10,000 BC
« on: March 08, 2008, 12:34:17 AM »
I just came back from checking this out. It was real cool and surprised me in a good way. I not too sure about the historical accuracy, though. The action was good with a decent story behind it. The actress was really hot as well. A nice bonus was a chance to see new trailers for Iron Man, Hancock and Dark Knight. To sum it up in one word: Yahallaa.

I agree with Laertes, I went to see it last night with my Fiancee and her mother for her Birthday. It was an ok movie, kinda walked in late as the stupid woman that sold us the tickets gave us the 7:30pm instead of the 8:30pm like I asked for...Anyway, the storyline was a bit simplified, beautiful girl gets kidnapped by slave hunters only to be rescued by Hero with a relationship that links him to everyone he comes in contact with...and they all just so happen to speak English! I would have preferred to just get it on Blu Ray later on from NetFlix as a rental....

This movie was like doubles with no pepper or sweet sauce. I ent need plenty pepoper eh, but a lil slight go do every now and then.

lol, that reminds me of a review I read on IMDB:

Quote
You know how when you go to a cafeteria style restaurant and you see something you usually enjoy like lasagna. You get the lasagna and take a bite with the fond memories of the last time you ate it in a real restaurant. When the first taste hits your tongue and all hopes of future meal enjoyment are flushed down the toilet. 10,000BC is the cafeteria lasagna. It looks goods, has the potential to be great, you have fond memories of other movies in the same genre that were good, and then you watch it. It's edible but just barely.

Does this movie make people think about eating?
You have part of my attention - you have the minimum amount.

Yea, the black people part is accurate as life originated in Africa anyway...

saw it last night with wifey in movietowne. She gave it an 11/10 (no accounting for taste). lol

I'd give it a 7

Definitely had potential to be GREAT but ended up being kinda ho hum.

Some things that would have earned it additional points for me.....

MASSIVE hemorrhaging SPOILER ALERT!!!

1) Additional point if they had let the mc blue eye girl stay dead after being shot with the arrow

2) Additional point if the "Almighty" had been an alien

3) Additional point if "master hunter" had died at the hands of the very lethal birds in the bushes. (How de mc he survive that is beyond me!)

4) Additional point if the SabreTooth tiger had eaten somebody.

*********** Spoiler response **********

I thought it was cool that he saved the tiger and the favor was returned. Also, I thought it was a nice touch that the old mother gave her last breath to save the girl. Finally, I give major points for him actually killing the "Almighty" with his spear when Leonidas, a big bad Spartan, missed with his throw in 300.
