WHAT you voting for?
« on: September 20, 2007, 08:09:37 AM »
Before we fly off the handle it's a simple non-illegal question what are the key things you are looking at when making your decision?
Im not asking who you voting for
Im not asking why this one should not be given consideration
Im not asking who did what

Being a first time voter I don't want to be completely ignorant and limited to my parents/friends views i jus want to get an idea as to how others do it.

There is only one correct answer...

..."For the hell of it."
What can you do to end the hunger?
It's no surprise that many will die with the coming shortage of food
When there is no grain to feed the butchered cows
When there is nothing to feed yourselves...
Then you will see that money can't be eaten.

I don't think you answered the question correctly there sync... or rather your answer does not apply to the question... I gather he's asking what are the positive actions that are of merit. Like say Party A intends to implement better infrastructure for the disabled in all government institutions and Party B wants to get rid of CEPEP and URP and implement better disciplined learning and training facilities to produce SKILLED labour as opposed to cutting grass and painting pebbles. He didn't ask WHY you should vote.. in fact he says that quite clearly...

To the one who believes in an alternate source of income than the energy sector.
To the one who believes in producing food locally to reduce cost.
To the one who believes in controlled spending to keep inflation down.
To the one who will NOT give their selves a raise as soon as the get voted in(or 3 for that matter)
To the one who shows care for the poor/disabled/old, by putting structures in place to make their lives a little less complicated.
To the one who REMOVES tax from ALL COMPUTER/COMPUTER RELATED parts coming in to the country
To the one who implements the DEATH PENALTY(Call me old fashion)
To the one who grants classic car collectors to bring in cars older than 2 years and license it legally
To the one who chooses to develop the road infrastructure, by removing all traffic lights on the highway and building overpasses at intersections.
To the one who decentralizes PORT OF SPAIN(you see the birth paper line)
To the one who promotes performance in all aspects of governmental offices with penalties, such as dismissal to those who does not perform
To the one who uses LOCALIZED human resources for development in all sectors(we have enough smart people we don't need Chinese)
To the one who finally ensures that their is water for all, and a constant flow of it, by ensuring the use of our desalination plant.
To the one who appoints the best man suited to run government owned institutions such as BWIA and not they friend.
--> To the one who makes it illegal to offer less than 1mbps.(lol)
To the one who stops the constuction of the SMELTER PLANTS, or if it must continue, let it be built right next to the homes of these government officials!!!
To the one who decides to use all these tall useless but good looking buildings to attract foreign investers to open business organizations to help provide WORTHWHILE jobs for the youth who are currently receiving free education.
To the one who keeps education FREE.
To the one who BANDS SMOKING in public and MAKES IT ILLEGAL TO PLAY LOUD MUSIC from their cars.(Lets be honest as a family man, these are the things that concerns parents, especially 1 am when you finally got your kid asleep and some a##hole think that its cool to be playing music loudly this hour).
To the one who builds a professional drag racing track.
To the one who implements the mandatory performance of the staff of government offices(ever been to license office) and computerizes every thing,(License office, Police service, Port Authority, whatever agency).
To the one who allows all services and request performed by and made to all governmental agency, the ability to be carried out ONLINE.
To the one who FINALLY ADMITS that crime is a PROBLEM.
To the one who revamps the police service, and allows ALL POLICEMEN to be on Patrol and hire civilians  to take reports at police stations, thus maximizing the manpower of the police.
To the one who decides that prisoners are NOT dogs and 16 men should not be in 1 cell with a bucket in the corner. Concentrate on rehabilitation for simple offenders rather than sticking them in jail with hardcore prisoners.
To the one who thinks that the capital city is a bad place to have a maximum security prison.
To the one who makes parents share the blame for children's actions.
To the one who pays their public servants fairly.
To the one who builds a new, large hospital, and outsource doctors and nurses if they have to.
To the one who actually develops the country, instead of MAKING it look developed.

Finally, for now, to the one who holds himself personally responsible for non performance in any governmental office, admits to it and tries to correct his/her ways and try to do whats best for the people of this country instead of doing what THEY THINK IS BEST for this country.

When i see a manifesto as such, then I'll stain my finger. Until then, its one less voter

I forgot one
To the one who will NOT tear down the homes of squatters without first relocating them(this one is bull$hit, you see the mother of 8 in south stuepsss)

Well I have to say, I'm impressed as hell to hear the youths talking this way, gives you hope for the future of T&T.

I must admit, I've never cared to vote before, as there's never been anyone worthy of my vote. However, I'll also admit that was the wrong approach, and I only wish I could be in T&T this elections to drop my ballot.

Some might say I'm biased because my mums in d politics circle now. But I'll say this much to you all, I don't care whether you come out and vote for her, or her competition, just come out and have your say, make your vote count, regardless of who it is for.

It's a shame that it took me until I turn 28 to realise the opportunity that I've been wasting all these years, and now that I want to take advantage of the opportunity, I'm stuck here in Canada watching from the sidelines.

I guess at the end of the day you won't be voting for who will take this country forward, but for the lesser of 3 evils.

And that is a decision that I cannot make. As much as I... and I am going to outright say it.... DESPISE the current administration,

who can I lend my support to that won't be feeding us the same bs that was fed during campaigning last time, and when they

get into power, everything change.

Yep. My answer still applies. I know what I would vote for. However, I don't see anything worth voting for at all and I'm not dealing in hyperthetics when it comes to our leadership because it's strictly vanity to do so.
