« on: February 17, 2011, 02:23:05 PM »
Fellas ah fighting down getting rid of my trusty 20inch AOC monitor but these days like it sick...the backlight is flickering ever so often and then bam...it will cut off, now it still getting a signal the power led is still blue (orange is for no signal)...when i use the light from my fone and put it close to the screen i can still see the icons so i know is a.............Gdamnit...it just cut off again...as i was saying i still see the icons so i know is a backlight problem...anywhere you all know ppl who can fix this or should i just buy a new monitor

And talking about a new monitor where can i get a good HD res monitor (1920x1080) with a nice warranty so things like this will not happen again.

Well an important question is what power protection are you using? Do you own a HDTV? what Size are you looking for?
You can use a HDTV to replace your monitor OR you can use a LCD. I have a 22" LCD Monitor, it does 1080p (1920x1080) which I bought at The Wizz, alternatively you could get yourself a 32" HDTV that will output 1080p as well. Depends on your budget as well.

Regardless of what you're looking for, POWER PROTECTION is key! don't wanna ruin your investment on account of a surge OR brown out.

I vote this to be the post of the week. Nuff said. swear.

But yea like w1ntry said, getting an HDTV as a monitor is one of the best things you can do, seriously. I can never understand men have big expensive gaming rigs and rolling with 20 and 22" monitor. That just cah cut it.

That said, 32" 1080ptv is the PERFECT size for you after coming off that 20. Put that on your desk and you will not want to leave your house for days.

Problem is that finding a 32" 1080p tv locally is quite tricky. 1080p usually comes in  the 40" and above for some strange reason down here.

I eh really care for sum as big a a 32'' although i can see the justice behind having one that big but i would not blow so much on a display right now with this setup...a gts 250 on a 32inch screen ehhhh...i looking for something around 22-24inch once the native res is 1920x1080 with a decent refresh rate

Do yourself a favour and get one of these from Amazon.  You might only have to fork
out about $2700 TT in all (3000 worst case), and you can get the best of both worlds.

It's a 1080p 27-inch monitor, and it has every input you can think of, including regular-@$$
cable-TV coax, so yes, it can be used a TV also.  I have my PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 hooked up to
mine, so I can tell you for sure that it's great.

(...and best of all, Customs treats it as a LCD monitor, so no rapish charges)

Keep in mind it's not the 'size' that counts, its the resolution. A 52" HDTV will still ONLY do 1920x1080, whereas a 24" LCD Monitor could do 2560xwhatever, you get the point. Trust me HDTV IS the way to go! That being said, The Wizz has 22" 1080p LCD Monitors.

Man, i'll take a 50" 1080p tv over a 24" 25x19 any day of the week.

At the end of the day is full HD on a massive ass screen.

U know what it is flying a chopper or manning a tank in BC2 like with a size like that? EPIC.

More pixel density is good, but in my book, bigger is better.

What's your budget?

That's a great price for a 24 Inch LG @ $1400

I swear by my 26" Asus

You can see the rave reviews on newegg here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236047

1920x1200 res

The Samsung Arc spoke about would be my second choice. Personally, I think 26" for a HD desktop LCD is the sweet spot.

but again, you're gonna be screwed for warranty on any monitor you import, so if thats a significant factor, you can't go wrong with the elcheapo @ wizz.
