PS3 with what appears to be a bad lens. Need to know if it can be fixed locally (JK ?) or if it needs to go foreign.

Also, an estimate of the repair would aid in deciding whether to fix or buy a new one.

Does that lens replacement normally last or is it more of a temporary fix?

3 months for some 6 for others

That's not good news at all.

Sounds like a waste of time and money. Best I save the cash and just get a new one

what exactly are the symptoms? is it not reading only blu ray discs? is it reading other media? is it working otherwise? which model is it? did u try cleaning the lens?

ok try cleaning the lens,

here is a video (dont limit to just this do other research online)

if cleaning doesnt help then a replacment lens is due.

i misunderstood your problem for a ylod (the yellow light of death) where the ps3 light just flashes yellow and doesnt turn on.

PS3 may well work well for a good while,once the lens is either cleaned or replaced.

Looks like a fix you can do for yourself if you brave enough hehe....I wonder which lens is best though, saw a few selling on Amazon from third party sellers.

I know people that have repaired there ps3 lens more than a year ago and it's still going strong, and they beast game like wow.

Wow, so gotaku back in TnT and his pardna suggested a place in Arima. Playerz Dome or something like that.

Turns out it was a bad diode and they fixed it for $1200.

Best deal, cuz now I gots me a backward compatible 60GB PS3 (I just need to get a controller, cuz unfortunately they don't fix those)
