Slamming could you post your speed test results to Trinidad and then another to Tampa Florida?

I just tested mine (at peak time on a Friday) and the results were fantastic.

So because Digicel doesn't have a small layout for their Fibre Pricing I'm just going to post Flow's because it's convenient.

Someone needs to talk to these Advertising and Marketing peeps and these companies.  I actually feel like it's an insult to us as a gaming community to be marketing a $500 and $700 package for "gaming".  Digicel is just as bad.

We've been gaming online since TSTT had their DSL running. More than 10 years ago.  We were fine on Flow's 5 and 10 Mbps connections.  What a slap in the face it is to us, and misleading to those who don't know, that they are portraying that you need that much bandwidth to game online.  Yes, game file size is getting bigger and bigger. More bandwidth = faster patching and downloading. That's fine.

What's important to us is LATENCY. If they could guarantee 50 ping or less to a US server. I'd jump on the wagon one time.  I actually saw it happen when people thought a higher connection meant better gaming. Nope. 200+ Ping in BF and DOTA which as we know makes it very frustrating and almost unplayable in games that require high reaction times.

It may seem petty to many who will pass over this little rant but to me it just shows the shitty level of appreciation our ISPs show towards their customers. Not to mention I've been getting packet loss at certain times of night.  Games like Diablo 3 become unplayable at 6PM DAILY. I don't know if it's traffic or just throttling by Flow's part.  Also, I realized recently that by just launching uTorrent (with no downloads or uploads active), my connection just dies. Wtf is that?

Tell me how many things you see wrong on this page: (hint: the first image is one of them)

Latency is a massive problem, 100% agreed but that isn't easily solvable by a local ISP.

It is highly dependent on so many factors. What can Flow say? 70ms guaranteed to US East Dota 2 server farm, 80ms to CSGO Atlanta Server Farm, 82ms  for Minecraft Florida Server farm? etc...etc...

That is a constantly moving target.

They can only guarantee the latency and bandwidth locally.

Problem really is that we live in the Caribbean and play in the USA (thousands of miles away)

Just like the gamers in Peru and Brazil.

Good news is, we have a solution for that.

Stay tuned.

Side note, the increase bandwidth is still fantastic for downloading huge games as you mentioned but also for sharing that bandwidth with family members, so definitely worth the while. Especially when we are getting twice the bandwidth for basically the same price we were paying before (From 15mb to 30mb for $219.99)

My peeve is just how they're wording their sales pitches.  If you read through each one of those packages and what they are "suitable" for it really makes you wonder who's in charge of these things and how much they really know.

If utorrent is causing connection loss, reduce the global number of incoming connections under preferences, generally don't need more than 50 - 100.

30ms and 12ms to where? If you're doing speed test to Flow's server in POS that doesn't reflect your latency to US based servers...

Yes, check your latency in game and post a screen shot.

Then follow this guide to trouble shoot your connection and post the results here.

First step: Connect your computer/laptop directly to the Flow modem.

Second step: Do a speedtest to Flow, Trinidad

www.speedtest.net

Ensure you're getting solid latency, 10 - 15ms should be fine, and bandwidth near your package speed so Around 15mb down, 2mb up for the 15mb package

Third step: Do a speedtest to Marathon, Florida

www.speedtest.net

Ensure you're getting decent latency 60 - 80ms should be fine, and bandwidth near your package speed. Around 15mb down and 2mb up for the 15mb package

Note, the greater your bandwidth, the less likely you will achieve the maximum speed during peak times (6PM - Midnight) when testing to foreign servers.

If all results look reasonable, any in game performance you are experiencing could be related to issues beyond your internet connection. Examples like server lag due to cpu overload, distance (maybe located in US West), windows updates or other downloads running incognito on your PC or competition for  bandwidth from other users in your household if you share your internet. One person on youtube or netflix can devastate your ping if you do not have QoS properly configured on your home router.

Be mindful, Flow has little control if you're playing on a foreign server. A thousand factors come into play as listed above.

Hope this helps
