how creul the gods must be to pick on me...
-dog get sick, had to take to vet is 400 overnight he might have to stay a few days (i particularly like this dog)
-dad v/c died, and
-while testing his card in my system, mine fell about 2 feet PWR supply end to floor...

this is on the same day to boot

the card landed SMACK DAB on the floor pwr supply end first not even sqaure self it was tilted directly to that single point...i feeling like an unfortunate character in some crappy sitcom.

i shit you not if it were anything else i would have brushed it off but not meh pc i go be borde as fk this christmas without it

the card is working even ran a stress test and some games and i didn't notice anything out of the ordinary but long term effects i can't be certain of.

Should i be overly concerned? i had planned to go xfire, but now i only plan to use this till the price of the 58xx cards come down a little, i would have still liked to retire it to another PC, anyone have any similar experiences that they can share and what transpired?

any bruises or visible damage? what surface it fell on? and changes in temps? fan on vc still fully functional? if its playing games u should be fine.

sincerly doubt you have anything to worry about. just keep testing it. if it was only 2 feet i really doubt any serious damage will occur.

Use a magnifying glass and check the soldered components to see if any components may have become slighlty loose.

On a next point to me only the corner of the pcb seems damaged, shouldn't be a major issue for the card.

I assemble and take apart systems on my bed so there's little chance of components getting dropped.

this was such a fk up scene it not funny, i was trying to avoid dropping a SCREW...a SCREW...and when i brakes i hit my side panel, which basically catapult the card in the air...i just laughed like a mad man at the irony of the situation picked it up and inspected it, shook it lightly, then a little more vigoursly didn't hear anything moving so i took it as a good sign. check the back of the board to see if anything looking lose (the sinks) the solder points seemed fine too

wrt the visible dmg only the end is a little spayed out like the dog ears on an old book, surface was concrete with a 5/6 mm carpet, fan still works ya, games running too, i just fraid to bad to leave it on if i not home

EDIT
one more thing i forgot to mention the pcb is also warped downward to the heatsink now on that corner, the image shows this

If something was wrong you would have seen symptoms fairly quickly...especially when you started to stress it.

I say, if you're not seeing any damage, then you're good to go, but if you start to see issues down the road, well, you know why.

ATI should add "droppable" as a selling point oui. Neph, u have nothing to wry about. Im pretty sure it wont spontaneously combust as soon as u fall asleep or step out the door.

Had a similar situation but with my Ram, I mister slippery fingers had one of those moments where my fingers forgot they are holding very expensive parts and dropped one of my ram sticks on the edge same way as how your card hit and there is that little bulge there......

Feel from computer desk height, the amount a cuss I let go it wasn't funny....

It's working fine so hope the same goes for your card :P
