once the appropriate brackets are out on market, MOST current 777/AM2 aftermarket coolers would be compatible with the board

This is actually a completely new socket, therefore, most, if not all present cooling solutions would be incompatible with this platform. And its not the bracket i'm talking about alone. Its the larger surface area of the new socket.

good point... well i guess they'll prolly just broaden the bases of the hsf's or something add 2 extra pipes for contact etc.... possibilities are limitless.

I was more concerned with the clearence between the northbridge and southbridge coolign solutions. From first glance OCZ vendetta, and all other comparable HSF of that size would not fit either horizontally or vertically. That's my 2c.

I'll have to give the nod to the Asus Rampage II Extreme in terms of overall layout.  What Cap'n said about the socket is true,
so NONE of the current HSFs will work, as the Corei7 CPUs' IHS is much larger than the current socket 775.  So its more than just a
new bracket.  Its a whole new HSF you have to buy for this platform.
