The Purple Dragon in Arima has some lessons in Aikido. That's probably as close to the area as you can get.

There needs to be someone teaching Brazilian Jui Jitsu down here.

Just because it's so awesome.
What can you do to end the hunger?
It's no surprise that many will die with the coming shortage of food
When there is no grain to feed the butchered cows
When there is nothing to feed yourselves...
Then you will see that money can't be eaten.

Jiu-Jitsu.

Also, people, hate to be a Grammar Nazi here, but:

- Muay Thai
- Shotokan
- Ninjitsu (no 'i' at the end)

...is how they're spelt. Ye-GADS.

By the way, Synchro, do you mean Capoeira? If so, that would be awesome. I've always wanted to see some practitioners of that style in action.

Oh no...not capoeira...

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a a grapple based fighting style which focuses on joint locks, submission holds and leathal breaks. It doesn't look fancy....but god damn is it effective.

It's the grapple techniques used in UFC. Very damned effective.

If you're looking for something to be effective in real fighting then best bets would be Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or Muay Thai. Wing Chun too but that's more esoteric and no chance in hell of finding it.

This is also called Ground fighting a fav with security firms and organisations around the world mainly for the fact that the average assailant/law offender needs to to be "taken" down to the ground as quickly as possibly to restrain him. Reason being that if a man cant stand he cant fight. also many ppl who have gotten into ungoverned fights would have realised that most of the fights end up on the ground, its just something natural for humans to do, remember those days fighting yuh cousin is either you or him pinning each other on the ground? and either one of you have to yield same thing in BJJ. Ground them....Pin them...Make them Submit(joint locks and submission moves)
I am awaken to the glory that is my birthright!!!

Protojoe, I am no martial artist, but I am very sorry to say that I sorely disagree with your first statement, especially the part where you go "...and well, the only true way to defeat someone...is to kill". That is a VERY dishonorable credo, because it goes against the grain of why traditional martial arts were developed in the first place - for people to defend themselves and protect others.

Thats ok, but the way I was taught and th kinda stuff I have seen...in a fight, a REAL fight now...anything can happen. And I suppose the way I put that statment was abit too overboard, but simply put, when someone attacks you with the intent to hurt you, your not gonna be thinking of which 'style' to use...your either going to want to get away (first and foremost) or if it comes down to it, fight...and fight and defeat the opponent. Taking risks in fights are stupid, so hitting someone one hit and expect them to stay down and out is dumb...you are gonna wanna f*** them up!

Now by no way at all I am not condoing going round and picking fights, the whole means of martial arts is to defend ones self...but when it was first created there were not guns arround for every and any idoit to have, people wernt ignorant and as spiteful so that they cant take a loss and want to 'move with a gang for you' By todays standard, using martial arts...or just fighting (real fighting) Your not gonna want to take risks and the only certain defeat is death.

The only reason I said thosethings is cause the original poster of this thread had the idea that Martial arts was a 'fun' thing where as anyfight is a serious serious matter....

Now on a personal note...I'm not being hypocritical but if I were ever put into a situation as a serious fight (and I have) I wouldnt want to kill anyone (i dont think any normal person would WANT to...it would seem cool and fun and all that stuff, but when in the situation you wouldnt espically when you know what your capable of) However, to the same degree the opponent has to defeated to the point where they wont want to mess with you or anyone again....
