phoenix31tt benchmark thread - New LCS System
« on: February 14, 2010, 11:30:48 PM »
Latest Bench

Hi all,

i guess its about time i started my own thread.

So the plan was to upgrade to a core i7 but... i get a sweet deal i couldn't refuse... 2 x Sapphire 5770's V2 and all i have to cough out is 1000$ so i decided to take it  :happy0203:
this replaced my HD4870

and well these are the results:

HD4870 vs HD5770 (Smaller, Uses less power, but great results)

2 x HD5770 Crossfire

and well these are the numbers it they putting up:

P15512

P15512

So i must say that these 2 little cards are very impressive thus far, this is with an overclock of 950/1300 on both cards

Will tweak/test later on and update to suite

I guess i'll be putting that core i7 upgrade on hold for another year... dont think i'll need anything more atm

A little 'incremental' upgrade I see?  Very nice.  :)

2 x HD5770 for $1000 is what I would call a 'steal'.

How does this new setup compare (performance-wise) with what you had before?

yeah @ incremental.. for that price i woulda be crazy if i didnt lol

nah @ a bet... it was just a matter of chance... men pc's was upgrading, and had a little bit of trading in the mix to etc etc

as per perfromace-wise...
well i had the single 4870 running for awhile now and needless to say this blowing it out of the water... and from tests i doing i think my cpu is the bottleneck now  :ko:
as for when i was running the 2 x 4870's CF... i'm still getting better performance in terms of benchies... in-game: performance difference is not to much that i can tell (but i havent tested all games yet)... but with the reduced size, reduced power consumption, reduced heat etc etc and all the newer features the 5xxx series brings i can see me running these cards for awhile, even if i did pay full price (170USD * 2) id say it is indeed a pretty good buy.
i'd quicker save the money and go to i7 platform if i had to shell out full price doh

A few questions/comments phoenix.

Sweet job on the cable mgmt. What case is that you're using?

What the HELL kinna gpu cooler is that? Obviously that isnt stock. What kind of temperature difference you seeing as opposed to stock, with fan speed increases?

Also, what card is that in the top slot. Judging from the green port, im guessing a sound card. Sound Blaster something? PCI-E x1? What model? I currently have a legacy pci model which is perfect for my present configuration, however when I change boards, a pci-e card might be more convenient.

Lastly, im not seeing a crossfire bridge. What up with that?

Oh, and what model/wattage corsair psu u running there?

Sweet job on the cable mgmt. What case is that you're using?

well the case is isme200's old antec p182. but i much rather my old antec 900, the MAIN reason is because this p182 not made for air cooling, its made for water cooling and yall know i aint goin down that route in a hurry.
thanks on the cable mgmt. it was actually much easier to do in this case as opposed to the 900

What the HELL kinna gpu cooler is that? Obviously that isnt stock. What kind of temperature difference you seeing as opposed to stock, with fan speed increases?

the gpu cooler is stock with sapphire 2L/V2, so i cant really comment on the difference vs stock, but in the reviews it was cooler than the vapor-x card so...
http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-Radeon-PCI-Express-Graphics-100283-2L/dp/B002XDQ8IU

at general cooling performance, i'm kinda handicapped with this case and the gpu's idle at around 40 with 100% fanspeed, which i consider unacceptable so i ordered some new fans for the case, hope it helps

Also, what card is that in the top slot. Judging from the green port, im guessing a sound card. Sound Blaster something? PCI-E x1? What model? I currently have a legacy pci model which is perfect for my present configuration, however when I change boards, a pci-e card might be more convenient.

yes u are right it is a sound card, x-fi xtreme gamer (pci version) so yes i would be looking for a new pci-e card when i eventually change boards to.

Lastly, im not seeing a crossfire bridge. What up with that?

lol you are right... i uploaded the wrong photo... i took out the pic and then was like... err wait something is missing right :S lol
will fix

Oh, and what model/wattage corsair psu u running there?

the psu = corsair 1000HX
got a sale for my older enermax 625 watt so went big one time (in preperation for the new right nah)

Oops my bad, you did. Damn mobile browser.

100% fan speed not unbearable noisewise? If not then they a lot different than the reference coolers.

no the cooler is muccchhh quieter than the 4870, but imo running the fan @ 100% just shortens its life.. i mean i dont have a problem to run it 100% while under load to keep it cool eh... i jus dont think i should have to do it right through...
hopefully the fans i ordered will help with teh cooling

OK guys

my first foray into liquid cooling.

mainboard, cpu, mem and gpu and all water blocks are from isme2003's previous LCS system

everything else is new

Loving the Haf X case even though i had to mod it to run my tubes the way i did.

neways enough talking on to the pics:

How come without HT?

That score a lil low dey, is nuh a 5970 you have? Probably cuz of the extra 4 threads of the cpu disabled then.

yea my gpu score right where the 5970 supposed to be... with HT my cpu score would shoot up about 3-4k points...

and i did it without HT cuz like i said i was extremely busy so i didn't have much time to play... when i get time i will get a proper OC with HT n bench that...

Nice case choice.  :)

...and you literally answered my question: how would one of those XSPC rads fit in there?
Explain, if you can, the 'mod' you needed to do so that your tubes could run behind the mobo
tray.  I barely had enough space for all my SATA and PSU cables.

Lemme give you something to shoot for as well.  :)
Time to fire up that HT.

@ arc... that case is THE best.. i wont lie.. i real love it... i guess they didnt cater for that size rad so hence the required mod.. what i did was cut the mobo tray (from the top) about 3/4 inch down right across... thus making the already existing space big enough for my tubes to go out through the back

and yea... that HT does real bump up the 3dmark... one question... i see you have a 4.0ghz oc there... is that with or without the Turbo Boost?

edit: i just watched the clocks.. its without the turbo boost

Unfortunately, these 1st-gen Core i7 CPUs do not possess that Turbo Boost feature.
That particular piece of niceness was implemented on the 1156/1155 CPUs.

...and 1.5V is the highest I'm willing to go for benching.  Experience has shown that the 2nd
revision of any new Intel CPU almost always yields lower idle temps and voltages eh, but I'm
still amazed at the voltages that those D0-stepping ones run at.  4.3 GHz at 1.45V is rather
impressive.  You may have to bump it up a bit when you turn on HT.
