I'm excited for these devices to mature.

Waiting for one that can effectively replace my phone for tracking runs with Endomondo.

Will buy that for a dollar!

good looking out

Chromecast update finally allows mirroring from your phone or tablet

http://www.theverge.com/2014/7/9/5884587/android-phone-mirroring-update-for-chromecast

You'll soon be able to start mirroring everything on an Android phone over to your TV using a Chromecast. After announcing the feature at an event last month, Google said today that mirroring is beginning to roll out as part of an update to the Chromecast app for Android. The app will allow Android users to begin casting the entire screen of their tablets and phones, rather than just individual Chrome tabs and supported apps as they could up until now. Unfortunately, there are a limited number of devices that support mirroring at the moment, though the list does include the recent Nexus line as well as phones from Samsung, HTC, and LG.

....but wait...XDA lock in d skeem...any device :p

[EXPERIMENTAL] Enable Mirroring from any device
http://forum.xda-developers.com/hardware-hacking/chromecast/experimental-enable-mirroring-device-t2812193

Some of you may have heard of me before, and for the ones that haven't, let this be a warm introduction.
After hearing of the new Chromecast app with Beta support for mirroring, I decided to see if it's possible to enable for all devices. Apparently it is!
I assumed that some devices just wouldn't stream well, so I decided to mark this as [EXPERIMENTAL]. Please note that I did not make the feature, just the method to enable it.
Please note that you need the latest version of the Chromecast companion app and root access on your device (not your chromecast) for this to work properly. I believe the mirroring functionality requires KitKat, too.

Toyota’s new infotainment system centers around the Nexus 7

http://www.androidauthority.com/nexus-7-toyota-tis-513814/

While Android integration has already started to make its way into modern-day automobiles, the next step forward is Android Auto, which should start surfacing in model year 2015 vehicles later this year and into next year. We’re already seeing quite a few companies through their weight behind the effort, but it seems that Toyota has something completely different in mind — at least in Taiwan.

Partnering with Asus-owned Unimax, Toyota has announced the “Toyota Intelligent System”, which essentially brings a dockable Nexus 7 to select vehicles. The idea is that ‘smart’ infotainment systems are useful, but also tend to go obsolete long before you’re ready to upgrade to a new car. With the TIS, the heart of your experience is within a replaceable tablet. Today it’s the Nexus 7, but in the future Toyota and Unimax could make another newer tablet compatible with the system, provided it has the same overall dimensions.

All da morney for a watch that can't even make a full day on one charge?

Ridiculous.

Unless these smartwatches built G-Shock tough, and battery life increases to a week, or some kind of solar charging is implemented, then I don't want any.

Having to charge something every day that I'm pretty much wearing every single day of my life is highly inconvenient.

It nice, but it ain't quite there yet.

Casio ftw.  :)

I guess they would argue that you charge your cellphone everyday but I agree with you. Seems like a step backward when compared to a regular watch. Perhaps v2 will be better.

Agreed.

Great proof of concept devices. I'll wait for a few generations in when battery life is acceptable.

We need a scientific break through where power is concerned. Phones as well need to be doing a week on one charge. Not a day.

Article for anyone experiencing touchscreen issues on the OnePlus One
« Reply #2054 on: November 23, 2014, 08:18:12 PM »
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/fixing-the-ghost-touch-grounding-issue-once-and-for-all-hint-it-was-never-a-software-problem.186235/

Ever since I got the OnePlus One, I've been having issues with the touchscreen. Some touches weren't being registered, and sometimes when I'm scrolling, something along the way would be touched instead. Double taps turned into single taps, the camera shutter button was hard to touch, and typing was unpredictable. The list goes on.

OnePlus has addressed this issue as a "software bug" (just like the yellow tint), and promised to fix it in future updates. It worked for some, and I did notice some improvement, but it just wasn't good enough for me. I thought all the software did was merely filter or mask the effects of the grounding issue, and anticipated or extrapolated touches made by the user.

No matter which ROM or which version of CM11S I used, the touchscreen was never quite perfect. At some point, I knew for sure it wasn't simply a "software bug", because I've tried numerous kernels and ROMs, to no avail.

So, I went on a little investigation, because I'm actually quite familiar with problems like this. The iPad Mini suffers from a very similar grounding issue when the digitzer gets replaced. The original digitizers are all insulated properly from the factory, but when it breaks and needs to be replaced, the replacement screens don't come with the insulating tape pre-installed. If not insulated, the digitizer makes contact with the inside of the aluminum unibody, and thus creates the grounding issue.

So the problem appears on units that have had their digitisers replaced? My touch experience has been flawless so far.

So has mine. I've never had a single touch related issue with my OnePlus One. The only problem I've ever had was where the CM lockscreen would constantly crash when using a third party launcher like Nova and you changed the wallpaper. And that issue was fixed in the last update, so things have been perfect for me since then.
