This was just on my mind ---- It have ppl here well some look like dey hav nun else 2 do but seriously how come dey doe get paid or sum so or lik mega donations 1st time i see anything happening without $ passing well i living in town so you know how it is but d passion strong here

Point is list the reasons why should dey get paid and y they shouldnt.

Rite now i thinking but cah really come up with anything valid and valuable

At least some sorta royalties ---- cuz without d ppl and mods of d forum well we;ll b bac 2 myspace and hi5 and i doe think ne1 here wants that

It's this simple: Moderators are always picked out of a lot of existing site users. You choose/volunteer to be on/part the moderation staff because you wish to maintain order in a place, a community, which you enjoy or frequent. Your services as moderator are not a necessity, but a welcome aid to the maintainence of order and a mutual benefit.

lemme add a 25 cents worth to the discussion.

There are people that get paid in and around the community. Some have been mods and admins.

Being close to the income is key. For instance, the site itself does not make any money so the strictly online mods and admins won't get paid.

However, mods/admins that work at a GL where gamers pay $ to play games will get paid.

At GATT HQ for instance, they would sell game time, browse the site, keep law and order in both places and get a salary for doing same.

Sweet deal.

We do have a plan in motion for monetizing the site (some ad stuff) but I doubt it will pay anything substantial to warrant anyone quitting their days jobs.

lol, well people get paid at NFPO's too. Look at FEEL, they are non profit, but get millions of dollars and have paid staff. Same for Heroes Foundation.

GATT has survived for 10 years on a shoe string budget and volunteer labour but as mentioned before, we already pay people via HQ and other GLs that spawned over the ages. I think that is a win win arrangement.

Sites that are non profit organizations can't pay staff and other mainly the sites does not gain revenue for its own desires, putting ads on one's sites make may only cover the cost of running the server and the cost of the domain and really nothing more
