I have to agree with that author in liking the Asus above all else JUST because of that stink overclocking potential.

MSI didnt pull through that rounds.

Keep in mind there WILL be a price premium for the ROG vs. the Gigabye, so it wins imho

While I love the layout of the MSI,  I would choose the Gigabyte.  Technically, its significantly superior to the others, and well worth the price premium.

What's interesting here is that the Thuban almost exactly matches the i7 and i3 Nehalems in almost all the benchmarks.  So now you have six-core performance on par with quad-core performance.

I'm pretty sure that AMD is counting on the fact that most of us cannot afford the only Intel six-core CPU currently available.  The timing of this release is significant.  I have to tip my hat to AMD here.  Of course Thuban cannot compare to the i7-980X, but AMD never intended to compete with that particular CPU.

A master stroke indeed.

The gigabyte is the most expensive of the three. Its right there in the review. It has some better features (2 nics, wc support and an extra pci-e slot, the latter 2 of which I am not using) as opposed to the rog but it doesnt stand up to overclocking as well and for that alone asus will get my money.

Hmm interesting @ price... an ROG less than another... what is this world coming to XD. That being said I give it some time, the prices will change. On a complete unrelated note my chipset is compatible with X6 *Evil smile*
