I don't agree with you arc as the way I see it, it's only cause of ridiculous engines like that used in Crysis that really relegate PC games from porting, whereas when you look at the Unreal 3 engine and the level of detail that was achieved with MUCH LOWER specs it makes you wonder about how optimal the coding for a game like Crysis was, I would like to see this game come to fruitition postively, sure the PC version will look better but for online play Live has it in the BAG. Plus PC games aren't selling that well, to put all your eggs in the PC market nowadays would be an exercise in self unemployment.

I'm no unreal player, but I've heard those guys saying the content of the PC version of UT3 was heavily cut, due to developers focusing primarily on the console versions.

Not sure how much truth there is in that but I hope they don't do the same to FarCry2.

To be safe, they should do what they did with FC1. Release the true experience on the PC first, then release the inferior console ports sometime later.

But you see, these days, with Consoles selling like hot cakes, developers will look at that and say to themselves, is it really worth the expense of developing for PC if they are going to be pirated, whereas the next gen systems are much harder to pirate especially on the PS3 with BluRay. COD 4 was not a port, each version was created independant of each other, hence the great experience overall.

In terms of the ease of setting up sweats to play against people from all over the world, YES!

If console development means that the PC version needs to be 'dumbed down' a bit, then I don't agree that it should be pursued.

The Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter series is a PERFECT example of how this approach to PC-vs-console development should be tackled.
Both versions of that game were developed around the same general story, but the strengths/limitations of each platform were
taken into account, which resulted in stellar games; the PC version being a traditional FPS, and the console version being a 3rd-person
action game.  This same approach was also used for Rainbow Six: Vegas.

Personally, I think the above scenario is how the different versions should turn out.  It would be better for all gamers overall.
If you have a uber-PC, then get the PC version.  If you have a console, then get the not-so-uber-but-just-as-entertaining console version,
and make both versions different enough so that gamers who have BOTH platforms might actually want to get both versions.

Holy crix and cheese, the graphics looking sweeeet. I hope the gameplay does not suck when it's released. Hard to have a game with bes' graphics and sucky gameplay.
