Ridiculously excessive.  You need a case with 10+ expansion slots to use that
Exactly how many cases are there with 10 or more PCI expansion slots?

Asus did the 10 pcii-e slots already. I think they're just doing that because they can, not because you can actually get full x16 bandwidth out of all those slots.

they're doing quad sli with custom gtx285's.... thought this was posted already... hmm guess another forum. This is for the hardcore pc builders meng... and i believe the custom sli chipset on it ensures that it scales properly or something like that. Also this board is a beast with the fact that it has two 8pin cpu connections just to power the damn thing. you'll need to shell out some money on a damn beast of a psu too.

Chances are they still can't get full bandwidth to all 4+ PCIe 2.0 ports because of the chipset. As best as I can remember, X58 acheives Tri-SLI due to an Nvidia Chipset in addition to the X58 NB. To add additional PCIe lanes. But then who the hell knows oui. Overkill or rather not even overkill, it's just plain bragging rights and epeen contests.
