Bioshock
« on: August 16, 2007, 08:29:05 AM »

Im hearing amazing things about this game, (surprised no one else wrote anything on it) for instance:

A dark and astonishing masterpiece...I spend my career, and my gaming life, waiting for a moment when a game just astonishes me, when I can't believe what I'm seeing, what I'm doing. BioShock has five. [Sept 2007, p.66] PC Gamer UK

http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/bioshock

here is the reviews for the 360 version:

http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/bioshock

And here is the official site (low bandwith users beware!!!)

http://www.2kgames.com/bioshock/

Game officially comes out on the 21st, so lots more reviews to follow.

I think this is a serious contender for game of the year!!! A must have!!! :yay:

Ive been following this game for a while and it truly seems to be very good. Some positive reviews indicate that this game should be bess and at the very lest, serve as a "hold over" game until Crysis comes out later this year. Remember a few days ago, Toys R Us started selling it when it wasnt really actually supposed to be released. Those people who now have their hands on it must be smiling.

I really and honestly hope you not comparing those two games. One with a storyline that develops according to the choices the player makes with specific detail on that of the storyline and environment compared to that of a gorgeous game with a storyline and gamplay we are still anticipating.
Honestly as far as Crysis goes, im keeping my judgemnt in reservation until i get another shot at playing this game. As for Bioshock im anticipating a completely immersive experience. From the demo I played the environment alone is so detailed and eerie it can completely envelop you into the game, from playing the short demo on 360 i can already see this game being a masterpiece.

Ok, because I played the Xbox 360 demo, and was quite disappointed.  I guess the combat of Battlefield-like games
has spoiled me.

Some sites don't play nice with download manager software.  Torrents man, TORRENTS.
You can be sure there will be MANY torrents for this demo.  I'll give them a week before
I start looking for a torrent of the full PC game.

dunnno how to tell you this pal but Bioshock isnt primarily combat based...its more story/adventure based with combat being the secondary issue......as were System shock 1 and
FYI the usual "sources" have the full version for PC available already....or so im seeeing.
but for those upgrading their PC after seeing it runs like @ss on your current system.....now is a good a time as any......UT is comming!

^^ he's right. Its available on the "usual sources", weighing in at a 6.04gb download, on a very limited scale though with no "workaround". Well at least I have the demo to play with for now.

*edit*

Demo plays excellently (read over 60fps) on maximum settings. This looks to be a better implementation of the UE3 engine than the one in Rainbow Six vegas. Seems as though many a person will be able to run this game nicely.

Quote
As if 2K wasn't taking enough flak from yesterday's widescreen debacle, now gamers who have spent their hard-earned cash on the PC version of BioShock are finding that they can only install the game twice, ever. The game uses SecuROM copy protection, which verifies the install of the game remotely, disabling further installs once the game has been installed twice. This means if you are the type of person like me who formats your computer frequently to to get rid of generic crap buildup, you are screwed. If you frequently shift around games to free up space, you are screwed. If you are a pirate...well, you'll probably come up with a work around, so at least the criminals are safe, right? Be gentle with the link below. Seems 2K's forums are getting slammed for some

Well that puts a new, unwelcome spin on things. From the casual searches i've made for such 'workarounds', I've found only the big bubcas. These people making things real hard dred.
