Welcome to the 10k+ club spk. You're just taken 6th place from Saxman. I dont think he's gonna be none too happy about that...

Well as I mentioned in the first post, it's still a temporary build, the GPU is no longer in my possession at the moment (Thanks to Arcman for the loan of the card! Highly appreciated! :) ), running an X1900GT in the meantime, though I should be updating this by the 21st or so, when I get my 8800GT and start messing around.

As for me taking Saxman's 6th place, that shouldn't be for TOO long - I know he'll be trying some tricks before I can get that 8800GT :). Also, I would definitely be aiming for the top 5 with the finished build.

Either way, it's a significant jump on my last system, which managed a meagre 1430 (Sempron 3000+, 2x1GB Kingston DDR400 RAM, Geforce 6800XT 256MB AGP).

Well I dont know but if im right, Sax is so far out of remaining tricks that he's running a big risk of blowing up his system and tripping off current to his entire street if he attempts to squeeze even 50 more points out of it talk bout pressura!!!

Regardless of not having the 8800gts again, standings still hold until you get your gt. *"Top rigs" thread updated*

Interesting how close that score is to my LAN rig with SLI.  Now we can appreciate the raw processing
power of these Conroe CPUs.  I wonder what the score will be with your 8800 GT?

Actually Arcman, I really want to see how your SLI will work in your main system with you Core 2 Quad....

Dang....that would have been really interesting to see.

I have the same problem - Crossfire ready. However, by this year's end, I may look to see if I can get 2x3870s and see how well they would do.

Well having sourced my 8800GT (much thanks to Saxman for the help!), I have messed around with some minor OCing on the CPU, RAM and GPU... These may change soon, as I try to push this setup as far as I can. :D

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 2705 MHz.
Motherboard: Asus P5W-DH Deluxe.
RAM: 2 x 1GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer DDR2-1066 @ 900 MHz
GPU: EVGA Geforce 8800GT 512MB (650 MHz Clock, 1GHz Memory, 1625 MHz Shader)

3DMark06 Score: 11436

I got that same CPU, on that same board, to 3.2 GHz eh, and with DDR2-800 RAM as well, so I KNOW you can do
at least 3 GHz.  Baby steps though, baby steps.

Well after extensive testing this morning, I wasn't able to push the CPU much more, but I could get some extra juice out of the video card (I LOVE this 8800GT!).

As a result for now, these are my final benchmarks for the time being, I don't want to risk putting this system under extensive stress:

CPU @ 2884 MHz
RAM @ 960 MHz
Video Card @ 725 MHz Core, 1080 MHz Memory, 1813 MHz Shader.

3DMark06 Score: 12937

SM2.0: 6035.
HDR/SM3.0 Score: 6551.
CPU Score: 2579.

I am quite certain if you lower the RAM speed to DDR2-800, or even 667, that you will be able to break 3 GHz,
but good job nonetheless.  Quite a substantial jump too.  Nearly 13K.

I was considering that, but for now I'll let it be, the next time I'll be doing benchmarks is when I'm running RAID-0.
