Well, it looks great, but that gameplay looks a-pretty damn a-clunky.
I'm left wondering why can't Midway make a game these days as fast paced as UMK3? That's surreal, when you consider that UMK3 is 12 YEARS OLD.

Also, models from Shaolin Monks. Stages from previous MK games. Is this going to be a prequel? AGAIN?

At the same time, we're not expecting this to come out any time soon are we?
Still seems too little too late for the MK series for me...the most recent MK fighters have all been a pass for me, since deception and up to MK/DC. God that was awful

Neo does make a valid point. The movements are slow like in MK1 O_o UMK3 will always WIN in my book.

But yeah, you know things are bad when I'm beginning to sound like camrE when it comes to Mortal Kombat. After all, Armageddon was a flop and MK vs. DC was just...awkward. Sure, the gameplay trailer did relieve me a bit with regards to my expectations for MK9. Hell, that tag team idea looks like it'll kick ass.

...the only problem is that they should have done that way back for MK vs. DC.

Still, if this is a genuine return to the tried and true MK formula, sign me up.
The graphics look pretty all right, and I really like the new spin on the classic arenas. The combos......look rather off. Reptile's combo didn't impress me at all on account of how slow it was.

I'm also confused at to where this game falls on the MK timeline.
I'm seeing Shaolin Monks Raiden, Johnny Cage and Kung Lao, but they're fighting against Deadly Alliance Sub-Zero, Deception Mileena and Nightwolf, and Armageddon Sektor. When does this game take place? Will the plot holes left behind by Armageddon get resolved? And...most of all, where is Scorpion?

Well, despite my issues about the game so far, I will say this. The trailer's all right, and it's pretty much succeeded in getting people hyped about this game. Let's see if Midway can follow up on that.




EDIT: By the way....did anybody see Deception Kira tied up at the end of the trailer?

SubZero will wtfpwn again.

3D graphics with 2D action is a definite win.

Worked for Street Fighter, heck it even worked for MK4.

It's a little more MKII paced than the pinnacle UMK3 but that's alright.....leaves room for a sequel that ups the ante with a lil more speed. Like the original Street Fighter 2 Turbo lol

Wait a second. Tag-team Kombat? Complete with Assists just like Marvel vs. Capcom 2?
Well, okay, I guess that's cool, but.....holy CRAP. Look at that internal damage Sub-Zero's inflicting on Scorpion! And they're getting rather bloody, too.



Well, you're almost convinced me, but how are the Fatalit-
*Scorpion slices Sub-Zero's head in half, exposing lovely brainmeats*
S**T, THAT LOOKED AWESOME.

.....but you know, eight characters doesn't make a game-

Warner Bros is also working on a "HD Remix " of MK1 through UMK3, they have hired new actors and are re-digitizing them in HD. Day 1 buy if it looks good.
