SPEEDRUNS
« on: August 31, 2011, 06:12:05 PM »
What is Speedruns? In short this is a challenge to see how fast you the gamer can run through a game in the fastest time.

To the unaided this might seem a Redbull induced/high on drugs buzz kill of a game challenge. The premise is simple, given the in game glitches/tricks some people can run through a stage really fast and in the fastest time. Record your run so others can see your accomplishment and root for you. (This gamer is not one of them, but i do enjoy watching people make the runs).

So you're thinking,"Yea, i can speed-run that (insert game name here)" but before you get all boastful, have a look at this speed run then you be the judge.

Game: Super Metroid
Console: SNES
Bots/cheat programs: none used
Time: 0:32 mins
http://speeddemosarchive.com/SuperMetroid.html#100
Single-segment 0:32 by Satoru Suzuki.
Watch and be amazed...

Seriously, you have to be hardcore to do such runs, or in this case, Parkour.
This and many other Speed runs can be found here: http://speeddemosarchive.com/

It should be noted this guy practiced on this game alone for a few months well and got advice on how to make his runs shorter (Like that arm-bar trick that looks strange but works really good) it was only then he could post this speedrun for all to see. Also note, he said he could have made the run shorter if wasn't for his mistakes... hmmm... @_@ :ko: :bother:
