I have a suspicion they will skip numbers, cause actually ATI had Radeon 7200 cards and Nvidia already passed the 7xxx series, funny enough they used 7300... so its possible we'll see a Geforce 9400 and 9900 instead of 95/6/7/800 snice Radeon used all of those XD

and can you believe, Radeon 3850 for AGP!!?

March Edition biatches....

Highlights include the 9600 GT, which has spurred a price war of sorts:

Quote
February has been a great month for graphics card buyers: prices have been dropping hard across the board. A possible reason for this is the introduction of Nvidia's new 9600 GT.

The new Geforce 9600 GT 512MB offers performance just below that of the 8800 GT - and on par with the Radeon 3870 - for the exceptionally low price of ~$180. ATI has responded to this threat by lowering Radeon 3870 prices to the same range; indeed, the entire Geforce and Radeon lines seem to have been lowered in what looks to be a bit of a price war. The end result can only be good news for consumers, as it is now possible to buy a graphics card capable of real-world 1920x1200 gaming for less than $200!

This price shift makes it difficult to recommend the $450 dual-GPU Radeon 3870 X2 anymore. Two full-fledged Radeon 3870 cards can be bought and placed in a Crossfire configuration for almost $100 less!

So it seems that the 9600 GT has now joined the venerable and legendary 6600 GT as the new price/performance king.

There are 3870's that can be had for same price as the 9600gt's or a lil more and you getting more performance.

Based on that very article, I found this very 'bess' deal on Amazon....

This card is essentially a crippled 8800 GT (now known as the 9600 GSO), and at the listed price, its an absolute steal,
but check out the price after rebate.  If you can get that rebate, well, nuff said.

Indeed. :)  EPIC WIN x 2 is now totally affordable.

Like ah forget September.  Oh well...

Check out the October Edition.

Highlights this time around include the low-end AMD HD4000 series cards, which Nvidia HAD to lower prices AGAIN to match up
price/performance-wise.

AMD is really hitting their stride with the HD4000 series. :awesome:

November 2008 edition is out:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-graphics-card,2064.html

Highlights:

The HD 4670 runs as well as a GF 8800GS and will be perfect for my shuttle XPC at US$80 minimum - no PCI-E power connector required!!

An HD 4870/GTX 260 can be had for as little as US$230, and the GTX 260 "core 216" is a worthwhile deal at US$300 (I thinks this is my next card here pending HD 4870 card testing)

HD4850 (X2 or in CF) is a better deal than a GTX 280

HD 4870 X2 is still for those who can afford to live without a few vital organs...  :toothy9:
God is dead.

December Edition in we pweffnn...

"November Review and December Updates:

The Radeon HD 4850 X2 became commercially available right after last month’s article was published. The 4850 X2 is a tough card to peg, as its $370 street price is a bit more than the cost of two separate 4850 cards, which can retail for as low as $340. Having said that, the 4850 X2 is equipped with 2 GB of video RAM, while the 4850s with 1 GB of RAM start at $200 each from what we’ve seen. In addition, the 4850 X2 seems to be able to beat Nvidia’s more-expensive flagship GeForce GTX 280 by a small margin. With this in mind, we recommend the Radeon 4850 X2 for those of you with a $370 budget."
