Linkin Park new album + competition

No puzzles or hidden messages with this one. We’re excited to finally announce that our new album, A THOUSAND SUNS, will be released on September 14th.

The lead single for the album is called “The Catalyst.” It will be released on August 2nd.

Beginning tomorrow, July 9th, we’re teaming up with MySpace for “Linkin Park, Featuring You,” a contest which gives you the one-of-a-kind opportunity to be on our new album. We'll be giving you some audio from “The Catalyst,” and you get to take it from there; you can remix the parts, write something over them, or mute stuff and write something totally new. We may choose a remix of the song, and put it on the album…or, we may choose an amazing keyboardist, string quartet, guitarist, percussion group, or other musician, and invite them into the studio to play on one of our songs. No matter what instrument you play, you can win. We're open to anything good. All we ask is that you include any audible portion of any one of our stems in your submission.

Once you submit, the community (that's you) will vote, and the most popular stuff will rise to the top. Then, my bandmates and I will comb through the submissions, choose one winner, and they will be included on our album, A THOUSAND SUNS. Check out http://www.myspace.com/linkinpark for contest details.

So, i already started work on my remix
(although i don't really like the song much)
Anyone else interested in this?

Well I'm not participating because I lack the skillz and time lol. Interested to see what people put together though. All the best on your remix.

Also, this album better make up for that disappointment called M2M.
You have part of my attention - you have the minimum amount.

One untitled track mixes Nine Inch Nails-style industrial punk with dreamy synth washes, while another lays a heavy hip-hop beat beneath Bennington's heartfelt vocal performance.

Could be full of win and make up for that steaming pile called Minutes To Midnight  :shakehead: *crosses fingers*

very interested. I didnt like their last album very much . Used to be a huge linkinpark fan ... still am just the way their style changes i couldnt really appreciate what it evolved into.

Hoping this one rekindles my LP flame or my ears feel better about its evolution.

i have to admit i actually enjoyed M2M, although i was disappointed because i wanted another typical heavy LP album, i enjoyed what they did musically.
A lot of what they did on M2M was simple and highly stylized because of what each of the members were working on, and i appreciated it for what it was.
Only issue about M2M was, they release a song called "qwerty" (dunno if ya'll know it) before M2M was released, and the collective rock community was awaiting an album that sounded raw and heavy like that song, unfortunately we got the exact opposite.

After hearing chester's solo album, i'm convinced that their new style is there to stay, they seem to feel at home there, it would be no surprise therefore if this album disappoints me.

I enjoyed Out Of Ashes had a nice mix of heavy and soft moments. I see no reason why LP can't do the same with this album. M2M just felt boring and uninspired.

I give the single 6/10 but the style made me interested enough to dl the album to make a proper judgement. Lots of my fav bands artists going solo. Patrick stump from falloutboy has a solo project going on as well . patrickstump.com if anyone is interested

Don't really care for fallout boy nah. Metal/hard rock and anything in between are my genres. Still hoping this album has a decent amount of heaviness, Aug 2nd we'll be getting the single to give us a taste.

Guys check out all official entries here (sorted by votes so so you can listen to the top ranked ones):
http://www.indabamusic.com/submissions?short_name=linkin-park-remix-contest&sort=votes#submissions

Note that since the contest is not available to us, you will need to use a proxy to browse, listen and vote. Some of these remixes real hard. These people are very talented.

This is the entry that is currently ranked #1 (not the best one I've heard though, not a fan of the singing style he used):

This is one of my favs (currently ranked #4):
