Noob, found this HELL OF A TV on Amazon dread. 3 HDMI, 19x10 res...and its an IPS panel man. And the price is certainly not half bad. Hoss, if u order this, we can go halfsies on the shipping/duty costs, hopefully save a bit there, assuming that 2 tv's in one order wont = double cost for everything...

Pity I already ordered the 26" Asus for us$289

That TV looks damn good. Though 32" is definitely too big to put on my desk. 28" was already pushing the limit.

Verdict on input Lag and Build Quality? (I see one of the reviews on amazon citing bad pixels already and no mention of response time)

Usually IPS panels have horrible response times compared to the much cheaper TNs. Great for color reproduction and viewing angles but not so great for fast paced games. Takes the fastest IPS to avoid any ghosting and input lag issues.

Be warned, there is a serious banding issue on that LG with 1080 signals (from xbox 360 or ps3) causing banding.

It doesn't occur on this rival panasonic:

http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-VIERA-TC-L32S1-32-Inch-1080p/dp/B001U3YK48/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1253498945&sr=8-1-catcorr

The panasonic is US$100.00 more though. So if you're not going to use a console, you can save the $$.

If I had won lotto, this would be the 26" IPS panel immc.

http://www.amazon.com/Planar-PX2611W-26-Inch-Widescreen-Digital/dp/B000O7IIS0

US$700, but it's rated as the fastest gaming IPS screen on the planet. 8ms input lag, which is half a frame. Could live with that.

Pity FED died due to lack of funding and SED is aeons from market. We'll be stuck with less than ideal LCD tech for some years to come.

For the tech heads, an exceptional read on the various LCD technologies available as well as their pros and cons:

http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/articles/panel_technologies.htm

Samsung has taught their monitor a new trick, pushing 120hz (true 120, not the interpolated version you see on big screen TVs).

It practically eliminates ghosting on LCDs. Not cheap. You'll pay $766 for a 22" with the tech.

Nice price but two things.

1) What is the input lag on that unit? Additional features (HDTV included) usually add towards input lag. Could be a deal breaker for gaming. As was the case with my dream samsung...boo.

2) HDTV = 15% VAT and DUTY iymc. 20% Duty to be exact. Not fun at all.

Keep that in mind if you plan to import a big screen. If the customs officer only smell TV, is lihixxxxxxxxxxxxx in yuh wallet mc.

lol @ 17". lihixxxxxxxxxxxxxxx in dat girl mc.

Almost forgot to update this thread. Got delivery of the monitor.

The Asus is indeed one sweet piece of machinery. If  you can convince her, she will not be disappointed with the spend.

Everyone in the house is in awe of it.

Console gaming on this beast is appreciably superior thanks to the full HD goodness and low dot pitch.

Very crisp. No ghosting, no latency. No input lag. (Tested with SF4 and Tekken 5 dr via HDMI)

One button switching of inputs via the front panel, very convenient.

Sigh, I feel like I've been missing out all my life. So many years wasted playing on sub par screens. lol

No cable TV on this screen. Strictly PC/Console/DVD action.

No HomeGarden and Food network for me thanks.

Strategically left that out to keep the women folk at bay (and away from the sweatage screen that is the Asus ASUS VW266H, lol)

I had a scare this morning, thought my wonderful 28" bit the dust. Thank God it was ATI's stupid driver that crashed. What a time of year to do w/o  this thing.

Made me start to consider its replacement seriously though for when it does fail. Pops brought down an HP 27" Monitor from the "Zon"

I was a bit sceptical about its lower resolution (1920x1080 as opposed to 1920x1200) but it looks great. Its big, bright and no visible ghosting like some have said.

Id still prefer at least a 19x12 res with that size of screen but its officially on the shortlist.
