EVDO fell under TSTT's mobile broadband umbrella of services, which they did in fact upgrade with WIMAX. Upgrading EVDO itself would have been pretty pointless.
6) As far as milking the customer, not sure what you mean here. Is it a way for them to get people to spend more money on mobile services? Absolutely. The entire point of 3G is to keep people spending more money on data services and increase the overall amount of $ you pay to the operator.
7) That said though, I totally understand why there's vitriol directed towards mobile operators, especially bmobile. Alot of it is warranted. But some of it really isn't.
8) Don't get too hung up on that 3G/4G thing with the HTC phone. It's HSPA+ or some other form of UMTS everything was using.

Edit: Here's a new report that could offer you some perspective on what we could, and should, be expecting in terms of performance.

You can be pretty much assured that it's going to be a spectrum that is generally supported and I'll tell you why. The critical component from a commercial point of view in a 3G launch is devices. Operators who are launching these networks generally need to seed the market with devices for many months before in order to have a successful uptake. You might not realize this but operators subsidize a lot of the handsets that they sell, both through their stores and their dealers. So seeding a market with handsets not only becomes a question of getting people to shell out the money, but it's also a cost to the operator since they take a hit with each handset sold. So it's in their interest to have an upgrade path that doesn't alienate customers and also one that is heavily supported by device manufacturers.

To answer your question though, I think Digicel is either 1900 or 2100, tbh I've forgotten which it was. bMobile just signed their deal, I don't know what their frequency would be, though I couldn't say it anyway due to nda.
I think though that as long as you have a fairly modern phone, especially one that's currently being advertised and sold by an operator you would have no issues at launch.

Okay so a few things. Let me define some terms.
2G = GSM, CDMA
2.5G = EDGE
3G = UMTS, HSPA, EVDO (rev A, rev B )
3.5G = HSPA+
4G = WIMAX, LTE

There are certain technical specifications a technology has to meet in order to be classed into one of these categories. On a technical level, these classifications are essentially correct for general technical use.
From a marketing point of view though, "4G" means everything under 4G and also HSPA+. Why? Because HSPA+ supports higher speeds than WIMAX which is an accepted 4G technology.

We have the following in T&T
Digicel = GSM, EDGE
TSTT = GSM, EDGE, EVDO rev A, WIMAX

EDGE is the technology we currently use for get data. EVDO rev A was what TSTT got when they bought out Laqtel's infrastructure. This is a CDMA technology not usable with our GSM phones. It was what TSTT used to launch blink on the go. WIMAX is used for blink on the go turbo, with regular blink of the go being shunted over to it as TSTT prepares to return the spectrum to TATT.

So you probably already knew a lot of that already. I just wanted to say it so we're all on the same page. Now then, when you start talking about 3G speeds in England there's a few things need to be known. What kind of network is this? Generally speaking, ANY network anywhere in the world is going to be optimized so that it can get what the accepted real world performance is. That's part of the service the vendors provide when they install the system. Network congestion and signal quality can affect this.

As for the advertised max speeds, generally they tend to advertise the theoretical max I'd think. What they actually get, well here's something PC Mag did a year ago:

So you get an idea what people are actually getting in the US. Notice this is a lot less than advertised. But you can get those advertised speeds. I know a case where a co-worker of mine was standing literally under an LTE tower in another country and was pulling about 50mbps. So there's a huge gap here you need to realize.

The last thing you asked, about a TSTT graphic for 3G. I'm not familiar with it. Maybe you could link me? Unless you mean the MiFi device? That's a just basically a blink on the go turbo modem so it would have a speed along the lines of BOTG turbo.

4 G is coming in about 7 months to Digicel I'm sure both networks will offer same time but rates high .

It's coming MUCH faster than that bro. Thing is already up and running. Digicel's launch is imminent. It would take 7 months to get it up and running from scratch.

I honestly think you have no idea what you're talking about. Obviously TSTT has a bad rep but there's no reason to go making up stuff.

You're worrying about nothing here I assure you. HSPA+ is used in Europe where GSM rules supreme. There's absolutely no way that TSTT, Digicel or anybody is going to switch to CDMA.
I've been to technical presentations in other territories where HSPA+ was planned to be added onto existing GSM networks, and both Ericcson and Hua Wei were presenters to that operator. Both of those are obviously the companies that will be doing the work locally for Digicel and TSTT respectively.
In essence, your phone will work just fine. As I said before, I've seen Digicel HSPA+ running here on test phones just fine.

As far as those speeds you're quoting, 21mbps, 14mbps etc. Don't count on it. Those are theoretical max speeds. They will never, read: NEVER, happen in an actual use environment. Unless you stand directly under the cell tower. Then you might get it. For practical purposes expect download speeds somewhere like 4-7 mbps.

RIM is basically dead and buried everywhere that matters.
They still have a lot of success in developing markets such as the Caribbean, Africa, Middle East etc where people are just getting into the idea of smartphones, where bbm makes them a huge hit and where the markets aren't sophisticated yet enough to handle iOS/Android in their full glory.

Holding strong in these markets is essentially a slow death. The name of the game right now is apps. Those markets don't have the established app developers, and the established developers are more interested in the purchasing power of a man in the US of Western Europe than some dude in Africa. So they'll support the dominant platforms in developed countries.

By the time BB10 is launched, even Windows Phone will have gotten a year head start on them. And if the rumour of them having limited android app emulation is true that doesn't do much, why settle for android app emulation when you can get the real deal. Even assuming RIM's new phones and OS are a quality products, they don't have a game changer that will cause buyers in developed countries to flock back. RIM lost all that market share because they made significant missteps, for them to regain any of it means they have to wait for Apple, Google and later Microsoft to make similar ones. Seems doubtful to me.

Digicel HSPA+ is due any day now. Only reason it hasn't already launched is likely because they're having technical problems with integration (my educated assumption). bMobile just announced their network expansion yesterday.
But for the record I've literally seen it running, Digicel technical staff have been testing it on their phones since Christmas. I'd quote the speedtest but that was hardly commercial launch ready and running.

WiFi is pretty much here to stay in high traffic areas. This is hardly a Trini duct-tape fix, wifi roll outs are worldwide. It's very easy for users to clog high speed networks with streaming video etc so wifi is a essentially used as a way to offload traffic from the mobile network. AT&T got a nasty surprise when they allowed too many iphone users unlimited data. Between wifi, data quotas and bandwidth throttling for data hogs, it's pretty much the only way high speed mobile networks are prevented from grinding to a halt.

Don't particularly like the idea of transsexuals in Miss Universe.
That said though, as a principle I see no reason to discriminate against anyone for any reason, be it race, gender, sexual orientation. So I'll go with principle and say let her compete.

Feel sorry for anyone who had a lifetime account.
Wait, no. If you were that dumb then you deserve what you got.

That said though, this is just another case of cutting another head off the piracy hydra, expect two to grow back. There's no way to stop piracy, pirates will just go deeper and more sophisticated every time. All the industry can do is try to make their products available in a convenient and affordable fashion.
Making your online distribution strategy "Kill dem pirates so everyone buys our physical media or equally priced digital offering!" has all the makings of fail on it.

Also learning that this SOE could go on and off indefinitely for 6 months....d rassplat..

Sad thing is, as ive been hearing whole freaking day, a state of emergency is a last resort, if this doh work, it would effectively show the population that our government can not deal with the crime situation...

A SoE is a last resort, but not a last resort as a crime fighting measure.
The approach being used is oafish and overly high handed. If it's one thing history will show is that when Governments take on more power they're loathe to release it. If using SoEs to fight crime becomes standard imagine the future.
*10 man ded a weekend*
Kamla: "Lock it down!!"
*we figure rel weed landin Saturday*
Kamla: "Lock it down!"
*anti government elements planning a rally*
Kamla: "Lock it down!"

Am I the only one that realizes that this is NOT what a SoE was made for? No framer would have created the clause envisioning this. Suspending the rights of citizens is the most serious business around. It's serious business that should not even be contemplated unless our way of life is in jeopardy.
Is it? Not even close. We all take more precautions because of crime but people liming and relaxing normal for the most part. You want to see what it looks like when crime is threatening a way of life? Look at Mexico. We aren't even 10% of the way there.

There's crime everywhere. People die. It's unfortunate, and definitely action should be taken to fight this, but between crime and the SoE (which could last God knows how long), between crime and the GOVERNMENT, who exactly is threatening our way of life at the moment?

If the operation was well executed, concentrated in areas where the strength of our protective services would allow it to work properly, AND kept to the minimum duration I might say alright, let's accept this infringement. But running around like headless chickens and suffering the population with a measure that anyone with an IQ over 100 can see will not work is NOT the infringement on my or anyone else's rights.

"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

The sort of policies I would advocate would have the unions arming themselves and catapulting men over my wall to get me so all I'll say is that I'm totally against this socialist nonsense. Everytime I hear one of them refer to the other as "comrade" I want to slap them and remind them that that approach failed already.

Let every man stand for himself (with certain exceptions), none of this collective crap that works directly against a meritocracy. Unions could salt for all I care.

Watch how many people gonna get pinched for petty possession charges.
HALLELUJAH PP for saving us from non-violent offenders posing a danger to no one!

Apparently they just woke up Sunday and thought this was a good idea. You supposed to have it declared and then 2 minutes later police in men tail. Instead they seem to take they sweet time. Anybody who had anything of real worth done bury it in dey neighbour yard.
And no "Mr. Big" ever keeps stuff on him, you don't catch those guys with raids, you catch them by conducting in depth targeted operations.

39
You're missing the point, Fedor was out. Unconscious. When that happens the ref is supposed to stop the fight.

Making comparisons to Brock or Nick Diaz even doesn't apply, as both were intelligently defending themselves from the attacks and most importantly when compared to this situation, they never lost consciousness.
The loss of consciousness is the key. Look at last night when Ebersole was GnPing Hallman. As soon as Hallman went limp the ref jumped in. It's good practice. You can't just hope a guy recovers fast, if he doesn't he'll eat a lot of shots while unconscious.

Had Herb known Fedor would recover like that beforehand I agree he could have let the fight go on and never jumped in. But best practice says you jump in when a fighter is knocked unconscious, Herb did that and he shouldn't be criticized for it. Once he made the move to stop the fight he couldn't take it back.

40
Absolutely not. Fedor was OUT after that uppercut. Definitely Dan hit him in the back of the head when he swarmed him, but that happens all the time in those situations.
Fedor did recover at the end, very commendable, but as far as I'm concerned Herb had every right to move to stop the fight after he went limp from the uppercut.

I'm glad Fedor got cut as well, it's time for him to retire. I really don't see any fights for him anymore, not unless he reinvents himself. Which would entail actually cutting to 205 permanently and finding a proper training camp (not this Russian crap he does right now). Fedor will never do either, so I'd rather see him bow out now before he turns into what Cro Cop and Wanderlei are now.

The real tragedy out of SF this week was The Reem being released imo.
