The link I posted D2Ultima was specifically for PC reviews of the game (about 10)

You can check 'em yourself if you still doubt.

To see so few people playing it online is also a red flag.

That said, I know you know your shit when it comes to FPS games so I'll actually give it a try month end (budget allowing)

Really intrigued by the dedicated server option.

Well I have to swap out to Windows 7 soon, so you'll probably see me on the mumble server more often after I re-do my OS. If you want, I can live-stream some Brink gameplay for ya, so you can realize. The server configs can be 8 player (campaign type, 8 humans/bots vs enemy bot-only AI) or 16 player (campaign type, 8v8 players/bots on each team). There's also a stopwatch mode which I've actually not been able to try that often. But the game's changed a lot since release, a LOT of bugfixes went live.

Actually, if I had to pick, one thing a lot of people will hate about this game as opposed to modern AAA shooters (that they'll never admit) is that there is no KDR count. At all. There's only name, class, xp earned that match, ping and headset or no headset. Basically the more you damage people/do team-based actions etc, the more exp you get. Plain and simple. No exp for assist kills per-se, as you'll already gain exp from simply dealing damage. People do like their KDRs.

"if you want it, and have friends who'll play it, get it. If not, pass it by"

thats saying a whole lot... that means if had no desire to get it before, then dont... unless alot of your friends have that desire... which they dont...

and i usually watch ign and gametrailer reviews... but i dont watch the ratings.. i listen to the reviewers and WHY they say the game is/isnt good... cuz sometimes what good for them might not be good for me and vice versa... in this case it was the same...

limited stages
good concepts but poorly-averagely executed
repetitive...
no good story

Yes, you heard right. No KDRs at all. I made a video I'll upload it in a short while. You'll see what it's like for me to play tonight. I didn't do a good job of commentating though, I wasn't in a commentator's mood. XD.

What multiplayer FPS game isn't repetitive?
I'll agree with you on limited stages. But as far as I've heard, due to the Xbox issues at launch, they promised the first DLC to be totally free for all platforms, and that should have new maps to explore too.

Good concepts but poorly-averagely executed? Like what? My only issue is that it's a team-based game and standard configs leave non-fireteam (read: party system) VOIP off, when it'd be very useful. If you could tell me what they said that was poorly executed, I can give you my experiences. Oh, and Security can be spawn camped on like two maps.

The story is very serious, just not that deep, and has two flip sides. Basically the same scenarios, but if security wins it's one story, and vice versa if Resistance wins. But why is story important in a multiplayer, team-driven FPS? TF2, CS:S, Shattered Horizon all had no story, and were all fantastic games.

hey clearly u like the game, i cant fault you for that... but you're one of the few... you can watch the reviews yourself and determine if you do/dont agree... but with limited time and money i cant go on the word of few vs the many...

the many will always get first preference

Okay, here's a video I recorded of some Brink PC gameplay. You can determine what you think from that. A full game, it was campaign mode, so the enemy AI were bots. I didn't find that many people that game, usually I find more/camp and use homing beacon so my teammates basically get wallhax for a while. I used the Light body type, so I'm limited to SMGs/snipers for my main weapon, and pistols/machine pistols for my secondary, but I can move faster/parkour to better places. I forgot to mention, but with a pistol in your hand, your melee changes from a gunbutt to a knife; dealing more damage per melee.

And free dedicated servers... *hypnotizes Wyatt*

Nice gameplay video. It looks like a pretty fun game if you have team mates working together, too bad it never really caught on

Glad you liked. That's pretty much the state of the game now; almost every review out there that says anything about the game mechanics is pretty much useless. I do wish more people I knew played.

People, in case you missed the news, Brink is now Free2Play....I repeat, Free2Play

For this weekend at least. lol

Fire up your steam client and download that mofo. Lets try and arrange a time this weekend to give it a proper test drive.

Maybe Saturday night @ 9PM?

If you like it after the sweat, the game is on sale for 50% off till Monday as well.

So far this game is very boring....
Even with real people.
Hoping that the GATT sweat will make it more fun...

The game is now $9.99 on steam.

50 Percent Off

Bargain bin. Not the next MW3 or Battlefield, but at that price, it would make a decent stocking stuffer.
